Soul food is very subjective. The way it’s cooked depends one where your Southern roots are from. My mother was from Arkansas and my dad was from Texas. My dad’s fried chicken was so good, but he couldn’t cook greens as good as my mother. We had every type of greens except collards. They weren’t a staple green for either parent. My mother cooked hot water cornbread, my dad did the oven kind. The best soul food I had outside of my parents’ house was a restaurant on Central a couple of blocks north of Slauson. Can’t remember the name, but the food was delicious!

Most people in California that eat soul food make it at home... because we are from the South, at least our roots. We would never. Furthermore, good soul food is in the hood...most are not venturing there. I live in the "hood" but nothing like what's depicted on TV. I grew up with a garden in the backyard. Most southerners maintained their ways and taught their children.

I'm going to give it a try. Well done soul food is better than just about anything. That said, my go-to spot in LA is The Family, on Gage and Figueroa. Everything they do is pretty much spot-on. Even before I ever ate there, their bonafides were assured when my friend told me that this was the only place in LA where Black folks came to get chitterlings (if you don't get it, ask somebody), which I actually saw happen. The menu is VERY reasonable, and you get a lot of bang for your buck.

ALWAYS. I’m from the South but live and work out West now. Soul food and island food are both ridiculously priced here (for MID food) but, in the South, you get SOLID food and large amounts of it, sold with so much LOVE. ❤💯‼️

Wow! Congrats on the growth of your channel. It seems like you were at around 20k subscribers when "David from Davids's been here" had you on as the expert guest on a "Dim Sum" video he did when I first saw you and now you have 4 to 5 times as many subscribers in less than a year (or so it seems). I could be off on the length of time it has been but I don't think by a lot.

No they don't. The heating lamps that that slop is served from helps bring out ALL of the grease, dries out the meat and notorious for giving healthy eaters the runs. I won't even go into the horrible customer service of that over expensive bile. Dulan's is a NO for me!

yum! also, my hubby got me a mic, kind of like yours, for my youtube videos, but it has an odd delay on it, but for yours, im surprised that it picks up so much background conversation. i wonder if your mic has an adjustment to cut all that background out? did your mic have a delay when you got it, and if so, how did you fix that?
