I've watched this so, so many times. The first half I was just concentrating on the beauty of the arrangement and the visuals. Then I started concentrating on the lyrics. What an amazing song, and Geoff does it masterfully! Thanx, Lowell!!
The dwarves (and the "clone" names) are, from left to right: Kili (Geoff), Bofur (Jeff), Fili (Goff), and Thorin Oakenshield (Daryl). Geoff says clone Jeoph took the video off. Rick Underwood did a fantastic job of recreating the looks from Misty Mountains Cold, reusing the actual hair pieces from that video. Kathy pulled the costumes and props together, reusing pieces from MMC, as well as from other videos, such as The Rains of Castamere. Fun fact: The snare drum sound was created using a shovel in dirt and in sand. (Also, spirit gum remover is a godsend)
Glad you enjoyed. This is sort of a sequel to Far over the Misty Mountains (same costumes & beards). I've had this song on my playlist since it came out but I've never concentrated on the lyrics its just a nice song. Geoff's arrangement makes it so much more portentous & emotional.
Geoff loved this song and decided to bring back his Misty Mountains dwarves to cover it. He remarked that thankfully they were all avaialble to do it. :) Nice that we got to hear their individual voices in this. Such a haunting sound with an air of menace. As you say the film editing is amazing. Patreon members saw the first attempt and know. :)
So glad we got to hear all of the dwarves' voices individually in this song! In Misty Mountains, they stayed in harmony pretty much all of the time, and it was nice to be able to put a voice to each of them.
Awesome reaction. Rick Underwood is their long time makeup artist. He uses special body paints and special glue that's easy to remove. He worked at Disney World in Orlando Florida for 30 years before going on his own. This song is the end credits of hobbit 2 desolation of smaug. Smart is a dragon that sets their town and everything around it on fire. These 4 dwarves plus 9 more fight smaug to try and stop him. Thorin is the lead dwarf. Character names left to right... Killi... Bofur... Filli.... Thorin.
No one sets a mood and Makes you feel things like Geoff
So true!

Always enjoy your reactions and totally agree that Geoff set up the mood beautifully because it IS a song of foreboding!

Thank you for another great reaction to Geoff. He is amazing. His voice always matches the lyrics to any song he sings.
Geoff's best. It is remarkable, love the distinct voices of the brothers.
