Young lady, please do not get tattoo, because our body is God's temple-meaning sacred. In the Christian bible it says, "You shall not etch tattoo on yourself. You are my temple, therefore, do not make my temple filthy."

In Philippines, the Catholic Priests says, "The Mass is finish, so go forth and multiply" (tapos na ang missa, kaya humayo kayong lahat at mag pakarami).
This is the reason why I love Catholics, and this is the reason why our population is high.

don't be sorry for the poor internet connection in Phil.. we are actually also mad about that as well. lots of memes (jokes) in social media are made because of that. with regards to the traffic jam, most filipinos wake very very very early just to get a time allowance just incase the traffic jam gets worst on the way. thanks for the honest and kind review by the way Mana! ✨

The philippines is actually bigger than people think and can easily accomodate the whole population without overcrowding. The main issue is, most job opportunities are in NCR so people all over the country are going to Metro Manila, making it very congested and overpopulated. What the government need to do is provide incentives or benefits for companies to have their headquarters outside of Manila so people wont need to be so concentrared in one region.

Thanks mana san for your honest opinion, and me as a Filipino really appreciate it. The problem with overcrowding and traffic jam is because the development is mainly focused on Metro Manila and not so much development was done on nearby provinces for many decades. There are also a lot ongoing transportation projects like additional railway system and even a subway system with the help of the Japanese government. But evenso, this transportation projects were also finished if the development on National Capital Region nearby provinces will not go into full swing, it will still be the same traffic congestion. And i was really touch with your sentiments about the gap of the rich and poor, and this is really true. You're really an adopted daughter of this country mana-san and even with the negative side of this country, we hope you will still enjoy staying with us, because we Filipinos value friendship like a precious crystal, unbreakable.

My parents wasn't just surprised, they thought I became a gangster! I found tattoo friendly onsens in Aomori-ken & Tokyo. My parents no longer think I'm a gangster. My mother just calls me "asshole marine" even though I was an army officer. Eventually I'll visit the Philippines again.

I think it is because of the ancient culture. Tribal people actually think highly of tattooed people because they don't receive tattoos without achievements.
Spanish called tribal people with tattoos as pintado (painted).
Many people are bothered by people with tattoos but the younger generations think nothing of tattoos
But of course people don't speak about it and ignore the tattoos. It is about generation differences.

You get the correct points. This will help to get awareness of what to expect and what solution to do.. about tattoos before only a few people have it, due to old mental beliefs that if you have tattoos, you came from prison or more likely a criminal.. for the internet, why so slow, there are two things in my personal opinion, 1st slow due to so many people are using the network, 2nd may be the network company want to earn more profit means they are not doing the upgrade. Just for two issue at this time I give.. I am agree on your point..happy also because of this honest opinion may higher official from our government see this and they work more to develop.

All your observations are correct, most Filipinos, including myself agree 100% they are facts. I also lived in Japan for 11 years and yes, I say the same things about Japan; very organized, very respectul and polite culture, very safe. I definitely enjoyed my experience in Japan. I also realize my observations are because of the Japanese culture that's very rules based that most people follow. The downside to that is some of those rules may be considered too rigid and and can result in someone not following them to be unfairly ostracized. Yes, there are good and not so good points about every culture and the most important thing is that you clearly love Philippine culture both it's good and bad points. You are not alone about the internet. The Philippines is lagging behind compared to our neighboring countries. It's improving. About traffic, hopefully, once the subway and other mass public transport and the new international airport in Bulacan are completed, traffic issues will improve significantly.
I agree with you about the population growth in the Philippines. One of the major reasons is that the country is predominantly Catholic, and birth control is frowned upon. So, we don't have a good birth control program in place. Secondly, most of us want to have more than one child, which means having the possibility of more help financially in the future and when we are old. We hope one of them can bring us out of poverty. But the downside is bringing children into poverty, adding to the financial and economic burden to the family and the community at large. There is no quick solution to the poverty and population growth in the Philippines. And I agree with you about Japan. I lived there for 3 years, and even little things such as sorting your trash correctly were stressful. I'm glad you are experiencing the local life, and I appreciate your honesty. Every country has positive and negative aspects. Have to love the positives and lived with the negatives.

Wdym problems in population? I think, we are in our prime in terms of population control (based on numbers), with a birth rate of 2.1, we have a population that replaces itself. It's just that, it takes time to see the effects of population control economically as well as on how to effectively distribute those who give birth across different social classes. The majority of these births came from poor families who can't even provide their own basic needs.

I heard from "8 miles from home" channel that internet in Japan is slower than in the Philippines. They've been to Japan. I've been to Japan (Osaka & Kyoto) too and my experience was the internet is not that fast. Im going to Tokyo next month and i will try the speed of the internet there as well.

Hi Mana. Since you're here, you should see a wedding and film it, so you could see some of the Philippine traditions that we do. So you can see. It may be a good thing. Our wedding will be in Los Angeles. So, our relatives can't complain why they didn't attend. Our wedding is in July. Weddings are a beautiful thing.

Tattoo stereotype is still like here but people don't care enough to not let you in unlike in Japan having Tattoo means like you have a connection to the Yakuzas. Here there's very a huge disparity between the social classes here which isn't good for the economy. Having a global mindset is also what's holding back PH , we have the highest workforce overseas worldwide , that includes a huge portion as mariners and the world's largest supply of nurses. Japan might need that to have a more flexible mindset due to old tradition holding it back but PH had it too much. The greatest talents in the PH doesn't benefit the country other than money as taxes if they're overseas workers. Other countries greatly benefits from these talents innovations and such as a ph engineers creating semiconductor chip that benefited one of the huge companies and the patent was done in those country , ph doesn't get benefits from it. Most great talents here go abroad to work and live there , because the country can't support them efficiently therefore most of their contributions ended up benefiting foreign countries. That's also the reason why this place is still a 3rd world country.

Hi Mana! I agree with everything you said, its still developing country but more years to come, I firmly believe that we will have ECONOMY BOOM someday. Why?
    1. There are many airports that are currently developing like Manila International Airport in Bulacan that will be 1 of the biggest airport in our country soon.
    2. There's a Manila Subway currently on construction that will connect to major cities like Makati and BGC.
    3. There will be a next BGC in our country which is New Clark City in Tarlac that will attract many people around the world, its gonna be like a community / business hub.
    4. There's gonna be a 1st cable car ongoing somewhere north, I think Isabela or Vigan city.
FYI: The internet is really slow because of geographical disadvantage, we're in an archipelago country so we have to install Cell Towers in 7,641 islands 1 by 1, its really challenging.
Our government is doing our best as much as possible. They have political will.

We are 30-40 years beyond because the previous government has not done nothing same as this new government and if the Dutertes and or the Marcoses will be running the government again, the status quo will maintain.

@@arnieljovero1008Do you mean 30-40 years behind not beyond? I agreed with your comment as PH need a different leader one day who has courage to move the country forward and improve the living standards.
