  • It has been 3 weeks and 500 miles with the Scrambler 900 so I figured it was time for a quit check in and review.

SO I got the 2017 version of this bike as a left over in 2018 .. I got the center stand heated grips, tiger adventure foot pegs and the pannier rack that I made a wooden box to hold my rain suet and winter gear . I average 54 MPG and have a range of 160 to 170 miles per tank . I ride on low test of med test gas .. With 19K miles I am on my third chain and second set of sprockets (I ride dirt and gravel and winter salt so I am hard on the drive train) I have had two sets of Metzler Torance tires and am on a set of Michelin Anerkee 's at the moment ... Because the suspension is at best adequate the bigger foot pegs have been my favorite add (that and the heated grips in New England winter riding ) . ..Six years of joy .I do wish the gas tank was bigger and an Oleans set up would be fun but this bike owes me nothing and I am looking forward to the nest 20K miles with her ... Yours from New England , Guy

Nice video 👍👍😁😁….. I’ve had my one about 8 months and done 900 miles.
Using it 3 evenings a week as a city runabout and sometimes on weekend for a country excursion.
    Absolutely love it,
As a city bike it is fantastic, loads of low down torque so you can cruise around in any gear and instantly picks up and goes at the twist of the throttle.
It’s a small bike with a big engine so is nimble and agile while still powerful.
it is not the sort of bike that makes you want to go fast but it will when needed, so on the country roads with twisty bend it is lively and reliable, it gives you confidence in the bends.
It is not suited to long distance on motorways/Freeways but will do it, it is best at about 60MPH but will sit a 70 all day long. The other day I was in a slow queue on a motorway and the faster cars on the outside were threatening to box me in, so I opened it up and it accelerated from 50 to 90MPH very fast so I could just ride away from the problem and return to cruising speed again.
The High exhaust is fine, on hot days you don’t feel it while you are moving, stopped at traffic lights you find yourself leaning the bike over to get your thigh off of the pipe, it’s hot but it doesn’t burn.
In the winter you look forward to stopping at the lights to warm up off of the pipe 😁.
I have a throw over saddle bag, and I bought a fireproof mat to lay over the pipes so I don’t melt the bag, [which I hardly ever use]
Otherwise I have the quick fit and release single side pannier that you mentioned and a seat mounted bag.
    Dislikes
I bought a different seat because the standard one holds the water in the rain, but the new seat isn’t that comfortable.
[I am thinking of getting the original one reupholstered]
As a naked bike the wind rush at anything above 60MPH makes it unenjoyable to ride,
so I bought and fitted a headlight faring and this does the trick, it diverts the wind off of your chest but your head still gets buffeted.
[this is OK because the small mini faring still looks OK and suits the look of a city bike but you can still take a quick blast up the motorways with ease.]
Tyres… it came with tubeless tyres but it has tubes inside the tyres because of the spoked wheels,
I found that they leak air slightly over time so you need to keep a close eye on the tyre pressures.
I read that you can get the spoked wheels sealed so the tyres can be tubeless but this is sound like too much hassle ti be worth it.
The biggest thing I find annoying is the relatively small tank and a fuel warning light coming on too early.
When riding short little journeys around the city everyday You find yourself fuelling up earlier than you need to because the warning light bugs you.

Researching this bike is what brought me to your channel. I really liked your real life errand review method, energy, and your illustration of how you fit on the bike. I’m looking for a good all-arounder that’s gravel road capable. This one is looking good! Thanks for the video!

Thanks for watching. I appreciate you. Sounds like this would be a great option for ya, especially if you don't want to go the full ADV bike route.

Beautiful bike! The lack of storage is the reason I'll be picking one of these bikes up as my secondary bike. Main one being a Harley Low Rider ST. Can't wait to see how you decide to customize this one

I have 10,400 miles on mine.
Great backroads brawler. I plum wore out the original front and rear tires in 7,000 miles, almost down to the cord. If I only had one bike, this would be it.

Got my scrambler 900 last week. Subbed to your channel to follow all your scrambler mods 👍 I'm super happy with the bike, I just wish they had the cruise control option available

Cruise control on a scrambler !? These bikes should be as basic as they can be. You need to be looking at something else ! Maybe a car 🤷🏻‍♂️

I put 16,000 miles on my Street Scrambler (as it was then). The only thing I didn't like was the dipswitch (high/low beam switch), which I constantly hit accidentally when wearing thick winter gloves. Same problem on my current 1200 Scrambler. This may not be the problem for you that it is for me in the UK. 🙂

The seat screw is a real pain in the backside; exact same thing happened to me -- one twist too many on the screwdriver and pop, broken! If only the system was made of metal instead of plastic...

I believe/I hope the twin seat I showed just runs off of the key because that plastic bit is wayyy too fragile. Thanks for watching the video. I appreciate it.
