You should make more videos. You do a great job explaining and demonstrating the required tasks. Consider a video on checking internal anodes and changing the water pump. Great job with this thermostat change.
Gday mate i have just bought a 2021 f40la and you know something it looks identical to yours , i wonder if there is any difference as i cant get a workshop manual for mine yet everything looks the same ,the internal anodes are different to any i have seen advertised tiny things with a screw going through the anode into a bolt (can see issues already with corrosion ) i dont know what yours are like i have seen the pencil ones on 50hp but this is the first video i have seen about a 40hp excellent teaching video dont give yamaha yourmoney do it yourself .
Hello, great video. Want to replace thermostat in Suzuki DF 140 2008. I don't think it needs a gasket but wanted to ask if the bolts need anti seize when replaced. thanks
I don't do it more than once every few years (depending on use). You may want to look up the recommended schedule. It's good to open it up once a year or so and lube the bolts because they can get corroded and become a real problem when you actually need to change the thermostat.
I have a small Yamaha 40hp outboard boat motor that takes 10-15 minutes to warm-up & run right. Already did new plugs, new Gas (91 octane), added Sea Foam to gas, but it is still doing it. Any suggestions &/or anyone know someone in Phx. Az that can look at it?
Could need to clean/rebuild the carburetors. Or possibly replace the thermostat. The thermostat allows a certain amount of water to flow through the engine to keep it at the right temp. If it doesn't regulate the flow properly, that cold cause the engine to get too hot, or never maintain the desired temp.
@@JimWellman If not installed, it will have full cooling all the time, and run poorly in colder water, taking very long time to heat up. I won't even run on full power until heated up.

Please do a video on spark plug change on 40 hp. Especially bottom plug. You cannot use a normal 18 mm socket . Thx
I'll make that happen this weekend....I think.

It wouldn't hurt.
@@JimWellman thanks
I have a 6hp yamaha. Steam is coming under the outboard when i go past half throttle. Do i need a new thermostat?
When do you typically change the thermostat?

just found this on rebuilding the carb on an f40. Seems like some good info that may help: ua-cam.com/video/UZLTH94Yvnk/v-deo.html
posssibly a stuck open thermostat check it if you havent done so
I wouldn’t even put a thermostat back I would leave it out because the water will always be flowing as soon as you crank it
The thermostat regulates the temp and is needed. If not installed, your engine may run hotter and may take longer to heat up after starting.
