All about how to get a quick green up in time for guests or a party, or just to have the darkest green yard on the block.
Here we are applying milorganite organic fertilizer along with ironite for extra deep greening. It is time for a fertilizer application and milorganite is my fert of choice for this time of year. It won't give the lawn too much of a jolt to stimulate quick growth but will give us just the right amount of nitrogen at 13 pounds of product per 1,000 square feet (3/4 lb of nitrogen). Milorganite will also give us some iron and will help turn our lawn a deeper shade of green, which is usually enough, but we want the DEEPEST green we can get for our special guest arriving.
For an extra deep greening we are supplementing with some extra iron with our ironic product. The liquid form of iron will actually give you quicker results, however I got this granular from walmart for $1 a bag, and you're basically losing money if you don't buy it.

@@hamletliriano this is turf type tall fescue which is a cool season grass. You would need warm season grass like Bermuda or zoysia probably

I use a similar combination, but instead of the Ironite, I combine liquid chelated iron and liquid sea kelp and spray it on the lawn. Sometimes I will throw in some liquid humic acid also. Milorganite is an amazing product, I just wish the price hadn’t doubled.

Great video and tips. I have almost the same setup as you, my old super recycler, earth way spreader and trusty milorganite. But.... and this is huge, I didn’t see you wearing safety glasses when you cut or trimmed without an edge guard. I don’t want to tell you what to do, but if you lose an eye from something flying up and hitting you, that would be awful shame. I’ve been working with my hands my whole life and every time I brave it something flys up and hits me. I’ve been hit with metal shrapnel too many times to not always wear my safety glasses. They’re only 10 bucks and they will save your vision one day!!! Plus I want to see you keep making awesome lawns! Keep up the great work!

Re your edging - I agree with edge after mow. But a trick I used to use with a twin-blade electric was to raise the mower on one side and lower it on the other and walk the mower along the edge with about 1-/3 of the mower over the sidewalk This puts a delicious chamfer on the edge. You can adjust the mower wheel heighrs and the portion of the mower over the sidewalk for your own custom chamfer.
