2.26 minutes in.... the horizontal striped shirt fan.... that's me!
How amazing was his voice live ?
My absolute favorite blind melon song
Mine too
im tempted to agree but soup in general is amazing...
oscar no disagreements on this end! 😂😍😍😍😍 probably in my top 5 favorite albums ever!
Next to is Toes across the floor.
también es mi canción favorita de Blind Melon.. !!!
This might be the best performance of a song I've ever seen. Otherworldly and incredibly human, all at the same time
Soup is one of the greatest rock albums of all time
The most underrated band ever :(. Shannon was at same level than Cobain, Staley & Weiland
Way ahead cock
Cobain was kind of a shit singer. Totally right about Layne and Scott though!
No one could touch Staley. No one.
Cornell?
Hoon & Cobain
Wow ...this is seriously better then the studio version
No coment for 3 year says everything...
@@leiferikson4700 exactly
Dude, I heard the live first, and was let down by the studio version. This is the only time I've experienced this.
Pandnh4 same here
INSANELY charismatic frontman, and what a voice. I'm 100% certain that this band's best work was ahead of them. It's so sad that he died when he did.
This is so 1990's it isn't even funny, what a performance!!!.. RIP Shannon ..
That was hot..... they gave it 100%
his voice...one of the greats
Darker than Black Sabbath. More melodic than the Beach Boys. True artists in every sense of the word. Not only are they the most underrated band of the 90s, they are the most underrated band of all time.
That voice!
You're high
@@tmorelli1982 me? Close, drunk not high lol
Without a doubt the best version of one of the best songs of my youth. I'm shocked by how many people can only think of no rain. No rain isn't even in their top five songs. Hoon pours his soul out and it's a beautiful haunting masterpiece that I am so happy I just discovered.
No Rain made me write this band off for some reason. I really couldn't care less about Blind Melon after hearing it. But when this song came out, it made me do a double take at BM and caused me to give them a second chance and I'm so glad I did.
@@danielvandusen5724for me it was Swallowed. Heard that and was like wait what huh
@@danielvandusen5724🎉tb
@@danielvandusen5724 yeah the first time I heard No Rain and it was like "they're okay but not for me"
Then I heard this and Change. Both blew No Rain out of the water.
It's crazy how bands used to be able to sound as good live, if not better, than they did on the album.
It's a talent I don't see as much as I used to, so when I do see a band that does it, they really stick out.
Even after all these years, there can be no question that Shannon Hoon is the one of the best fucking singers in the world.
Amen to that! He was one in a million!
i agree, a lot, but let's not forget that the band is so very tight, all of them are great musicians and awesome in their instruments
@@elgut7426 the band is way better than tight
Unbelievable how effed up he was an yet he still was able to blow the crowd away.
That ending was breathtaking. Amazing performance. They were at the top of their game here. I don't think it could get much better than this honestly. The price we paid for having this kind of perfection was Shannon death, a happy guy can't perform like this, no way.
I hate that we lost him so early. Blind melon would have been unstoppable if we had him longer 😔
I miss him. He had a great voice. Damn.😢
Does everybody FEEL Shannon when he sings? OMG!
Shannon killed this, and band is right on point. Damn man
Furthermore, i take this as not being accepted, understood and coping with the way people people perceive you to be.
Wow, what an epic performance of this song. Talk about someone who putting their heart and soul into the music. Soup is one of my favorite albums of all time. I miss this band, and what a voice Shannon Hoon had.
This is the band firing on all cylinders! The guitar is sharp and jagged, the bass booms and the drummer is absolutely killing it. Shannon is energized, invigorated and passionate. This version of Blond Melon could slay any other live act of the 90’s.
I remember watching this on MuchMusic when it originally aired. I had just started high school at the time. Soup is one of the best and most underrated albums of the 90s.
One of my favorite live versions of anything
Happy 52nd birthday Shannon Hoon rest peacefully in your galaxie.
Shannon Hoon (and Blind Melon of course, but I come for the words and the voice) wrote 3 of the best, most dynamic, most honest, raw, and effortlessly poetic albums of all time. Almost every song a classic, or a gut punch, or an invitation to consider what he saw and the fucked up places a plummeting mood will land you. Sleepyhouse. Walk. St. Abdrew's Fall, Galaxy. Toes Across The Foor. Soup. Soup. Soup. Change. Vernie. Mouthful of Cavities. Car seat. Glitch. The Pusher. I Wonder. Drive. Time. It's an injustice that when I mention Blind Melon some ignorant asshole goes "Oh Yeah, No Rain!"
We are 100% on the same page...I liked the first record, but man when soup dropped, it was a masterpiece
@@mikefields4136 It does my head in whenever I mention Blind Melon and the person I’m talking to says “Love No Rain!!! The No Rain guys right?” 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ There’s soooo much more to these guys than No Freaking Rain!!!!
@@frankeerhyme7416 Man I agree 150% brother. It's a shame that's all people knows by them ( and I actually prefer No Rain from the Nico album )
@@mikefields4136 Yeah same, the slower, stripped down version is shit tons better!👍
@@frankeerhyme7416 The Metro show is freaking amazing as well. Really, Really like it
This was a really Great, Live performance of this song. I’ve always loved this song. It’s different and it Rocks. Vocals were probably even better than the studio version and the Band was on Point. 👏🏽
Miss Your Presence Shannon !!!!!!!!
Blind Melon were an outstanding band!! I was lucky to see them live a couple times in San Francisco. Saw them 10 days before Shannon passed away! Great show, but Shannon was so HIGH!!! I've never witnessed a lead singer so high like that on stage. He still sounded great, but he was on another planet that night! Slim's (San Francisco) October 8,1995....
I personally think that this is an excellent live version😘😍
I agree. It was very dramatic and deep...he was close to death. The band knew it as well as the audience. He was an angel as he is now.
Amy Cohen yeah I know and agree with you too, one of their best songs, the lyrics😄
one of my favs
@@mommyof3_908 Lol no one "knew" he was close to death here. The band said that he was in a good place when he passed, it was accidental. He was changing for Nico...
@@justinbenoit4 yes when he died he had been struggling to keep clean. He had relapsed several times. I know his Mother, dude and a few of the band members "lol"
With tears in my eyes and goosebumps covering my body, I am stunned by this and Shannon"s similarities to Jim Morrison.
+kdev I agree wtf. Shannon unlike Jim lmao... They were not alike at all
Intense. Great band and Hoon was a star. It is a shame their record company didn't support the second album. This is a timeless and amazing sound.
He's so underrated just like the band. 30 years later still jamming to them and live they were amazing
It is by far one of the best if not the best songs of the 1990s, I was not a No Rain fan , but Galaxie ranks up there with the best, My two favorite bands from the 90s Blind Melon and #1 Faith No More. However there is no doubt that Shannon Hoon is singing his heart out here live. And the band is tight and powefuk
Typo powerful
I really can't understand why this song isn't more famous.
Such a beautiful and unique voice.
Is this the place that I want to be
Is it you who I want to see
Holding on, hold it high, show me everything
And you're leaving me, yeah you're leaving me
you're leaving me with a hated identity
But I keep on a comin' here and standing in this state
And I'm never really sure if you'll take what I'm saying the right way
But I'm not appalled or afraid verbal pocket play
Is as discreet as I can muster up to be
Because the Cadillac that's sittin' in the back
It isn't me
Oh, no, no, no it isn't me
I'm more at home in my galaxie
Can I do the things I wanna do
That I don't do because of you
And I'll take a left and I'll second
guess into a total mess
And you're leaving me
And you're leaving me
you're leaving me with a hated identity
No no no no it isn't me
No no no no it isn't me
No it isn't me
I'm more at home in my galaxie
Lame audience!!
Best live version of this song.
His voice is still so powerful
10-21-2021 Shannon died 10-21-95 he's been gone 26yrs today...I remember it like it was yesterday..good thing he is buried less than a mile from me I can visit him anytime best part is meeting fans from all over the world at his grave....RIP old buddy
Wow. Goosebumps. RIP Shannon
Shannon Hoon and Blind Melon. was the best thing to happen to music in a LONG time, to bad the drugs took him over DAMN, i LOVE THIS BAND. man, to bad you couldn't take it a little more easy with the drugs, RIP Shannon Hoon.... DAMN!!!!
I wish we could have had more blind melon. Love you shannon
Whenever I'm having a really bad day, I listen to this song and it all melts away. Thank u Melon
Fantastic song! RIP Shannon Hoon...He would have created a lot more great tracks just like this one.
What a voice!
He has a very great voice, ive never hear it live, but its better than the recorded.
I can listen to this song forever. Thank you Shannon and Happy Birthday!
Great live performance. So sad he's gone.
Shannon will always be the best!! In my opinion!!
even this is 10 x better than todays crappy performances.
I wish i could listen to this band and not have feel sad mixed with feeling of loss for ? Could have been...this song will always hold a special place in my ❤.. When i was in my 20s i had a 65 galaxie and im from IN... Was a great time in my life and this jam brings me back there.. Just sad Shannon left so soon.. But dont all the greats ?... Some just arent meant 2 be here for long.. Party on wherever you may be shannon Because who really wants to rest in piece 💀
He was ahead of his time he hated no rain and people love that song this last record was hot
Soup was phenomenal
LO MEJOR DE LO MEJOR... ESTA CANCION TIENE DE TODO .... ... SENTIMIENTOS ENCONTRADOS ...VIVA POR SIEMPRE SHANNON
How could this have any thumbs down blows my mind
This band was so on point . They really on there way up and shannon struggling so badly with trying to do the right thing , be a father , a friend and a good partner . The added stress of a bad review of soup which most of us blind melon fans know it will forever be known as a masterpiece and only the start of what shamnon was going to show us. He relapsed and pasted away of an overdose. The rehab even told everyone that he was not ready to tour yet.
Amazing, there has never been a better period for music than '91-'98 or so imho. I was a teen then so I may be a little biased.
your humble, but very correct opinion
I'll 3rd this comment. Hell i still wear cargo shorts and hoodies when I'm not working for "the man" jk. But this era was a melting pot of killer music rock rap punk funk r&b PANTERA hell even christians had some killers playing music.
Being a teen in that decade definitely a bias lol.
For me it would be 68-95
75 - 85 makes a great decade
I left part my soul back in mid90s.
I'm 46 and still haven't gotten it back.
Rehab by end 1996.
Drugs kids.
Don't start.
Some1 needs write a f'ing book, that's 4sure. 😉
Great live performance! One of my favorite songs ever.
I was pretty young when Blind Melon had No Rain out on MTV. I wasn’t a big fan of that, but hearing Galaxie from them blew me away.
It's...1 ,2, ,3, and nail it...
Job done 👍
Shannon really did perform live well. Not many artists are able to do that.
Masterful
Truly heartbreaking.
There are no bands like that now... BlindFcknMelon.... Amazing Galaxie and Soup album!!
Wow. I didn't listen to them much at the time--I thought they were just another hippie jam band. I was wrong though. Shannon Hood had a unique talent, and the band had substantial chops.
After watching many live vids from these guys, This one tops them all and is simply AMAZING!!!!
*Verbal pocket play* ;)
ALWAYS LOVING & MISSING YOU, MY DEAR SHANNON!
♡
I love this song!
Shannon Hoon -inmortal... se quedó en todos nosotros.
RIP SHANNON!
Miss you Shannon. What a loss.
Seems like the other members not realize how sad he was. Wish they were there for him more. RIP we love you shannon!
Love this song, still holds up to anything RIP SH
only 1 month before he died
Ikr.. but he doesn't look good here.😢
On my birthday.😔
...SONG OF THE DAY!!!
BLIND MELON - GALAXIE (1995)
They were playing so tight, so tuned into each other, just tops man
loved that song since day 1!!! my favorite Blindmelon track!!!
ooohhhhhhhh this song!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn they were good!
Loved this guy and ......fell out of ....doing the right thing and died
Wow, I just heard this on the radio… mind is blown 😮
The best
Beautiful

Increiblemente insano y magistral. Era muy pequeña, y descubro este grupo en 2015, estoy flipando, qué fucking crack
+Lu Von Schu Xixón Son maravillosos! Esta canción es genial!
This makes me think: after all these years, I need to haircut.
this sounds so good..sux he is gone :(
That was incredible.
Fantastic.

Jesus Christ what a voice
If you don't know this song, you know nothing about Blind Mellon.
legendary!!!
I love blind melon and Shannon. Forver
la tengo de ringtone(en mi galaxy) cuando suena me alegra cualquier llamada.
Pd; a mi señora le tengo the number of the beast ;D
Such an incredible performance. A real shame to know that Shannon died nearly a month after.
God bless you
