We take a look at the world of Minecraft Stans. This video contains Minecraft, Stans, Cringe, Tommyinnit and Georgenotfound, some left4dead gameplay, and a gamer that took it too far.
I feel like it's especially bad for Dream because he got so popular after just starting his channel that he doesn't quite know how to handle it. Fame is not something that you're just suddenly hit by like that. When it does though, it doesn't go well. And in the end, I don't really understand because I find all of them hilarious except Dream.
@@matmaks6367 it doesnt affect them because they don't care about it. That's how so much fanart and stans have gone out of control in the community. Instead of addressing it and telling people its wrong, they embrace it and just support it even more (im talking about specific youtubers like dream) while other youtubers like Tommy have talked about it before and said that it's messed up.
I miss the days when Minecraft was iBalisticSquid and Stampylonghead. They were just two bros, chillin on the Internet playing a game they love because that’s what they wanted to do that day.
That sad thing is, I used to really like Quackity prior to the whole dream amp thing. He was actually entertaining and funny, and had more mature content. Now he is just "smp dreamboy number 5" You can't even find any of his old content when you look him up because it's all buried under and infinite sea of fan cams, and quirky animations.
@@DaveMiller87 As someone who has been a fan of quackity for three years now but is also an mcyt fan, I understand not really being into his newer content. It's not for everyone, and I get it. I'm still a huge fan of Quackity, and I'm happy he's making stuff he likes! :)
I've been a fan of Alex since 2017 & as far as I can tell, he seems to be genuinely happy with the friends, content, lore, & merch that he has made since joining the dreamsmp. I'm happy for him & it certainly isn't going to stop me from viewing & enjoying his content. There are some members from the smp that I casually enjoy seeing clips of that will get suggested to me here on UA-cam. I also will sometimes come across their tweets or Instagram posts. I think for the most part, people exaggerate the occasional controversy that some of them will wind up in, & shit talk them just to make stans angry when some of those content creators are genuinely enjoyable. I especially like when those friends of Alex do irl or in game etc. streams with him, since he's the whole reason that I know about the dreamsmp & the people in it in the first place. I honestly enjoy the animations that people make of clips from Alex & his streams. I think it's cool to see they way people exaggerate his expressions in their own art styles. Obviously there will always be people in every fandom at all ever whom are ridiculous, overly obsessed, or at very least - a little strange. There's nothing that can be done about that, & the massive size of the fandoms & their access to twitter makes it impossible not to come across those kinds of people. It's really unfortunate to see the loud minority ruin the overall image of a group or the subject of interest in the group, i.e. a content creator, or even a show or game, etc.
Tbh the people who are super into schlatt are the worst. They tend to be overly edgy teens, and edgy cringe is always worse than wanna be wholesome cringe
As someone who just thinks the smp members are funny and doesn't care about the deep lore, I think stan culture can ruin any community and shipping real life people seems kinda messed up to me.
Same takioka San. I love these youtuber and streamers but I don't watch EACH and every video. Stan's really ruin it but I can somehow understand because most of the stans are under stress and pressure so they rely on these youtubers to make them happy.
I wouldn’t say that about the shipping. 1), they stated many times that they are fine with this and think it’s funny, and two, even a FANFICTION (and I mean a F A N F I C T I O N) made a band called glass animals way more popular, whilst before the people gatekeeped the songs (including me whoops). And who I mean by they is of course Dream and George. Other people like Skeppy and BBH are also fine with it, some have their own boundaries like Ranboo and Tubbo, but in conclusion; they’re all so chill. Thanks to mainly Dream, the community is a safe one to be in.
@@isha9300 How is that thanks to dream? He literally protects his stans even after they harass and doxx people for no reason. He never adresses it and never controls them.
A lot of these people are middle and high schoolers, and a lot of them are probably going through a lot of stress, so it's nice that they can watch these people that make them happy. But, it often gets out of hand. They start getting obsessed because it's the main/only thing that helps them. They start watching these youtubers in all their free time and it takes over their lives. It's like a boulder, once it starts rolling down a hill, it's very hard to stop. I think it's important for teens to have multiple outlets and hobbies so they don't end up like this. I've personally gotten obsessed with many things before, and it feels really bad, especially when that thing you loved so much ends or you stop enjoying it. You feel like there is nothing good left in your life. I know it sounds stupid because we're talking about kids watching youtubers play minecraft, but this shit happens and can be very damaging to these kids' mental states.
I kinda relate I have a few youtubers I watch sometimes when I'm stressed because while you watch them you feel safe and stress free and everything else just disappears. It's kinda unhealthy when it gets to a certain level though and as sad as it sounds you do have to remind yourself that you do not know this person and they dont know you and they are probably a really different person off camera, ( which isnt necessarily a bad thing) anyways I've yet to put photos of a youtuber on my wall or make a stan account so I cant say I have an issue
It’s also a very easy fandom for nd people to get hyper fixated on due to the constant content, that’s why it makes me sad that most people pass it off as some weird obsession
I just wanna say I'm glad your comparison uses vtuber streamers, way too many vtuber simps thinks too highly of themselves just because they stan a 2d anime girl instead of an irl streamer lmao
I downloaded Twitter and all I can see is Loki stans talking about how he’s hot *Please Twitter I love marvel but I don’t want to see the dogshit that is stans*
Philza and Jschlatt seem to be able to deal with the kinda stan stuff pretty well. Personally love Jschlatt’s approach of “I’m a grown ass man it doesn’t help me to humour the angry children” I don’t see the issue with Tommy or Tubbo, they’re just kids themselves with their own separate things (such as Tommy’s vlog channel which Tubbo helps) Wilbur feels like he’s around the same scale of Philza. Knows how he and his friends should be treated so he never really feeds into that kind of culture. Started with music and Soothouse before the minecraft scene. Never liked Dream and his approach to the obsession, but can’t help but feel bad for the dude when there are full investigations into his family and private life by teenagers just to find out what he looks like
as someone who could probably be called a "minecraft youtuber stan" like all communities, there are two sides to it. the side that just likes the content and likes to talk abt it and not be weird or creepy, and the side thats just really creepy or annoying. there are really nice people in this community i have met and theres always that good side of a fandom. this is really just a thing that happens with every community. and yeah a lot of the things that people post is just cringey or creepy lol.
no such thing as a non-creepy stan. the term "Stan" comes from Eminems song, and it is basically defined as creepy and annoying. If you aren't a creepy stan, you're just a fan.
it’s all just stan culture tbh. it’s the same thing with other youtuber stans and kpop stans. they never know when to draw the line between being a stan and being completely consumed and obsessed by said thing. it’s rooted in stan culture. yes, other people are going to think it’s weird or crazy that people stan mc youtubers but to me it’s just another stan culture thing. i used to be a kpop and a youtuber stan so i know where all of these people are coming from but now that i’ve stepped away i now see where people are coming from and i never understood that because i was never able to fully step away from this. it took such a long time bc i was always attaching myself to people and hyperfixating on people and things due to my adhd but now that i have more control over it i can separate myself and just casually watch youtubers or movies or shows and not be completely consumed or obsessed with it. it all just boils down to stan culture, it’s always been a thing and at this point it always will :/
Anyone remember Justin Bieber? he built a cult too, but at least he didn't feed it despite being too young to really grasp what was going on Justin was more mature than these dipshits
As long as teenagers and internet have existed, this sfuff has existed, in many different kinds and forms all with the same exact parallels to be drawn. Tumblr would be the main research material if stan culture and internet cults were to be scientifically researched.
i’ve liked dream and george for a really long time and it’s kind of horrifying how in love people are with them not to mention the fact that dream is literally a faceless, anonymous account
so weird to me that wilbur soot is a huge minecraft youtuber now lol. used to be obsessed with soothouse, it’s strange seeing him with such a huge following making such different content.
As somebody who is part of this Fandom, I can say these stans are scary, not only will they go after people who don't like these people, they will also go after them for listening to music
The amount of DNF fics I’ve come across on Wattpad…honestly just wanna see some good horror story from z0mbies or MissHorrendous (forgot their username) but now I’m this close to delete the app
As someone who really enjoys watching the dream smp and making fan art and stuff, it's dissapointing how weird and sad the "fandom" Around it has become. But ya know, younger kids are really good at ruining stuff lol
To me the sadest thing is how generalized we are. Honestly on all my social media I've been able to avoid toxic stans, and to find them I have to activly be looking. Even on twitter my timeline is just all of us drawing and talking about the latest streams! Staying on the good side is easy, and it sucks when the toxic people are so paid so much more attention to :(
Nice video. I, however, think your explanation on why these people grew so fast isn’t the full story. I wish to give my insight into the appeal of these Streamers and YTers, I think the main pull factors to these streamers is that their sense of humor is safe, not as in its dumbing people or unchallenging, but just that they don’t include heavy or controversial topics. It broadens the appeal. I also think another main reason is that every streamer has their own distinct personality and have showmanship. For Example, Tommy has this very stubborn but determined personality for example which compliments well with Dreams very planned out and silent personality. What finally pulls it all in is the DreamSMP’s glorified role playing has an expansive and easy to understand history. People get to see all of their favorite streamers and YTers take up roles and tell a story that has climatic high points (Dawn of The 16th, Disc Confrontation, and the War of Independence for example). There are clear motives for every character; which is what attracts people even further. I think it’s a combination of all these things that attract people to these streamers.
That was well put. I have to agree. The success of creators like Tommy and Dream is truly phenomenal. But something about it strikes a note that is comforting, entertaining, and keeps you interested. Dream and George completing a “We coded a plugin that!…” is honestly a little lazy in concept and repetitive. But I think its the repetitiveness that lends itself to a sense of safety and comfort. You get to sit back and enjoy two good friends mess around and complete a wacky fun challenge and for those 20 or so minutes, all the horrible darkness of the world, the crushing existential nihilism, dissolves. We enjoy their friendship vicariously because we all wish we had a friendship that seemed natural like this. I think the ever growing ravaging fan base is a reflection of how lonely we are. Videos and streams from these content creators are a safespace for these people. They have taken it to be a part of their identity, who they are as a person. If you criticize Dream, Tommy, or any of the others, they take it personally as an attack on their core identity. Its amazing that there is and outlet and relief from the hardships of life, but ultimately the relationship these stans have with these content creators is very unhealthy. Someday Dream, Tommy, and all these other creators will have to reckon with this. I view all content creators and celebrities as human beings. They don’t know me, and likely never will. Thats okay. There is nothing intrinsically special about them. They don’t deserve to be worshiped. Nobody does. Enjoy the content, let its fun light atmosphere distract you from the nightmare that is life and use this lightness in your heart to help bear the burden of another day.
I'm so glad how disconnected I am from the fandom. I'm only in the Dream SMP because of the fanart (mainly the Sad-Ist animations) and the lore. But I'm like 3 months behind on the lore so I really can't look at the tag on any social media platforms nor support individual streamers right now nor I ever will.
I had no idea that happened to Toast. I was a follower of his videos when he first started blowing up in the Hearthstone subreddit for helping uncover and demonstrate the "rules" of the game, showing of completely insane card interactions you'd never expect to happen, stuff like that. Back when if he appeared in a video, he wore a giant paper mask shaped like his logo. I'm happy he's doing so well though. I hope he's enjoying his success.
you see the thing with hardcore myct stans is that they attach themselves to these minecraft boys and treat them like fictional characters they can mess with, for example, stans shipping real life people as if they are some sort of *fictonal* character. adding onto this, they really set their standards high for dream/faceless youtubers in fanart and treat them like some hot mysterious hunks etc
from someone who is in the minecraft community, this video was good, I liked it, you gave your honest opinion on mcyt and I respect that, i laughed at some bits, very well put together video :)
I'm glad the algo made me find your iceberg video. This is quality content, dude. Please keep at it, I'm excited to see where your channel goes in 2021 and beyond.
I have this guilty pleasure of loving minecraft content (I’m particularly addicted to hermitcraft). But i am 22. Witnessing the absolute insanity of children “stans” can take the joy out. And it makes it incredibly embarrassing to admit I like the content to normal people
Omg i know like if you say eveything about a minecraft youtuber people will just say STAN like bro i enjoy dream/tommyinit content does not mean im a stan i simply like the videos...
I used to be on the other side of the looking glass. I was pretty involved in fandoms and this kinda stuff a few years ago. It was genuinely miserable, and i wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.
Thank god, someone online with a sensible take on all this. Usually I just see these cynical assholes angrily ranting about a tiny subsection of minecraft fans but this guy is chill
My 6 year old really got into some of the minecraft and pvz gameplay channels and it drove me nuts. I'm old, so it reminded me of the kids who would stand around the cabinets at the arcade just watching us play and they never put a token up.
I didn’t even know quackity fell into this Minecraft Stan type community. I remember 5 years ago he was making Minecraft sucks or roblox sucks or undertale sucks video in an attempt to bait kids into hating him. And now he’s doing to opposite fascinating isn’t it
i am infinitely glad that i left the "smp" part of the fandom when i did. now i only watch a couple of the streamers every once and a while for their non-minecraft videos bc they're just so much better than the smp. and as someone who was in the community for a little while i can confirm that these people took it _way_ too far (especially the ones on tiktok)
as a “dream stan” who is also on twitter most of the time, most of the weird shippers that post EXTREMLY NSFW comments are like 12, 13. the reason why there is so much nsfw around the whole “dreamnotfound” (dream + georgenotfound ship) is because dream and george themselves have stated that they don’t feel uncomfortable with it. however many people go crazy with the facts that they don’t care for example the fanart or the fan fictions
i first came across your channel with your youtube iceberg video and i really enjoyed it! then i saw this video. i would consider myself a minecraft stan, and i have to agree with a lot of points in this video. my life had become so obsessed with them i lost sleep and started failing assignments at school and not doing my homework. i think it’s all about balance. i still enjoy them but don’t need to watch every stream and dedicate my life to them. it was helped me in some ways dealing with anxiety, and i made a lot of friends on twitter similar to me. but overall twitter is so toxic and the fetishization of dream and george is hella weird (this is coming from someone who used to ship them). i think they’re content is funny and cool and honestly i hope cringe culture dies because it does more harm than good. enjoyed this video even if i disagreed with some of the things in it :)
i used to be a huge dsmp stan and firsthand i'd like to say a few things. i think a lot of people in the dsmp fan community were going through a lot of difficult situations. of course the pandemic being one, but personally speaking i went through 3 big losses and an enormous shift in identity during the pandemic, so having these guys that play a fun game on livestreams on a regular basis, made things feel a little more normal. it's also really interesting you say that this type of community is usually something you cringe at. i used to relate to this and i would cringe at communities that were adjacent to ones i was active in without realizing the irony in that. however there's lots of people in the dsmp community that have adhd or autism and either struggle to find a community outside of the online space, or simply started to fixate to an extreme amount on these creators (i'm one of these people). it's difficult to recognize some things as cringe and lots of us prefer to not call things cringe as, it's ultimately people enjoying something. but it's nice to have another perspective on it. as a semi-regular enjoyer of these creators still i also appreciate you didn't just... take a massive shit on everyone involved lmao. sometimes it's deserved.
I am a fan myself of the minecraft community and these streamers and I think that the reason why these streamers and youtubers have so many fans/stans that follow them is that they mix the childhood nostalgia of playing and watching minecraft (including myself) with more mature language, nature, tone and overall content. Yes their videos and streams can appeal to the younger audience but also their main audience which are teenagers.
As someone who is part of the fandom I can say that the stans tend to sour the community quite a lot, it really is just kind of a drama dumpster fire, I tend to stay away from Twitter at all costs at this point,, the constant cancelling and drama creates a really not great environment,, I feel really bad for the younger kids in this fandom thinking this is how people should treat eachother,
i've spent my fair share of time on stan twt, and even though i had no interest in these streamers or even minecraft, i feel like my entire feed is always just them 😭 i guess it makes sense that a lot of people returned to a comfort childhood game and its fandom during quarantine but some of the stans definitely do take it too far, as do a lot of other stan twt communities like bts fans, etc. i guess it just crosses a line when people can't stop putting these people on a pedestal and allowing them to make mistakes/take criticisms (because from what i can see from the constant drama going on on twt some of them are like, genuinely problematic lol) ... and on a less serious note, i think writing fanfics or shipping those people together is just plain weird and kinda gross. but i think a lot of judgement towards this community probably just boils down to hating on the interests of teenage girls because no matter what we like, we get ridiculed for it lol
Same except I open up Twitter and follow a bunch of animators and marvel accounts and all of a sudden I’ve got Loki stans popping up on my feed talking about how they want to get railed by him. I hate twitter
don’t get me wrong man, i love my streamers and i do cosplay and all sorts of thing like make fanart. but like. dear god, stans are absolutely insane. they are so obsessive that it honestly scares me as someone who wants to be a successful content creator. like dear god, they are the entire reason i haven’t downloaded twitter. like i am legitimately scared of them because they can scream at you for ANYTHING. like they constantly shit on schlatt and it’s so dumb. he doesn’t care, and that’s why i like him so much. i dont always agree with him, but idgaf. he’s funny. i honestly feel bad for a lot of the creators involved with these stans, because like holy shit they look so hard to manage.
I actually hadn't thought about the shift from teenage girls fawning over celebrities and bands to online eboys. You've actually helped me understand a bit better why it's happening. Not that I like it much, and I'd have to agree that we're on the the start of the slope down the Minecraft being cringe again.
Finally someone understood, I got kicked out of my free-working longterm-planned editing carrier just because I told them that they were (the guy I was working for) and their friends are developing parasocial relationships, it was on another level. By that I mean it, that was all they were talking about and I told them that getting a therapist would be better for future, I didn't go harsh on them I was like 'Hey buddy I know you do like that but you are taking it way too far, you should see a therapist, there is nothing to be afraid of y'know, please do this for everybody'' and they got offended that it was normal and therapy was some kind of brain-controlling conspiracy bullshit. I didn't speak much after that but the guy I was talking to banned me from their discord server for saying that to his second crush. Yes they were polyamer but trust me there is more to that. They have done really disgusting things and that is the most 'peaceful' thing that came to my mind: being polyamer. I can still work for them but I sort of 'need help/advice' on whether I should say 'sorry' or try to be more careful or just say fuck it and forget about those crazy old 14 year olds. The thing is, when I edited my stuff I couldn't get it to be as good as the one I did with the guy I worked for. Because he gave me the raw footage with the commentary and I had to do stuff with it. That went out good-ish but when I try to just do stuff for myself even for fun it doesn't work out because I cannot show up my voice to make commentary. I still think I did the good thing though, it is better to be off than working with crazy people. 'People' as I might say/add.
this is why it’s important that creators, especially twitch streamers, to call out their own fans when they’re being weird/taking stuff too far. these guys just profit off these people and it’s gross. I’m a big fan of a twitch group, but that’s because they know where to draw the line with fan interaction and are willing to assert their comfort and community, even if it costs them someone’s sub.
i understand many of you will probably ignore this and call me crazy, but we genuinely arent all bad, as someone who is a mcyt "stan" i dont like to group myself with the bad part of the fandom. i am neurodivergent and cant control my hyperfixations, so i look like a "crazy obsessed stan" from afar. i appreciate the dedication and the story behind the dream smp, but i also enjoy hermitcraft and other youtubers too. i do like to watch the content and regularly watch/make fanart of it but i keep my social life well and my grades are all a's and b's. most of us in the community arent bad at all! many people who hate us tend to focus on the bad side of the community. personally i was a fan of schlatt, lunch club, quackity, issacwhy, etc before i found mcyt again. ever since i found this community though my mental health has gotten better and ive become to feel better about myself. the ccs are very nice and supportive and creators like ranboo have raised over thousands of dollars for charity! just, please reconsider and stop focusing on the negative and look at all the positives, i mean, every fandom has its terrible side.
The bad side of the fandom is really taking it because most of ppl go to Twitter as a source which is not good , twitter is already a toxic platform what did you expect ? Having a nice respectful fans there ?
YES!! For some reason, people tend to generalize all of us. It makes me feel embarrassed even calling myself a “dsmp fan”. Twitter is a very weird and toxic space. And if you want to learn more about the fandom, it’s a very bad source. I’m a kpop fan and the amount of hate I’ve gotten from it (it’s been mostly xenophobes) is just disgusting. When in reality, kpop and the dsmp has sorta made me healthy. Mentally. I just feel like we should stop acting immature and just really grow to understand that people like different stuff. Everyone has different opinions and hey! That’s great! And it is true, every fandom has a bad side. But they also have a good, supportive, and overall a mature side.
he went from being so funny and now all he does is Minecraft. remember when he made a song about how people need to stop sexualising online characters? now he's being sexualise and he isn't doing anything about it.
At first i thought people were being stupid for hating the community just because theres young girls, and we kinda know the misogyny teen girls get on the internet. But theres genuinely bad things going on there. People started to create this perfect image around their favourite ccs and everytime someone fuck up they trend their name to "deplatform" them. Maybe is just Twitter tho, who knows.
My favorite part about 5:29 is that they used a fujifilm link printer to make those meaning they spent nearly 5 dollars worth of film to print those out
The sad thing, quackity used to be a good youtuber with good humor. When he entered DreamSMP he just dug out his own grave. He also left his old gang, Aksel, Hoover alone - quackity is with the cool kids now.
i'm 21 and i really enjoy the dream smp and the videos of the ccs involved in it. i joined twitter last year bc i was like "!! yeah :D let's get some updates from them, why not!" but the replies to each ccs' tweets,, god,, at the end of the day, they're all minors between 12 and 18. when i was a teen i got obsessed with stuff like games and youtubers i never thought i will, and i cringe at the fact that i was like that. but yeah, as long as they're not hurting anybody... (which they sadly were at some point, because some of them are, well, troubled.) but yeah, as a casual fan that doesn't fit in on tw and that just appreciates the ccs, if this kids find comfort in making edits and making collages and stuff, u do u.
I appreciate that you weren't disrespectful, many people just look at the weird, toxic side of the fandom and then judge the whole fandom off that. Alot of the people in this fandom, including myself, watch them for fun, then go do other stuff. It's the group of younger children that make it cringe.
Mfw these stans litterally spend HOURS of EACH DAY watching some guy they will never meet play childrens games. If thats not a waste of time idk what is. Life is so short, go for a walk, work out, read a book, talk to an old friend. Any of those are better for your health than sitting in 1 place obsessing over some guy from across the planet.
This next generation will be very broken. Instead of forging real lasting bonds with people around them these kids nowdays subsitute human interaction with streamer boys. It’s not healthy spiritually or physically. Not to mention some give them money regularly. Its kinda sad.
At the age of the viewers of these streams you should be learning, making new experiences and trying to figure out what kind of job and life you want to have. Trying new things, meeting new people. Not watching a mildly attractive guy play minecraft...

I honestly enjoy the animations that people make of clips from Alex & his streams. I think it's cool to see they way people exaggerate his expressions in their own art styles. Obviously there will always be people in every fandom at all ever whom are ridiculous, overly obsessed, or at very least - a little strange. It's really unfortunate to see the loud minority ruin the overall image of a group or the subject of interest in the group, i.e. a content creator, or even a show or game, etc.

As someone who just thinks the smp members are funny and doesn't care about the deep lore, I think stan culture can ruin any community and shipping real life people seems kinda messed up to me.
Same takioka San. I love these youtuber and streamers but I don't watch EACH and every video. Stan's really ruin it but I can somehow understand because most of the stans are under stress and pressure so they rely on these youtubers to make them happy.
ayo, stay safe and have a great day.
@@Yoobster you too
I wouldn’t say that about the shipping.
I could start an SMP series tomorrow, and someone out there would be willing to saw their arm off for me for absolutely no reason.
True
Dew it and turn to the dark side Qui-Gon.
I know it sounds stupid because we're talking about kids watching youtubers play minecraft, but this shit happens and can be very damaging to these kids' mental states.
true af, don’t get obsessed with anything and don’t forget to get out sometime
bruh
I just realized that's why I feels like shit right now. I've been obsessed with youtube for so long and I don't feel like I have anything else to do.
The biggest mistake I've ever made in my life was downloading twitter, the 2nd biggest mistake in my life was following the minecraft topic on Twitter
this is literally the female equivalent of the vtuber simp community

I just wanna say I'm glad your comparison uses vtuber streamers, way too many vtuber simps thinks too highly of themselves just because they stan a 2d anime girl instead of an irl streamer lmao

Philza and Jschlatt seem to be able to deal with the kinda stan stuff pretty well. Personally love Jschlatt’s approach of “I’m a grown ass man it doesn’t help me to humour the angry children”
I don’t see the issue with Tommy or Tubbo, they’re just kids themselves with their own separate things (such as Tommy’s vlog channel which Tubbo helps)
Wilbur feels like he’s around the same scale of Philza. Knows how he and his friends should be treated so he never really feeds into that kind of culture. Started with music and Soothouse before the minecraft scene.
Never liked Dream and his approach to the obsession, but can’t help but feel bad for the dude when there are full investigations into his family and private life by teenagers just to find out what he looks like
as someone who could probably be called a "minecraft youtuber stan" like all communities, there are two sides to it. the side that just likes the content and likes to talk abt it and not be weird or creepy, and the side thats just really creepy or annoying. there are really nice people in this community i have met and theres always that good side of a fandom. this is really just a thing that happens with every community. and yeah a lot of the things that people post is just cringey or creepy lol.

it’s all just stan culture tbh. it’s the same thing with other youtuber stans and kpop stans. they never know when to draw the line between being a stan and being completely consumed and obsessed by said thing. it’s rooted in stan culture. yes, other people are going to think it’s weird or crazy that people stan mc youtubers but to me it’s just another stan culture thing. i used to be a kpop and a youtuber stan so i know where all of these people are coming from but now that i’ve stepped away i now see where people are coming from and i never understood that because i was never able to fully step away from this. it took such a long time bc i was always attaching myself to people and hyperfixating on people and things due to my adhd but now that i have more control over it i can separate myself and just casually watch youtubers or movies or shows and not be completely consumed or obsessed with it. it all just boils down to stan culture, it’s always been a thing and at this point it always will :/

I wish to give my insight into the appeal of these Streamers and YTers,
I think the main pull factors to these streamers is that their sense of humor is safe, not as in its dumbing people or unchallenging, but just that they don’t include heavy or controversial topics.
I hope he's enjoying his success.
you see the thing with hardcore myct stans is that they attach themselves to these minecraft boys and treat them like fictional characters they can mess with, for example, stans shipping real life people as if they are some sort of *fictonal* character. adding onto this, they really set their standards high for dream/faceless youtubers in fanart and treat them like some hot mysterious hunks etc

i first came across your channel with your youtube iceberg video and i really enjoyed it! then i saw this video. i would consider myself a minecraft stan, and i have to agree with a lot of points in this video. my life had become so obsessed with them i lost sleep and started failing assignments at school and not doing my homework. i think it’s all about balance. i still enjoy them but don’t need to watch every stream and dedicate my life to them. it was helped me in some ways dealing with anxiety, and i made a lot of friends on twitter similar to me. but overall twitter is so toxic and the fetishization of dream and george is hella weird (this is coming from someone who used to ship them). i think they’re content is funny and cool and honestly i hope cringe culture dies because it does more harm than good. enjoyed this video even if i disagreed with some of the things in it :)
i used to be a huge dsmp stan and firsthand i'd like to say a few things. i think a lot of people in the dsmp fan community were going through a lot of difficult situations. of course the pandemic being one, but personally speaking i went through 3 big losses and an enormous shift in identity during the pandemic, so having these guys that play a fun game on livestreams on a regular basis, made things feel a little more normal.
it's also really interesting you say that this type of community is usually something you cringe at. i used to relate to this and i would cringe at communities that were adjacent to ones i was active in without realizing the irony in that. however there's lots of people in the dsmp community that have adhd or autism and either struggle to find a community outside of the online space, or simply started to fixate to an extreme amount on these creators (i'm one of these people). it's difficult to recognize some things as cringe and lots of us prefer to not call things cringe as, it's ultimately people enjoying something. but it's nice to have another perspective on it. as a semi-regular enjoyer of these creators still i also appreciate you didn't just... take a massive shit on everyone involved lmao. sometimes it's deserved.

As a Quackity fan from his raiding days, it really saddens me that most of the community today known Quackity as a "Minecraft" UA-camr.
I am a fan myself of the minecraft community and these streamers and I think that the reason why these streamers and youtubers have so many fans/stans that follow them is that they mix the childhood nostalgia of playing and watching minecraft (including myself) with more mature language, nature, tone and overall content. Yes their videos and streams can appeal to the younger audience but also their main audience which are teenagers.

i've spent my fair share of time on stan twt, and even though i had no interest in these streamers or even minecraft, i feel like my entire feed is always just them 😭 i guess it makes sense that a lot of people returned to a comfort childhood game and its fandom during quarantine but some of the stans definitely do take it too far, as do a lot of other stan twt communities like bts fans, etc. i guess it just crosses a line when people can't stop putting these people on a pedestal and allowing them to make mistakes/take criticisms (because from what i can see from the constant drama going on on twt some of them are like, genuinely problematic lol) ... and on a less serious note, i think writing fanfics or shipping those people together is just plain weird and kinda gross. but i think a lot of judgement towards this community probably just boils down to hating on the interests of teenage girls because no matter what we like, we get ridiculed for it lol

I’m a big fan of a twitch group, but that’s because they know where to draw the line with fan interaction and are willing to assert their comfort and community, even if it costs them someone’s sub.
every time i hear something about these crazy fandoms or stan communities i thank the universe that my fandoms aren't like this

i understand many of you will probably ignore this and call me crazy, but we genuinely arent all bad, as someone who is a mcyt "stan" i dont like to group myself with the bad part of the fandom. i am neurodivergent and cant control my hyperfixations, so i look like a "crazy obsessed stan" from afar. i appreciate the dedication and the story behind the dream smp, but i also enjoy hermitcraft and other youtubers too. i do like to watch the content and regularly watch/make fanart of it but i keep my social life well and my grades are all a's and b's. most of us in the community arent bad at all! many people who hate us tend to focus on the bad side of the community. personally i was a fan of schlatt, lunch club, quackity, issacwhy, etc before i found mcyt again. ever since i found this community though my mental health has gotten better and ive become to feel better about myself. the ccs are very nice and supportive and creators like ranboo have raised over thousands of dollars for charity! just, please reconsider and stop focusing on the negative and look at all the positives, i mean, every fandom has its terrible side.

I love that resource pack/mod you have in the game 😂😂😂
