Very wide loves - singing people art sculpture printmaking fashion bodies makeup clothing food design painting clay drawings ink computer art, poetry instruments beauty …. Read about her, what she’s been doing at art school, about her life….. she is right in amongst it…..it’s not just a distraction…
Wasn’t going to say this but… have a degree in printmaking like she has. I love all creative endeavours branching into every field of it….
She finished an art course in her 60’s.
Now she’s doing another one…
Don’t you think she’s want to be part of the cultural world with her artistic abilities? Culture -for your information- includes clothing design.
It’s not a lesser art.
While I was at art school there was this war between art and design to argue which was better! Neither is better. They are two parts of one field.
We had the art department with high set of painting and over there, the design department with other art of graphic design, record cover design, lettering, advertising. I did subjects in both fortunately.
So did my best friend who came into art school from a graphics course. I came in through a pottery course. Fine art was considered higher by some.
But really it was not.
Fashion design was related to the design department. So was hair and shop window dressing, interior design, posters, jingles, psychology.
Later I met a guy who wrote jingles in NY. He had studies psychology. It branches everywhere.
It’s all connected up.
To get up there and sing like her is a passion to sing and a drive to be creative. And the same goes for someone who spends their hours drawing clothing!!

I was given a paint set as a child and encouraged. I drew and sang. I danced and imagined gardens and paintings and clothes and rooms I’d create.
I did papiere mache.
I made etched jewellery.
I made lots of clothing.
I did a series of paintings at high school.
I went to art school at 18.
I did lots of different things there.
Record covers, plaster, leather, photography experiences with mates in the dark before I was enrolled in photography, life drawing, film history, sociology, culture, theory of art, painting, etc.
It was all connected.
Now it seems a wonderful magic carpet ride….
A friend was painting a triptych for final year and asked me to be in it so my picture was taken.
In the painting I was standing in water. It was all done in air brush. We sang in a concert together as well. He topped his year and got a studio but needed someone to share the rent so he asked me to share the space doing clay but I said no. Wasn’t sure how I’d afford it.
By then I’d left art school, was doing a teaching course and an elective in art.
I hated the course.
I left it.
Went travelling.
I went back to another art school later and did 4 yrs, age 28.
Became an art teacher.
Taught for years.
To encourage people to do more art.
That’s why I’m saying treat all of the Arts as ONE.
Fashion does not need your approval to be art.
It already is.
To wear or design or draw or make beautiful clothing is just an amazing form of creativity….
I’ve been passionate about clothes all my life.

Looking at design in clothes…
And I sing.
I sing ok.
The reason I was watching Alison on YT was I was reading about her life and how she has gone.
I’m so glad she is doing what she’s doing. Following what she likes to do…
And collaborating with other artists…
Now I will listen to the song again.
To explore the clothing and hear the sounds together.
There are many branches in thee YARTs.
Unreal she looks better and better as the years go on. This should be a whole concert with the symphony..

I wss in the 10th grade and fell in love with a girl name Teresa who loved this song and introduced me to Yaz. Now Im 55, with 10 children and 8 grand children, and as soon as I turn on this song Im transported back to 1985 listening from a place of pure innocence in Love and the wonder and awe contained in these lyrics.
