    Nice video, very informative. I thought 6" was the minimum for wires in boxes, so wouldn't you of had to install pigtails to the wires old wires to extend them?

    Good video. But looking for something a little different. I have to coach style lights on either side of bathroom mirror.Both have built in push button switches. Would like to REPLACE one with just a switch for an over the mirror light bar, and REPLACE the other side with JUST an outlet . Possible video for either ?? Thank you.

    Thank you. Two questions: do you have to ground the box as well in this case or it’s made of a non conductor material? The other question is: it looks as you cut the wires less than 6 inches from the box …. How long is the minimum? Thanks

  • @thomasfoster5200
    @thomasfoster5200 Рік тому +2

    I have a stupid question. Couldn't you have just added 2 pigtails to the existing Hot, Nuetral, and ground and avoided running the new line.

    Very nicely done. I'm in a apartment, it was a garage conversion and the electric is a mess. They pushed all the wires in the backs of terminals. One day I came home. I hit the switch for the ceiling fan and heard a big pop. And both the outlet and switch blew out. Now I have no ceiling fan. I open up the box and now not sure what wire is off. It's a metal box and not sure what's wrong or right

    Did you ever make the video going from a receptacle box to switch? There's a room i'm working on that has 2 heavy duty receptacles GFCI, & a ceiling fan, before i rip their wall apart to confirm that one was actually a light switch previously, I was thinking if it wasn't i could just piggy tail the light in & just replace the GFCI with a light switch or do it side by side like you are, which didn't occur to me at first. Idk what do you think about my theory? 11:02 & yup the one i'm doing atm is a tabbed blue box that came out of the wall it is extremely old though. Might as well update the light & make a switch while i'm at it.

      There was a change in code where now the ‘norm’ is to have the hot and the neutral in the switch or receptacle. Then it’s easy to pigtail those to a new receptacle. If this is what you have, then you’re good to go. Wago nuts are really convenient for a DIYer.
