  • I just wanted to make sure that I said STRAIGHT not STREET.
I was showing to develop how to deal with straight punch and hook in my class.
We practice not to block or stop punches but go with them.
We practice different ways slowly to build our Toitsutai.

I notice how your arms are soft and rounded, even when doing Irimi-Nage and Kote-Gaeshi, which most people imagine with straight lines. I need to look into this further.

Mcdojo says you're a fake. Invite him to make him a believer. Time has come.

why? if someone who's never actually been in the room with a teacher claims to be sure they're "a fake," let them. they don't care enough to find out whether the teacher is actually doing anything. so maybe they're right, and the teacher is a fake. or maybe they're wrong. either way, who cares what uninformed people say?
if you get a chance to be in the room with this teacher, take it. and stop worrying about what McDojo says.

@@outsidethegarden Who is uninformed needs to be proven. Someone claiming you are fake and you claiming you're not needs to be proven to the ignorant, not to the knowledgeable.
Any person with dignity, wants to keep it by presenting the truth through experiment. Anything else is words wasting time.

@@7outofthebox747 my point exactly. you and me and McDojo trading our opinions on whether this teacher has anything to offer is just chatter. I'm not going to persuade you by lavishing praise on the teacher, and you and McDojo aren't going to convince me by claiming he can't do anything worth paying attention to. OR by "inviting him to make McDojo a believer." you may persuade random viewers, who aren't interested in actually learning about what's possible or questioning their assumptions. I'm not worried about them: it's always easier to scoff and dismiss than to go to the trouble to learn. or to question your assumptions.
because I agree with you, the proof is in the experience. if someone wants to know whether this teacher can do what he claims, work with him and decide -- don't waste time talking to me. you already know I'm a believer, so either I'm a fool or I'm a liar. or possibly I've been convinced -- but that doesn't mean you'll be convinced. make up your own mind, don't expect me to make it up for you.
so if you, or McDojo, want to claim this teacher can't do what he claims, well you can certainly criticize his abilities, without any actual experience or knowledge or evidence. go ahead. just don't expect me to be convinced, or impressed.
as you say, "Any person with dignity, wants to keep it by presenting the truth through experiment. Anything else is words wasted."

@@outsidethegarden Look you're playing games. He should invite the guy to.prove his stuff. After that we will know how fake or not fake he is. No need to rant on this for nothing.

@@7outofthebox747 look, you're playing games. you're ranting. I don't know who the "he" is who should invite "the guy" to prove his stuff, but if you want to see for yourself, stop ranting on You Tube and find some way to train with Yoshi sensei.
or don't, and continue to insist that he's a fake. it doesn't make any difference to me. so why do my comments make a difference to you? let alone to McDojo?
because no matter what you do or what I do, no one else will be convinced of anything they didn't already believe. just like you haven't changed your opinion at all in response to what I've said.
      you're welcome!

Forgive me for stating the obvious, but thats not a punch therefore its a complete waste of time. Yes its a practice scenario but there is no way with a real punch you can catch that angle. This is the problem with the delusional aikido techniques, which there are many and why after years of practising the art, Ive all but quit. I wish there were more people out there cutting through any bullshit to show martial techniques rather than any arty farty nonsense that looks impressive but has zero practical value.

    • @outsidethegarden
      @outsidethegarden 2 роки тому

and with a different angle, the teacher would modify his/her technique.
still might not convince you. but I'm sorry you've all but quit aikido. there are valuable things to get from aikido, even if it's "arty farty nonsense," but there are also practitioners who have something incredibly valuable to show us. and from training with this teacher, I believe he is someone who can do what he's showing here in slow motion and -- as you point out -- with an unrealistically slow and straightforward attack, even with faster and less telegraphed attacks.
would you be convinced, if you could train with him? I don't know. I hope you get a chance some day.
