a pathfinding mob farm for structureless Superflat 1.20.1

- this mob farm is made for a specific Minecraft challenge, "structureless super flat", where the only resources given to you are 3 blocks of grass and a bonus chest.
this farm uses carpets gained from sheep and dirt to make a basic mob farm until you save enough for a cauldron/water to make a normal mob farm.
this farm is designed by me but takes a lot of inspiration from ilmangos design and video: "Pathfinding mob farm 1.14"

Hi yall! Little update. Use carpets to spiderproof instead of blocks.
Also make sure you stand a medium distance away from the farm, to give mobs the ability to spawn. Hope this help to those whos farms didnt work.
And yes it works on bedrock

One question:On what distance do I wait mobs to spawn and on what height?I standed for like 20 mins right under the farm and nothing spawned.I wonder if i should move away form the farm or go up?
@@petardjonic5280 probably move away from the farm, going up would be unnecessary, about 20 or so blocks should do it.

okay so since endermen keep on spawning in the farm and griefing it im gonna make it 2 blocks high and will write results here just incase anyone wants them

Either the dimensions are different from what's shown, or my brain isn't working properly. Aside from that, I rebuilt it in a creative world, block for block, and I've got to say I love the brilliance of using carpets to trick mobs into the long drop. Keep up the good work!

i did some testing in a creative world and it seems like you can save on carpets if you have only 2 of them stacked in a corner, with the blocks surrounding them being air. you can also save on dirt by just having a small platform, not a cube of dirt for them to pathfind to. you could probably save carpets by having a different area that only spiders are able to pathfind to so they dont clog the hole in the corner, but im not sure on it

you're a lifesaver, thanks a lot for this, though one small detail, since the farm is made of dirt, endermen will constantly be moving around blocks a lot, this is a problem since the gaps will let light in, which will make mobs spawning in there less common, so you'll have to manually go up there and patch them up.
I think you can solve this by making the cages only two blocks tall so the endermen can't spawn inside, or make the whole thing out of wool (they can't pick up that block)
You can also surround it with wool

For anyone wondering it works on bedrock Superflat but super slow, better off making a mob room with a hole in the floor to get the iron, and one you get the water from the cauldron I made a room 24 blocks up 8 blocks out on each side and a water trail one block deep leading to a hole that’s 4x4 and it spawns mobs so much faster

For anyone who has a farm with water bu doesnt work its because glow squids spawn which make light in the farm. to prevent them from spawning you have to bluid your farm at y30 or above (not very sure what the exact height is)

it does not work for me for some reason they are not dropping down only 3 dropped down and i made sure it was built correctly, i put dirt paths on top of the farm and under and it still doesn’t work, help would be appreciated
@@turbothugg yeah lol, I tested it and it doesn’t work for bedrock, carpets don’t count as like full block or whatever makes trapdoors work, so I just had to look up a different mob farm that works

I put dirt paths under the mob farm and its much more efficient now but I need to put carpets at the top because for some reason dirt paths let in light even when there's no gap
how do you get the shovel tho? using 2 sticks and an iron ingot kinda expensive for structureless superflat

Hi! I made a little change to the farm. When they fall down, they fall 3 blocks and fall in water. And that water drops them down, so i can kill them. Glow squids also spawn, but they fall down so i can collect glowing ink too. It's bad that enderman destroy the farm though. Good design overall.
the one problem with that is that it takes a while to get water in struchterless superflat. good idea though

Is it okay to hollow out the cube in the middle of the farm? Will it change the mob spawn rates?
Well this farm works by using mob path finding and the cube makes it so that mobs well "pathfind" so its necessary to fill the cube

Well you might be too close to the farm so mobs might not spawn.
Other then that I'd make Shure thare isn't any light going into the farm,

Sorry to hear that, you could use carpets and see if that fixes it, also make Sure thare arnt 3x3 spawning area's in the farm , hope this helps.

You have to fill out all of the blocks in the middle and place the carpets as shown in the video. Maybe you did something wrong there

This is unavoidable, unless you want to build your mobfarm above y level 63.

Help my farm is broken.Sometimes it works and drops few mobs i dont know how and most of the time doesnt drop anything.I tried to lower render distance, to kill slimes and nothing.Please help me if you know how.
Are the slime chunks around the farm spawn proofed? If not the slimes fill the cap and no other mobs can spawn

@@hawks4128 yea you can't really do much for the endermen, but as for the spiders if you use carpet it should fix them spawning.

You will need to slime proof the surrounding area for the farm to spawn mobs at a high rate, or you could build it high up

This didn't work for me. Mobs don't spawn inside of the area, there is no light source preventing them from spawning either. playing in 1.20.1.
have you spawn proofed the slime chunks around the farm? if not then the mob cap is probably full.

Yes but thare are much more efficient farms then this one
