Texas property taxes are nothing to scoff at. You better hope your employer gives you a 10%+ yearly raise if you’re keeping your home for the long term. Unpredictable yearly property taxes make retirement damn near impossible for the average person sadly

The slower SA grows the better. Only city in Texas not yet overrun.

Interesting that downtown has so many businesses leaving; it's charming down there in an old skool kinda way with all the preserved old architecture and the RiverWalk and San Pedro Creek. It's got good bones to become a really cool, vibrant downtown. They've gotta stop with the endless construction, though-or at least finish it. And that hospital closing isn't a bad thing-if it has mismanaged its resources, it needs to close. I work in Healthcare recruiting and I bet dollars to donuts (mmmm, donuts) that most of those employees will have a job offer before they shut the doors....healthcare is really hurting for employees everywhere. I think San Antonio will plod along and grow at a steady pace; now that we are teetering on a recession I don't think we will see breakneak growth in this area despite the affordability-it doesn't have the big tech or oil or finance money like Dallas, Houston, and Austin.

It’s a cycle highs and lows. Houston and Dallas are experiencing the same thing in their job markets and housing

Southside housing prices will likely increase further as A&M San Antonio continues to develop. They have plenty of land and money, and will likely outgrow UTSA.

Blue city in a red state, of course! Thats why we didnt get a chick fila in the air port, it would have killed and made the city lots of money in the long run.

I left San Antonio in 2021 due to military, but my plan was to save up money until retirement then move back. I’ve been to many cities but San Antonio felt the most like home .🤔

The hole USA is going to tank. Everyone who doesn't see the writing on the wall is going to suffer greatly(start with *inflation* alone). If people think that Austin is a great place, then they are NOT from TEXAS. Houses in SA, Bexar County are still affordable(🙄🤔🤨) compared to other counties. I'm in Williamson County the lowest price for a home here is $410 starting; stupidly they keep building(yet there are those who have lost their home) and have negotiated a Bond to add more schools & homes. Although there is now *questions* to the "bond"; you have to ask yourself, _"Where is the money going?"_Then again in certain parts there are NO Big Businesses (Target, Walmart, HEB{these companies generate Millions upon Millions) here, they seem to think that TECH is helpful and tax people out the wazoo. Yes, out in Travis County(Austin/Del Valle area) a *Tesla Factory* is being built. Out in Taylor, TX is a future *SAMSUNG Factory* is going up as we speak. Hence all the housing prices . .Our reality out here is what will happen when Too Much is going on (power & water "go out") . .Not enough supply is here {Think about it, yet they want *OVER* 400K for a house?]
I am a former San Antonian, I have worked downtown, in a specific school district, and even a major theme park growing up there in SA. I have seen ALL the changes and heard about them before the time came. You would have to dig deeper to find out the "W's". Keep in mind that this is happening everywhere except "tiny towns".
