Seeing him break, lagertha leaving him, his daughter's death, brother's betrayl the first time, losing the settlement in wessex, losing athelstan, and his brother's second betrayl, all of this... it could drive someone mad, mad enough to commit suicide and yet, he still kept living with his broken heart away from his duty and his family. Then finally, to his death he went. I cant get over how broken amd shattered ragnar was. When lagertha left it was the start of his collapse.
If Jordan Patrick Smith (actor who played adult Ubbe) was a little older he would have done a great job. He had some serious Ragnar energy near the end of the series.
@@Das_Beachy ayoo you're right I thought I was the only one who noticed... and out of all ragnars son ubbe emulates him the most I'm starting to think Bjorn really isn't ragnars son
I can see myself watching the “Ragnar death speech” 10yrs from now and still think it’s as good as it gets for any for any scene regardless of movie, television, and television series!
Am i the only one who thinks this wasnt a good speech? i mean everything he said had no meaning, he lied everything. why do you love this speech so much?
I absolutely love how Ragnar tells Athelstan (his grave) that he didn't understand what a "martyr" was, but ends up having his death serve the purpose of a martyr. Perhaps, in the end, he understood & intended on going out on the same note as his friend; Ragnar always had a plan/agenda. His death served as the fuel for the Great Heathen army, and the death of two kings (King Aelle & King Ecbert). The fury of a patient man. Great writing & great acting at it's finest.
the Norse populations were full of excellent poets and storytellers, fortunately their stories and poems have been brought together, many of which thanks to Snorri Sturluson, had a much more complex of what one believes to see the world and their gods, divided by many names, as if they were different entities and yet only fragments of the same personality, this process occurred for each Aesir or Vanir.
They’re one of if not the most popular culture for warrior poetry and also they’re gods and creatures have stories great enough to rival the Greeks While yes Vikings were barbaric and pagans they were very crafty and some of their culture still influences modern society. One example is the days of the week Wednesday was wodinsday wodin being another term for Odin. Thursday is Thors day and Friday is named after frigg
Wow that Gyda speech is underrated and I completely forgot about it. RIP Gyda imagine her being alive with Bjorn only to grow into a badass shield maiden like her mother ...they would have been powerful
“We will never meet again my friend.” 🥺🥺🥺 I’d also like to publicly admit that I balled my eyes out the first time I watched Ragnars baptism scene. The bond between Ragnar and Aethlestan will forever be one of my favorite on screen friendships
you missed the speech when rollo betrayed ragnar...it was so good to me "when everyone wanted you dead ... i kept you alive ... and this is how you repay my love" 💔💔
Ragnar has been a favourite of mine since I read the sagas when I was 12. But this man breathed life into my hero the fact the he didn't win awards for his part is a crime.
If u got a daughter you Will feel the same am frome denmark and I know alot of My Ancestors our daughters is proteckted and cared for a little more then Boyes 👍👍💪💪💪
The Gyda death speech always gets me. For a man in that culture it's always about having sons to carry on his legacy. Ragnar had 5 sons, but the death of his oldest child, his only daughter Gyda is the one that effected him the most.. part of Ragnar died the day his daughter died. He would never be the same after that point in time.
You all don’t talk about how Regnar did not attend to enjoy with other in parties rather stayed behind the curtains watching. That made him aware of what always happened, were to come and the betrayals.
What’s interesting is that Ragnar always sees and talks to the dead, but Floki hears only silence, then when we meet him at the end of the world Floki says Ragnar talks to him constantly. The ends of the worlds, maybe they meet in the middle.
I’ve never had a doctor but I have two twin sons I never even met them they’re probably 17 years old right now and I’m angry every every day angry every every day I’m so angry I can’t even read what the fuck I wrote
He is one of the few actors who can make you forget they are playing a part. He is ragnar! And his very best scenes are his alone. His facial and boddy language are amazing!
I’m partial to Ragnar’s final speech, truly an amazing scene. No sound except the wind, his voice and the rattling of the chains that confine him. I welcome the Valkyrie’s to summon me Home!!
When King Ecbert stood smiling in honor at his friend, Ragnar, I felt that. There was at least one person who loved him with him at the end. And he went out like a badass. Travis as Ragnar has never disappointed me. The producers would be hard pressed to find an actor who could even remotely hold a candle to this performance. Skol!
This movie made me to be lost in vikings world, I love to fight,I say whatever I want no matter who is in the front, I question deep , even my accent has changed to viking's accent. It took my soul and it has been several years and still...
There's no way that this is acting. He've always been my favourite actor. He is one of the kindest and nicest actors. He didn't even study, acting wonderful and talented person.
Great video, seen a few comments about speeches you could have included, a favourite of mine is Ragnars speech with king Horik and jarl borg after the battle in season 2 episode 1. “ why must we fight each other, for this piece and that piece of land’
What an actor. I have watched the series through firma 4th time just now. The only scene that comes close to ragbars scenes is bjorns death. On his horse.... amazing series
Travis nailed the Gyda scene. Watching the whole show after makes you understand how powerful this scene was, Ragnar was always pushing his sons to become stronger, but Gyda was his flower, he never intended on making her anything, except what she would have wanted to be, she was his princess, and the words he used in that specific speech did touch my heart and it made me realise how bad it is to lose a child, especially a little girl
Me encantó tanto el personaje del Rey Ragnar que me costó mucho ver la escena de su muerte. Llore, tuve que venir a UA-cam a buscar a Travis F. para reconfortarme. Magnífica actuación de Travis!
I agree with all these speechs ^^ And....Gyda and Athelstan was both Ragnar's light in his life.......They were purety , innocence , beauty and love in this brutal world .
Gyda always hurt because it was his only daughter and wasn’t there for her death. She was perfect to him because she never gave him a headache and would’ve been a voice of reason
Forever King Ragnar🙌🙌🙌 Absolutely nobody👎🏽rules better dan him🔥🔥 And my Respect goes to Lagatha💕💕 A woman strong in battle... my lagathar the iron inside🔥🔥😩 I will always keep the Vikings memories in my head🥰🙌🙌
I can't stop seeing his death speech anytime. The way he predicted his sons revenge and what will become of the kingdom of wessex.. He was surely paving the way for the great heathen army
I teared up when he talked about how in death you reunite with loved ones. However; he believes that God will not allow him to visit Athelstan in heaven. Thus, he will never see Athelstan again.
5 ways to become king. 1) do everything not to be a king 2) let other people's actions work for you 3) show weakness when you are strong and strong when you are vulnerable 4) never forget where you came from 5) a god can't be afraid of other Gods
Vikings and peaky blinders are the best shows ever..."we will never meet again my friend" "i hate you for leaving me!" "I always believed that death is a fate far better than life, for you will be reunited with lost loved ones. But we will never meet again my friend. I have a feeling that your God might object to me visiting you in Heaven. What am I to do now?" "King ragnar...that is my name...KING RAGNAR!" Travis Fimmel was the perfect Ragnar, i dont think anyone else could have captured his emotions and personalities this well
The crazy part is when he auditioned for Vikings apparently he wanted to be Floki but it was taken so they gave him a shot at Ragnar

@Josh Beauchamp I thought the same as far as his demeanor. He’s too thin & boyish though, Travis looks like a man.
As Ragnar, Travis didn't the 1st role but got it anyway
I loved the “who wants to be king” speech. I was surprised that wasn’t included
That has to be my favorite speech he makes in the series
There are a few that could of been in here, my fav is the god speech with the blind man
@@lightofthesevenstars ahh a part 2! Thank you!
Its not really a speech but more like an epic scene
My favorite too
The Gyda scene is so rough for some reason.
"I'll gently stroke your long and beautiful hair once again... With my peasant hands."
Wish they would’ve kept her alive for a bit longer so the speech would have a bigger impact
Yeah it would’ve had a bigger impact if she lived long enough to get killed by Jarl Borg when he invaded Kattegat in Season 2
