    FANTASTIC!
I just realized today that I have to many climbing plants for my raised garden beds. I was going to use chicken wire fencing to trellis everything up, but I am using a cane and don't have the strength to do it.
Now this I can do, so grateful to you sweet child, you made my day and now I can continue to finish my garden.
At my age, 73 years, I'm able to grow all the climbing vegetables for the senior citizens in my neighborhood. I fond it so much fun and great exercise, but who has the money for these outrageous prices. I'm always looking for ways to keep the cost down. Thank God I saw this video. Please show us more.

I’ve seen some trellis builds and while they look stunning and gorgeous, I’m still a bit intimidated to give them a try 😅 one day, I’ll give it a shot but until then, I like these types of trellises that doesn’t require a whole lot of tools or supplies and can be set up in no time!

An idea is to layer two ladders, offsetting the cross bar, so then you don't have to add the X's in the each empty space.

Mine, after excitedly watching this video, is thus: I wired 2 together side by side. I then wired a third, with the doubled long side of the previous pair running down the middle. This 3rd one is also offset so thT the crossbar is centered between the cross bars of the others. (I used zipties.) In the open space to the right of the center ladder, I ran a braided polyester cord zigzag from one right angle to the next, and mirrored it in the space on the left side of the structure. I had to dig a little to put the middle section's longer side in the ground. With zip ties I attached the center double vertical to rebar instead of wooden posts. It looks good! I hope the Armenian cucumbers like it as much as I do! *Thank you* for getting me started!

I've been using the ladder mesh for years. Instead of using wires I use zip ties, which are cheap and much faster. I also go around and collect old political sign wire (called H brackets at Home Depot) and zip tie them together. Recycling!

I get tired of the $100+ DIY's with everything perfectly measured and put together with power tools. They wear me out! You made a real video with inexpensive supplies and made it feel like ANYONE could do it. No matter your skill level, age, or amt of money. Great job. Gardening is expensive enough w/o having to buy barriers and trellis's for hundreds more dollars. Thank you for keeping it real.🤗 You are cute and funny. Quick thought... instead of cutting the wire so much to make the Xs, just start at one end, attach it, go across diagonally to the next corner, wrap once or twice, cross diagonally to the next corner, wrap once or twice and so on until you hit the end. Then start the next wire on the opposite side where you ended, do the same thing (only hitting the corners opposite from where you've already wired) but stop in the center to wrap once before continuing on.
It's possible you'll run out of wire before hitting the end, but, technically, you should use less wire (I'm tired so I could be wrong on this one, it'll either be less or the same) and you DEFINITELY will cut the wire fewer times.
Not sure I can get this stuff in Canada but I'll definitely check into it because your idea is awesome!

Delightful video. I got into straw-bale gardening last year because my space is very limited. Was accidentally & ridiculously very successful. Used cattle panel in an arch shape to grow beans & cukes and it was so spectacular that I had people asking to get married under it! However, this the ladder mesh approach is cheaper & easier and will fit some smaller spaces I’m now going to be able to fill and fit with trellis! Brilliant idea. Thanks so much for sharing this.

    Great Job!
You actually don’t need the wire for theX’s…. It can be done with kitchen string and quickly tied the whole length on one side before coming back in the other direction to cross as an X, as I found that many climbing plants like Morninglory and clematis, etc. need a VERY tiny, thin line to grab onto ….and at the end of the season it’s easy to just cut out the string in the middle of your ‘fence’and grab off all the dead plant material in one bunch…works for me! The string is covered in no time and not visible during the growing season, and I found it keeps My Archway clear of plant debris and ready for the following year by just cutting off a couple of yards of skinny white string from the dollar store at the end of the season…. Plus I find it easier to make it really tight. Whereas twisting wire is hard on my hands…cheap too.
Can’t wait to see your backyard in full season ! Good ideas!

Thank you so much for making this video! I have been feeling teaching myself how to do things in the garden but I really can’t spend so much money. I appreciate all of these resources because not only do you get a very functional result, you ALSO get a super good looking one too! I can’t say thank you enough 🙏

I absolutely love your video! I know exactly how you felt about the trellises not being the same size, I would have done the exact same thing and been fussing the entire time 😅 Thank you for making this video. 🌱💚

Your video just came up in my feed and I thoroughly enjoyed it! You are fun and I like that you kept saying make it the way you want. The garden is your oyster! And that you got it all tidied up and turned around and made a mess of it the next day. Boy, that is my everyday life! I often wonder to myself, you work so hard and it only looks good for half a day! I think that's just the way it is.

I just came across this video and I’m 100% going to try this!!! I grew morning glories from seed and they are almost to the point of taking over one corner of my greenhouse so I have to get them in the ground tomorrow and I had no idea what to use for trellises so this is going to be it. I’m so excited 😆

Awesome video!! And I absolutely love, love, love that you wanted to make them all match so there’d be symmetry! I totally get that and I would do the same thing. I’m getting ready to put up some of the elevated garden beds from Costco so I’m saving your video. Thanks so much! xo
