I have a never been so impressed by a sponsor promotion
My favorite was their Keeps spot. Rex found a genie and she said she can only grant crappy wishes.
Their ad spots and Internet Historian's are the best
Rex being trained by Sloda might be the best commercial ever
I don't wanna be rude but
*That was the best FUCKING Magic Spoon Avdert EVER!*
Special it was ... more we hope they do ...
literally the only time watching an advert on UA-cam isn't annoying is when its done by the @whiskeytribe boys
Never thought I was much of a drinker, just never liked the taste. Last week I decided to try something new and I went to the local shop. Ended up leaving with a bottle of Buffalo trace and bulleit bourbon. Turns out im a bourbon guy and never knew it, it's delicious! Now I can't stop watching whiskey videos on UA-cam lmao so much to learn and I can't wait to try more. I thoroughly enjoy the content guys, cheers!
You’re telling me you can make whiskey from quinoa and you haven’t yet? 👀
We could create a whole new whiskey category! And from this day forth it shall be known as Quinoaskey!
It's.. weird. Corsair in Tennessee does it and it's a very distinct and somewhat odd flavor.
It's not actually a grain though botanically thinking.
@@YT_Loz lol
You can make alcohol from anything plus sugar and yeast...
Really great, concise, answers to these questions! Love watching you guys, keep up the great work.
Did the Som grow? Or did the Som medallion shrink?
I've been living low carb for a few years. I love Magic Spoon. I started obsessing with whiskey during Covid and the Tribe has been a huge part of that. So crazy to see these worlds of mine collide! The promos couldn't be more ridiculous and ridiculously funny. Cheers!
So we’re just gonna brush past the fact that Rex is in a black v-neck??
He's done this before. Sly devil.
Thank you both for being born you magnificent bastardsss!! I always come to this channel for whiskey advice. Cheers to you gentlemen
The title of this video reminds me of song titles from 2007.
Gems like "Our lawyers made us change the name of this song so we wouldn't get sued." "There's a good reason these tables are numbered, honey. You just haven't thought of it yet." and "pretty soon, I don't know what, but something is going to happen."
Whoa - that was an unbelievable amount of information is a VERY short time.
Well done.
This was a great episode! Thanks guys!
great video with some very helpful common questions!
AMAZING video- thank you! I especially loved the comparison of color vs time- super cool. Thanks whisky tribe!
PS- The sponsor break in the middle made my day 😂🤣
great video again. I was interested in the explanation of the burn and the way you acclimate to it. We (myself and a couple of mates) are just really starting out after being bourbon and coke drinkers for years and I'm finding each time I drink it seems like i notice the burn less and i'm tasting the flavors more.
Maddison and Richard are the best bartenders ever! Thank you Maddison for bringing me a sample of Single MOM on my visit last weekend! Y’all are the best!
I still wonder how you manage to constantly come up with new interesting video ideas after all these years. Great content as always
I am so glad I worked through that burn response. 😎
Best Magic Spoon commercial I've seen on UA-cam. Think Rex Skywalker almost twisted an ankle.
Love the Alta Vista reference. It was my go-to before I knew what Google was.
ohhh love this video.. thanks guys 👏👏👏👏
Whiskey noob here, thanks for all the info...
You Magnificent Bastards are all Awesome!
kinda thought mixing whiskies would be a no no i the whisk(e)y loving world but after watching this me and my brother mixed 2:1 buffalo trace to ardbeg 10 and it was awesome! thanks for all the awesome videos lads! love from australia x
This is the only channel on UA-cam where the sponsor bits are as entertaining as the rest of the content.
Now that's pluggin' a product. Cheers, mad lads.
This was such an informative and entertaining video!
Fun vid! Informative! Bravo!
Just got my first bottle of Jameson, looking forward to enjoying every drop of it!
Great job, guys, easygoing yet very profound 🧐
I couldn't get over how good the color grading in this video was. Great job you Magnificent Bastards.
I'm from England ao luckily I can pop up to Scotland anytime I want. Just the other month i was actually on the beautiful Isle of Mull at the Tobermory distillery and it's simply not fare how jaw dropping beautiful that corner of the world is. Its painful coming home.
I have a bottle of Bells Old Scotch whiskey from the 1970's, unopened and still has the import seal over the plastic wrap on the stopper.
I have a bottle of the pot still bourbon from Balcones and I’m trying to understand Texas whiskey style more so I can enjoy it. How is it that the hot Texas weather can pull lots of barrel flavor in a short time, but still have that harsh flavor of alcohol that is typically found in young whiskey? It seems Texas style whiskey matures quicker in some ways but not in others? Is there a catch 22 in Texas whiskey aging? I love your channel, Thank you!
Damn she almost had a motorcycle!!!!!!!
Loved this upload the energy easy fun and uplifting!! Cheers guys
A little off topic, but I checked out Daniels music because y’all mention it on occasion, and dude, he’s freakin awesome! Great voice and the stuff with the full band grooves. Anyways cheers ya mbs happy saturday
I know right?! I like to rock out to some Whittington whenever I drink whisky with my housemates.
This is great content guys
A+ video guys thanks as always
@Whiskey Tribe
The homemade commercials are classic!
Some interesting points. I would also add that the first "whiskey" distilled by Irish monks in the Middle Ages would be more like gin. Barrel aging whiskey didn't become a thing until about the 1600s I think. And the earliest aqua vitae was usually flavoured with the addition of things like mint, honey, salt, berries etc. And on a slightly different note, the first aqua vitae was when they made a fatal mistake by only distilling it once. They died because they learned the hard way that it had to be distilled twice before it was purified and safe to drink.
Yeah whisky as we know it is a relatively new craft. Widespread use of barrel aging didn't become a thing until the 1800s. We are in the golden age of whisk(e)y. A global recession could shutdown a lot of the distilleries we take for granted now, and narrow the vast selection that is currently enjoyed.
I think Daniel invented whisky for Rex to consume. Amen.
@@Burvedys Hobbits are known to live for many years.
Fun fact, Canada was the first whisky producing region to *require* barrel-aging when it laid down whisky regs that required three years of aging. Canada was far from the first to deliberately age spirit in barrels but it was the first to require it in law.
Whiskey or any beverage need not be distilled twice. Certain styles may be distilled multiple times, but once will do, and it will be drinkable, provided you throw put the heads. Most mashes have some methanol in it, which boils off more quickly than ethanol, so it comes out of the still first. Methanol is toxic, much more than ethanol, and the risks of drinking it is that it will kill you, certainly much faster than ethanol. So, when distilling, the heads are thrown out, and that is the key.
Isopropyl is as toxic as ethanol, but we do not experience the same effects. If you are trying to get drunk on Isopropyl, you won't.
All alcohols are toxic, but to different degrees.
I have read or heard that barrel aging came as a result of barrels being used for transportation, and those on the receiving end liking the result. True or not? No idea.
That Topo Chico----- Love it. In order of preference for me Scotch, Irish Whisky, Topo Chico. Tennessee Whisky, Bourbon, Canadian well lets just say they call it whisky...lol
Daniel is that your level 4 Whisk(e)y Somm necklace...CONGRATULATIONS !!!🧐😃
Amazing to see those Spanish DYC whisky in the background. They are not loved even in their home country and you have like three over there
I just love how in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, all of the other british kingdoms were inventing so many things, but the irish.... oh no, the irish invented whiskey in the 14th century and decided, "thats it, we're done." And took a 300 year break before inventing anything else
The Magic Spoon ad was amazing!
This might be the wrong spot but I have been looking into being a certified whiskey taster? For lack of a better term. So many terms out there, so many certifications. What is most legitimate way to obtain whiskey certification, what did you go through for your certifications? I love it and want to learn more, or start my own business even. Love the channel, it's what got me to point where I'm asking this question.
Great episode.
You guys make me feel safe enough to ask - is that a cork in your pocket...😂
No seriously - I'm proofing down some stuff off the still do I add the (water to alcohol) or (alcohol to water)...? I'm trying not to make it cloudy. Best water to use distilled or spring....?
Thanks, love the show 🥃
Since the interaction of maturing whiskey with the wood of the barrels, is what imparts the color and some of the flavor profile, wouldn't internal bracing of the barrels accelerate that process? Slats on a barrel are cut in such a way the the contents interact with the sides of fibers of the wood, not the more porous ends of the fibers. If the were cut alternatively to exposed ends of the wood fibers, they would leak, through capillary action. If there were pieces internal to the barrel, submerged in the fluid, this would allow the interaction, without leaking.
Love the timestamps!
speaking of "peatiness" or smoky smell in a whiskey, does the wood or materials used to dry the barley have effect on the end result, namely the smell of the whiskey? for example, peat is used in Scotland to create that special peaty smell; if pine wood or oak or cypress wood/leaves are used to dry the barley, will the whiskey come out with different smells?
The best advertising on UA-cam. Perhaps.... the entire media outlet for the entire world?
Just a heads up you can import Scotch in bulk but you have to be registered only scotch that has to be imported in bottle is single malt.
Adventurous Stills in Tempe, AZ made a whiskey with 51% quinoa, it tasted like pure hatch green chili's. Delicious, but sadly it was a temporary run
You guys may never see this, but with the spring coming I just had an idea for an experiment: can you distil maple tree sap? Can you use -insert random tree sap- in whiskey?
Keep up the great work 🥃
Whoever segmented the questions out deserves a raise.
Question of the decade!! How do you think the offensively cold weather last month will effect the whiskey currently aging in your barrelhouse? Is that something that can be predicted, and have you taken samples since? I am very curious about this.
The ad for Magic Spoon in the middle of the video made me think I was having a stroke! 🤣
I just realized that I was eating Magic Spoon cereal while watching the Magic Spoon segment. LOL
Every time I watch ur channel/videos it doesn't matter what time it is i wanna break out my favorite bottle and have a glass while I'm watching
Much love, Tribe!
Have you guys out there tried your whisky in a warm glass. Really brings out the sweetness in a bourbon. Always liked my whisky after the glass warm's in your hand. It really make a big difference to the taste.
The "countries with an 'E' spell it 'whiskey'" rule breaks down when you include places like Sweden, England, Wales or even Argentina. The rule of thumb I always use is "Everywhere in the world spells it without an 'E' except Ireland and America*"
*apart from Makers, Dickel and a couple of others...
Of the weird and wonderful grain spirits sorghum is my favourite. I wouldn't consider it whiskey since they make the alcohol from the mashed stalks like sugar cane, but it is technically a grain but not really. Those "whiskeys" can taste like whiskey up to rums.
Really weird...but wonderful.
You guys should try and get your hands on south Boston Irish whiskey.
More Briana and thank you for the episode I can show my friends who whip my ass with 20 questions when it's time to play whiskey. Cheers!
Hey guys. What whiskey should I try if every one I've tried so far tastes of ethanol? The only thing I've enjoyed so far is Screwball Peanut Butter Whiskey and well, I'm pretty sure that's not the real thing. Thanks guys and I love the videos.
For whiskey stones, I found these plastic cubes filled with a liquid that freezes in the freezer. Basically ice cubes that don’t water down the drink.
"The frosted wizard of the Southwest." That made me laugh way too much
Do you guys have a channel recommendation for something like you guys, but for other alcohols, such as rum?
For anyone interested in the history of alcohol as a whole the book Drink by Iain Gately is great.
I have a glass decanter that I pour all my almost empty whiskey bottles into. It's Irish scotch bourbon Canadian and rye all blended together.
apparently newer bottlings of glendronach 12yo and 15yo no longer say "non-chill filtered." Maybe a blind taste test to see if there's a noticeable difference? Thanks for the great content guys :))
I'm very happy to see the return of the Spoon Lord
Have you tried Glen Breton single malt whisky? From cape Breton nova Scotia. Scottish descendants who still follow Gaelic culture and language.
I think there is a distillery somewhere in Australia making whisky from wattle seed.
I thought we were getting a new still update at the end!
Great info you Magnificent Bastards!!!
Best ad of all time
This was fun to watch and learn from. There was a bit too much editing.
As far as I know, Whiskey Tribe is the only place on the internet that has ads. And, as it turns out, they're great!
Oops, I forgot about JayzTwoCents' ads for iFixIt. So, there are two places.
Why isn't she already a part of all episodes?
She's just crazy enough to really lift the 'youtube' quality 👌of the episode's
Briana is pretty special
@@sanosuke001 is she Rex daughter?
@@orlybriceno I think she's just someone who hangs out at the tasting room but idk for sure; I don't recall them introducing her origin story haha
@@sanosuke001 yeah I don't think I ever seen anything like that, just wondered like a parent giving a motorcycle to his daughter or when Daniel said all mooches are the same or something like that
Rex. Is a genius. March only Magic Spoon Cereal flavors "flexing". Seems the quest video looks like Titan scenes. Looks like new role of Content Wrangler may want to have employee meeting and play Tribe Video.
I'll bite (Magic Spoon). Placed order. Go forth MBs and contribute more to the madness.
god damnit whatever magic spoon has paid you it is NOT enough. these ads are like a freaking saturday morning tv show but better
Im in Canada and pot is legal here, I rarely smoke but I found last night that while I was high that I didn't get the alcohol burn because of it. Johnny walker red seemed pretty darn good
If you're in Canada, make sure you eventually get your hands on some good Canadian craft whisky, like Shelter Point or Two Brewers or Glen Breton. After all, it's true that we keep the good stuff for ourselves, so might as well enjoy it!
Right now there's an effort to try and get the feds to legalize shipping alcohol nationwide. Right now, legal producers like Shelter Point can only ship within the province, limiting their distribution growth outside the province to nearly zero, and the pandemic has made that limitation even more painful as everything else has become more strained.
How many years you can use one barrel for ageing whiskey?
And that's how you make a whisky video WITH MAGNIFICENCE!
whisk(e)y is awesome with cream soda
As a Kentuckian I say Blasphemy, bourbon is all from KY haha
On the stones! I got a stainless steel ice cube and it last longer than a large ice cube
holy crap, I'm wanting to see more commercials now hahahahaa
What do y’all think of Jameson’s distillers mark?
Briana showed us that she has come so far, but still has a long way to go. And the same goes for us all!
Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whiskey (pen-dr-uhn) if you get the chance to try it. gimme your thoughts, I wish the welsh was more known in the US
hey guys.. I'm not sure on your standings/opinions on achievements at the world spirits competition.. but please comment on Timah whiskey from Malaysia as they were awarded silver which IMO is far from what they deserve
Ooooooo I see that Ka Va Lan on the shelf. I love Taiwanese whiskey.
I have always heard and read that the oldest distilled alcohol in the world is Armagnac, which comes from France.
That short bottle behind them with the light blue label!! What isss it??
Okay, so what's the outro music? I'm digging it
