I have given my best for this video and it was hard to edit this one but the story of Ragnar is worth it. He is my favorite character from Vikings. From a farmer to king to one of the most famous Viking in the world, he was truly a great man.

The pain and betrayal he went through was enough to drive any man insane.
And he still managed to be the greatest Viking
In reality it's the drugs he took that truly destroyed the man.
Even though it can look like it's the betrayal from Ecbert, the one from Rollo plus Floki killing Aethelstan,
that could have led him down this path.
In my opinion, his mind and body was too weak at the time when invading Paris a 2nd time
because of the drugs he took for awhile plus his addiction he couldn't get over with while going to war.
Plus he knew he couldn't trust his brother and how he always was and he did trust him again on something
too important to take any chances like he did.
So that was pretty naive on his part and a bit cliche if you ask me.
He was supposed to be alot more wiser than this and in a way you could say that his naivety and
bad analytical thinking because probably of the drugs made him lose it and feel too much shame to want to rule anymore.
Considering himself not worthy of his title and the respect from his people that he might lose forever for those mistakes.
So he secluded himself for a few years then came back with a plan to use his sons to get his revenge on Ecbert
by motivating the vikings and his sons to rally and mass against the english kings
by sacrificing himself to have his heroes death(or as one might say ... a martyr's death). (hahaha how Ironic)
It actually didn't made any sense since he knew for a long time about Ecbert's betrayal and he didn't do
anything and didn't cared that much as he should have at the time it happened or after when he could have done something because he had the power to do so at that time.
It's revenge on Rollo that should have been his primary focus after being massacred in the 2nd raid against Paris.
It's a shame really even though i too consider him a legend.
But hey in the end the focus of the series was to show how the vikings were able to gain a foothold on some of Britannia's territories for a bit more than a century long of conquest and reconquest until the Viking age ended.
Because before Ragnar's times which they purposely ignored and made it look like Ragnar's idea to raid west
was his idea and the 1st viking to do so which isn't true at all, since raid from vikings in england's territory started
in the years around his birth. Supposedly 4 years after his birth, exactly. If the man ever existed haha.
I could keep at it and explain from my point of view why producers and writers like to focus on 1 great character only but

How can you say ragnar is afraid of death when he did defy what the seer told him; he hung himself trying to suicide and went to wessex for his suicide journey. It is because he wanted to test, he wants to prove that he guides his own faith.
Eventually in the series he lost faith in all gods. It is clear that Athelstan, Ragnar and Ecbert symbolizes mankind. Athelstan is the one who believes that Gods are real. Ragnar is the one who does not believe about the Gods and hates them for their words makes people change their own path. Ecbert who does not believe in Gods but believes that the existence of Gods is significant for own's moral compass.

I cried when his son left him, and stopped watch the show when ragnar died.

He is played so good by the actor. To see what became of Ragnar's sons i s so amazingly cool. Try to watch again, I promise it's worth it. Oh, King Alfred and his battlefield speech, omg! Him and his brother. Bro the show still has soooo many great moments

As others have said Travis can draw you in with his charisma and good acting...you just cant help but like him. Combine that with a really good show, and you have nothing short of a masterpiece. Really good edit too, you captured the essence of ragnars story.
