Captain Drew, I also have a 2007 Yamaha F50TLR. I really appreciate your informative videos a lot. I've been skeptical of working on mine (only 200 hrs) but you've made it easier for me. Thanks again my friend. Steve

Thanks for the thermostat and water pump videos. After doing an oil change the water flow slowed to a drip then nothing.
I was going to bring it for service when I found your you tube page. I don't know what one fixed it but in less than 2 hours after getting the parts it was back to normal again. You saved me a lot of money, Thanks again Jim

I appreciate your time and effort doing these video's, I have 06' Yamaha 90 TLR 2 stroke and being able to come to you tube and watch a well done video like yours sure gives me the confidence to work on it.... I hate paying someone for something I could do!

This was a very helpful video, extra points for zooming in. So many instructional videos are shot from a mile away! One question, if you are replacing the thermostat because it's bad, why would you save it for an emergency situation? I'm all for spare parts so could you explain this please? I genuinely want to know. Thanks!

Drew I really appreciate your videos
I used your water pump video and saved some money by diy but even after
I changed the pump impeller and still have a weak stream while idling and overheats unless I go faster than idle ( not sure what rpm the stream gets strong ) would a bad thermostat cause low water pressure or maybe I have some debris that I can't see I what is your advice
    and thanks again

    Hi
I enjoyed watching your videos. Would you make a video to show how to Replace timing belt? Thanks

    • @captaindrewcavanaugh
      @captaindrewcavanaugh  Рік тому

That is a tough one to do. It requires a pulley to remove the belt then the computer to make sure it is set correctly. I suggest you take it to a dealer.

Hey sir thanks for the video! I have a 07 Yamaha 15hp. It has a weak stream and the water coming out is very hot (steaming, hot to the touch) I replaced the impeller and I’m still having the same problem. I’m planning on doing the thermostat next and was wondering if you had any suggestions? Thank you

Where do you get your maintenance parts from. Local dealer? Or online. Thanks. Great videos by the way.

Usually at Gerry's Marine in New Smyrna Beach Florida. Local dealer. They ar ethe "Go To" for all of my Yamaha needs. The parts department and the service are pro grade. Been going there for over a decade. Call them and ask for Don and tell them you know me. They will answer and help in a lot of ways if they can even if you do not buy something.

I am wondering if you know how long the bolts are for the thermostat. I have the exact same housing on mine it's a 1998 and both the bolts have broken inside. Do you happen to know what size they are? I know your video is quite old hopefully you're still around😂

Thanks! I think I can see how to do it, they just have a tight spot and i have heard some people say they drill out the bottom cowling to access the bolts. I'm not sure I could fit my hand in to push the springs back to reassemble. Not overheating, I think I think I will take it to the shop in town. Thanks Captain Drew Cavanaugh!

Great video, but best don't scrape aluminium with a screw driver as this will generate much more corrosion . Cheers

It's not dirty, it is a corrosion coating spray from saltwater on it. Looks like wax.

What type of spray do you use. Seems like a good idea.

+Fabian Echagaray Try the thermostat first, that is very easy to see. If it is stuck open then there is your problem.
