    Thank you for the quick and easy explanation. My engine kept shutting off when I left off the trigger. Turns out that debris was stuck in the bypass side (just as you have explained). Thank you! Sorry Mr. Mechanic you're gonna have to wait until the next one.

    your pressure washer could be stalling due to unloader failure. if the pressure has no where to go it can overcome the motor and shut it off.

    Hi, when I hook up water to my pump I get NOTHING out the outlet at all.
    Normally it will flow water even with pump not running.
    Does this mean my unloader is stuck?

    Hi , I have a 5.6gpm General pump I also have a AR North America VRT3-250 Unloader Blue Spring unloader valve. My problem is when I turn up the pressure to 2000psi it seems to lock up the pump pulley . It works fine under 2000 psi or at least it doesn't lock up and spin the belt till it's smoking. I appreciate any help. The pump is fairly new and so is the unloader.

    I bought a simpson 3200psi washer last year. used it literally once. sat in garage with sta-bil in the gas for a year. got it running again this year and now it barely has any pressure at all. engine seems fine, it's still brand new. is this a common problem with leaving the washer sit for a long time? what do you think it is? it might still be under warranty. was kept indoors, never in freezing temps

    • @MGCleanersLLC
      @MGCleanersLLC  8 років тому +1

      Good morning. This can be a common problem if a pressure washer sits up, the seals will dry out. However, it could be a list of things causing the loss of pressure; Supply lines (any leaks in the hose can cause loss of pressure,)
      Drive Line: Insure that the shaft or pulley is is turning with the machine.
      Unloader: If the unloader is in fact bad, it will be unloading the rated GPM to somewhere else in the system. This will either cause the machine to dump water or recirculate it into the pump. Unloaders will fail open by design. Water going anywhere other than through the wand is a good indicator or unloader issues.
      Filter/Screen: Most washers have a water filter or at least a screen on the inlet side of the pump. blockage of this screen/filter can result in pressure loss.Debris at any point in the system can cause pressure loss.As far as warranty is concerned, it really depends on what is wrong. Warranty typically covers manufacturers defect, something wrong with the actual build of the machine that caused a failure. Packing, valves, unloaders, supply hoses, etc. are all considered consumable items and are not covered under warranty unless a design flaw damaged them. Hope this is helpful.

  • @mab123080
    @mab123080 5 років тому

    If the o ring in the quick connect coupler going out to gun breaks, would that essentially prevent the unloader from doing it's job and not be able to shut off into bypass mode? mines blowing water out and if I let off the trigger it blows out more water and builds pressure until the engine stalls.. Just discovered this after watching your video..I did the test you described and now I'm questioning if it's something different causing it to over pressurize and also have low pressure at gun tip?? Thanks much. great video!!

    • @MGCleanersLLC
      @MGCleanersLLC  5 років тому +1

      It sounds like you may also have a valve issue. As the unloader is dumping pressure and the packing is still building up just slowly it maybe a valve issue. However, I always recommend if you change the valves to change the packing also.

    • @mab123080
      @mab123080 5 років тому

      Stephen Christian Thanks much for the advice! Believe it or not, I changed both the female couplers coming off the pump and the shit off ball valve ( added shut off so I can change different length guns and surface cleaner with out turning off engine ) and they were both split in half. Started right up and I’ve done two houses with it with no issues and good pressure.
      Seems like the pressure gauge may have frozen or something since it doesn’t move, giving me a false reading.

      Do you have any videos on how often pump oil should be changed and proper procedure? I haven’t found any good ones yet.. is it abnormal for pump oil to look kind of milky and bubbly? This pump was replaced brand new about two years ago, but doesn’t really get used much other than to clean my lawn care equipment and a few houses for mowing customers..

      If you can feel the pressure building and it is not relieving that pressure from the unloader you need to replace it before it causes serious damage to your machine or you.

    I have a AR RMV2.5G30D, pressure is fine at first but after a while when the pump warms up i get almost no pressure out of the gun(still have water flowing out of gun just no pressure) when i spray water on the pump for 30 seconds the pressure builds back up and i get pressure for about 45 seconds. It is extremely time consuming when washing my house. could this be symptoms of a bad uploader?

    I have a BE "up to 3100psi (with 7 hp) pump, new, that I am putting in place of an older, unavailable style pump. Pump came with few instructions. The red unloader cap was packed separately in a bag. I figured out where it went but thought the screw in the center of valve was for retaining it . I turned it just maybe one full turn. Is that cap just supposed to press on? And what does that screw do? Thanks.

    • @MGCleanersLLC
      @MGCleanersLLC  10 років тому

      yes most of the time the cap just presses on over the nut. The cap is used as a handle to turn the nut to change the pressure rating. If you adjusted it I would recommend to try and turn it back to where was. If you have a pressure gauge you can put on the machine you can set the pressure with the machine.

    I have a Stingray hot pressure washer. Got it back from a friend and the relief valve disc had burs ted. I just found the replacement part today. In the meantime I plugged relieve valve and ran it, when I let go of the nozzle it blow the end off o the hose. I took the unloader apart and the ball was stuck to the housing. do you think this could have been the issue. I wouldn't say stuck bad. It popped right off with a screwdriver. I was adjusting the pressure spring all the way down but it didnt make a difference.

    • @MGCleanersLLC
      @MGCleanersLLC  7 років тому

      Sorry for the delay I have been out of the office. Yes the stuck unloader is most likely what caused the relief valve to blow. This is what the relief valve main function is to keep from over pressuring other components. I would say that you will need a new unloader. Once they start to give you problems rarely can you get by without replacing it. Thanks for the comment I hope this helps.

    What does "washed out" mean? Also I have seen rebuild kits, Would they work? my pulsar 4 is in full bypass and doesnt get any pressure to the wand.

    • @MGCleanersLLC
      @MGCleanersLLC  8 років тому +1

      +Extreme Clean "Wash out" refers to natures ability to erode a surface with water. Typically this happens in a system that has a water source with light sand or other debris in it. It can also occur with clean water after many hours of use. In an unloader, one or several parts of the valve are "cut" by the water pushed though them, causing the valve to leak by and bypass.
      Rebuild kits are an option as long as there isn't any wear on internal parts that don't come in the rebuild kit. From your description, its hard to determine whether a rebuild kit would be sufficient or not. Feel free to contact us with any further questions as we are happy to help out any way we can!

    How can I tell if my unloader is stuck open or closed? I removed the black plastic hand turn piece and once I removed the spring and nut it freely moves up and down but yet I still have zero pressure

    • @MGCleanersLLC
      @MGCleanersLLC  6 років тому

      It depends on a few things. However if you have zero pressure and you know your packing in the pump is ok and the valves are working properly your unloader is where to start. The easiest way to know is if the pump is building pressure in the bypass mode. So if you release the trigger and the unloader goes into bypass and the pump builds the normal amount of pressure it is most likely your unloader. Once you squeeze the trigger if the pressure completely falls out again you know it is your unloader. Be careful with this test though as a stuck valve can sometimes give you the same results.
      Also what did the plunger and seat look like on the unloader when you took it apart? If it had damage to either even a little it is no good. I hope this helped a little.

    Hi Steve
    My unloader leaks from underneath the pressure adjustment knob when I pull the trigger. Could you please give me advise

    • @MGCleanersLLC
      @MGCleanersLLC  5 років тому

      If it is leaking under the knob that means that the water is getting around the seat and is most likely washed out. You most likely will need to replace the unloader.

    cat pumps recommends 5% water flow through bypass when trigger is pulled...you said there should be none. I am having trouble reaching full psi with my unit. any thoughts?

    • @MGCleanersLLC
      @MGCleanersLLC  6 років тому +1

      We don't recommend that due to any water flow through the unloader means a partially open valve. Which causes damage to the valve. If you are having flow back with the trigger pulled and not making psi I would recommend changing it. You may have to change your packing and valves also but I would start with the unloader.

    • @MGCleanersLLC

      Do you have a pressure gauge on the unit? It sounds like the pump is pressuring up to high and over powering the engine. If so please be careful with it as the hose or something else could fail.

    • @MGCleanersLLC
      @MGCleanersLLC  8 років тому

      +Eiud González Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you! It does seem like there could be an unloader issue going on. Several things to check:
      1. Check the nozzle for blockage. Small impediments can get into the tip of the gun and cause pressure issues.
      2. Check your inlet screen. There should be a screen filter on your machine where the water goes into the pump. Make sure that it isn't plugged.
      3. If the first two are clean and clear, you can check an unloader by looking at the bypass line coming from the unloader. If it is pouring water, the unloader may be washed out or bad.
      On a smaller machine, the unloader may be built into the pump. Your machines service manual should give some indication as to where the unloader is. On most home-owners machines, the unloaders are built in and can be replaced. I would; however, check the prices on the unloader AND a new pump. Sometimes the cost difference is small enough to justify putting a new pump on the machine altogether. Please let us know if you have any other questions or still need help! Thanks for watching!

      Hello! Sorry to hear of your issues with your washer. We'll do all we can to provide you with some helpful information!
      We'll need a few more bits of information on your machine to give you an accurate diagnosis.
      Is this a homeowners machine or a larger industrial type?
      Does your machine draw from a pressured supply (water hose) or a tank?
      Do you have water coming from any part of your pump other than the wand? (even drips in a supply line can cause an issue.)
      Is your pump direct(shaft) driven or belt driven?
      Also, a few pictures of your setup or a model number of the machine would give us a visual to go off of to help you troubleshoot.
      Some simple things to check while you are looking at your machine:
      Supply lines: (any leaks in the hose can cause loss of pressure.
      Filter/Screen: Most washers have a water filter or at least a screen on the inlet side of the pump. blockage of this screen/filter can result in pressure loss.
      Hope this helps!
