I just took a lesson today and the dude said I was turning my hips way way to soon. Literally made the world of difference in my swing. Just keeping my hips in place and letting the golf club turn me. I gained 10 yards on my clubs and hit it way way more consistently
Your portion the grip is spot on! Mind blown!!! I changed my thumb position and have so much control of the club. its crazy how a position of a finger can cause a ton of issues. Thank you!!!
Great way of thinking about it. I’ll try it tomorrow at the range. Thanks and keep doing what you do. It does help a lot of us out here in the high handicap world.
Lol. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. I really enjoy your videos. I just think the video titles are funny with the random percentages. I’m sure there is a click/algorithmic advantage though. Cheers Alex!
@@johnnydripps6590 did you know that approximately 92.53% of all statistics are made up on the spot? (Just joking😊) I do agree with you though. Some UA-camrs could do better. I’m not saying Alex does this. My experience on the channel has been nothing but positive. Not so on other golf tutors.
I agree - spurious statistics and click bait are so annoying (“91% of golfers would love this club!” ….. just tell us what the blo*dy club is!) 🤬 But I love Alex’s videos and tips! 😂
Thanx Alex for spotlighting my issue with releasing too early (not the normal wide swing casting) while trying to keep lag for compression. I will try your exercises as the winter allows here in Baltimore.
This is a great video, Alex! By the way, I usually struggle with aiming, generally going left where I suppose I'm aiming to, or directly pushing straight to the right; but when I'm trying to counteract that, I end up shanking the ball miserably and constantly, entering in a yip circle... Some guidance to start aiming consistently will be highly appreciated!
Excellent drill - iàm still working on this drill - easy to see it and understand the concept - just not easy to perform consistently. Tough game indeed.
Hey, love what you are teaching. I feel like i have improved based on your videos. Maybe this isn't possible, but i love your player camera. To date from what i have seen you show much of the results but none of the presonal camera. I think for some of us that may be of use, one it gives the player perspective. For example, how cocked is your lead foot? in some videos you are more dominant with that lead foot than others, i watched the ben hogan video and have purcahsed the book to learn more of the mechanics. But a shot of a good hit from the players camera could help many people to find their flaws. Like you said in previous videos ask some one to take a picture or video of your swing. That is brilliant for changing some things but for others such as simple setups you can't take away as much information without the personal perspecitve as it is hard to setup a good shot. Again many thanks for the improvements based on your lessons! hope to hear from you. Will
I even caught the spelling mistake. Rotten camera work show the divot although we get the point. Your choke down on the grip is still the best tip of the year. That moves you up into the top 30 golf instructors.
Thumb a bit to the right is straight out of Harvey Penick's Little Red Book!! I've read that book enough times to know Tom Kite and Ben Cranshaw swear by this small adjustment for stability!!
Hi Paul's the name this may work for you but truly it is simple , I am no pro but this tip helped a 78 year old YOU TAKE A TEE OR COIN PLACE IT DOWN BEHIND THE BALL , LOOK AT IT PICTURE IT IN YOUR MIND , NOW REMOVE IT , AND HIT THAT SPOT WHERE MARKER TEE OR WHATEVER YOU USED . IT WORKED FOR ME AND THIS 78 YEAR OLD IN 4 MONTHS HAS COME DOWN FROM 39.8 TO 21.1 HANDICAP , and 2 other players lower their handicaps, and this is only playing 9 holes.
Dad taught me to do this: Buy a small bottle (2-4 oz.)with a very small opening on a detachable nozzle that has a cap. (Think ketchup bottle in a restaurant, but smaller.) Amazon for about $5 bucks. Fill it with baby powder, corn starch, baking soda, or any really fine white powder (not that one, silly!) and use that to "draw" a line behind your golf balls. Strike away and "read" your strikes. Store the bottle in your bag.
I think some of us just weren't meant to be golfers. I've watched literally HUNDREDS of videos explaining the mechanics of the proper iron strike, and I still cannot do it consistently. Lag, shaft lean, weight shift/no weight shift, low point etc etc.. There's even one guy out there saying "I don't want you to hit anything, I just want the ball to be in the way of your swing!"...lol. It's like explaining to somebody how to dunk a basketball. I know exactly how its done, but I am physically unable to do that either...lol.
At first, for right handers, when you grip that club with butt end under the pad, it feels super weird. I promise, just like AE, that if you keep at it, you'll notice how much more simplistic it is to visualize everything going on. Not only that, it will become comfortable almost instantly after this realization. You'll never go back to gripping it poorly.
I really struggle to keep the grip in my fingers. Even when I carefully set the grip, it slips in the course of my swing, ending up more in the palm, evidenced by the hole I wear in my glove. I have good grips, nearly new, and decent quality gloves. What's happening?
Not enough info, (feedback). I have the grip/ concept and still flip, hit very high ball. I still get okay distance when not fat (160y/7) but very high .It would be great if only sooo simple, ha, it's not.
Left thumb on the right hand side! I was moving my entire hand to move my thumb and was ending up with an extremely closed club face. UGH! I feel like an idiot.
I don’t everything except hit a good shot with my irons. Some nights I’ll show up and for a few holes I’m sending them off with the most beautiful flight path…. Then a hole later I’ll started tipping and farting it, and this will go on for weeks or more. I can bomb my 5 wood laser straight @ 210 yards. I just don’t get it man.
*Let me know how your golf was the weekend! I would love to here 👇🏼👇🏼*
Fantastic information to be fair I do struggle with my 5 iron. Thanks
Alex
Doing strength exercises for the left scapular injury and practicing putting and short pitch/chip shots

Just started watching your videos. I think they are done well and very helpful.
Excellent video! I actually prefer hitting my low irons, such as 2 and 1 iron for distance. I struggle with my woods.
The ridiculous reason 93% of all Golf UA-camrs title their videos with random percentages! 😱😱😱
Sorry you feel that way

insaleny helpful. THANK YOU!
Nice work. Just back into golf after years away so this will help a lot hopefully.
Thank you Ted!
More great drills and content Alex . Keep up the good work . Love the channel ⛳
Glad you like them!

Aim with ur feet
Look up GASP , your feet position will determine direction
Great visual!!! Playing Bridgestone B XS. Performed best on simulator. Thanks for your great videos!
Love that Gary! Great ball! I hope they help

Well done alex 🏌♂️ 🙂 👍
Thank you Roy! Happy Sunday!
Great video yes this angle is likely your biggest problem
If your left hand thumb is slightly to the right of the grip then where should your right hand be placed?
Alex how do I put a little bit of back spin when pitching on to green to hold it up .cheers Paul
...and where can one find a grass range in the UK to do this on to practice?
Many thanks for this amazing tip ❤ it works a trey🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
ENTERED Great tips
Thanks so much
I hate winter golf. But I will never stop playing.
Great video Alex super informative I am going to use that draw a line tip 👍👍
Glad it was helpful!

Great video again. Alex. Are you using mid size grips?👍
yeah i am ! thanks
@@AlexElliottGolf yeah I thought so. I'm getting mine changed next week to mid size. Keep up the great work. 👍⛳

What a deflating comment, have you ever heard of the saying if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say it?
I live in Victoria BC Canads. We can only practice off mats. How can I do this practice off a mat ?
the only thing i wanna know is where did you get the 93percent figure from? tell me where?
Thumb a bit to the right is straight out of Harvey Penick's Little Red Book!! I've read that book enough times to know Tom Kite and Ben Cranshaw swear by this small adjustment for stability!!
So should I put my right thumb on the left side?
Alex really like the Puma Vest, how about hooking me up😂
Please come 2 Perth WA and have a game if me ⛳⛳⛳ Les👍👍👍
I wish I could!!!!
Mr clickbait is back at it

Do a vid on hitting irons on the soggy winter fairways. Struggle is real.
Yes this is a great idea Tron!
Im in Washington state, I live that life.
@@miguelquintana8076 same haha. Best advise so far is to choke up a little.
Great tips with the grip. I always find that’s the core of the slide back to miss hits.
Please show the head of the club when lining up your hand on the grip..... thanks !!
Sure ...but setup position and contact position are different
What about shaft flex at 70 mph..73 years old..like vetoes..help me alot..

Why is your left foot so open when lining up your stance ??
This helps me get through the ball. Try this ua-cam.com/video/JDYIxazygoA/v-deo.html
Toughest iron for me is the electric...😉

Try bigger grips or more tape under the grip. If my grips aren't thick enough I have the same tendency.
Yeah i agree this also
U could try wearing 2 gloves on one hand. It can work and much cheaper than getting every club re-gripped.
Tough irons for me is the 3-2irons
I can’t play winter golf, I’m in 🇨🇦🥶
I use a line of sand behind the ball
video picture goes black at c.3:00

Your thumbnail photo was not mentioned in any way in the video itself. WTF????
We call tht flippin the club, in the US. I like to see a stinger draw done..more like shaping the shots.
Yes, I struggle more with my 7-iron than the shorter irons 🙄
I think this will help for sure
No shit
Left thumb on the right hand side! I was moving my entire hand to move my thumb and was ending up with an extremely closed club face. UGH! I feel like an idiot.
93% based on what?
I can hit my irons great. I can't hit my driver to save my life. I can out drive my father inlaw using a 1 iron.
93.26% is the accurate number if we include golfers in israel & antartica

Offset club head. Think about it!
Anyone can make up a statistic, 93% of people know that.
