I agree. It would have been more believable if she suddenly realized what Penguin was going to do and started shouting, No no no or something and telling her men not to shoot and then Penguin threw the lighter anyway.
Reeves is nailing the personalities of the villains. Batman villains are so damaged and unique from one another it’s amazing to see it portrayed and perfected. I’m so excited about everything when it comes to all things Reeves is doing with the Batman.
Penguin has now killed Sophia’s brother and Salvatore’s wife and son. It only makes sense that one of them will find out about Oz’s mother and go after her. He seems to be trusting Victor to help protect her so if something happens to Penguins mother, I can see him blaming everything on Victor.
Squid is going to blow Vic's spot up and lead Sofia & Sal right to Oz's mom. i think Vic will go full villain on Squid after that to complete his character arc.

I don’t think Victors survives past this series. I’m not saying he won’t make it past season one, but for however long this series goes, my gut tells me Victor won’t make it past the series finale. And I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Oz that off’s him, because like Campea mentioned, Penguin at his core is a low down dirty evil slimeball. I think it’s safe to say that the majority of viewers like Victor and feel sorry for him in a way, and what better way to magnify Penguin’s “evilness” than to have him murder Victor at some point down the line. Another thing I want to add: in my opinion, Penguin’s ceiling is as an underworld crime boss (like Kingpin in Marvel). 10:17 I hope Maroni does make it out. I'm a big fan of Clancy Brown's work. I first saw him as the terrifying/sardonic Kurgan in Highlander 1986 and he kind of stole the show a bit. Very good at playing the villain. Brown was in an admittedly brief but interesting role as a calculating subtle schemer in Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2. It'd be nice to see him get more recognition in a big budget mainstream film like The Batman 2. I know Clancy Brown is 65 and been in John Wick and the Dexter spinoff but I'd be oddly interested in seeing Batman fight Mr. Krabs.
What I love about this show is that there are no good guys lol the show does a great job of making the viewers choose between villains lol the only innocent in the entire show is Oz mom, the character building is awesome the story itself is awesome just a great show this new DC movement is definitely going in the right direction ✌🏾
It’s gotten to the point where it’s a bit silly for this to be the “penguin” from “The Batman” all this inanse criminal activity, and not one mention of Batman. Not saying we need twilight boy to show up, but at least a mention? The Batman movie made you think criminals were scared at night when the light was in the sky. This feels like it’s not in the same world at all
That's my only problem with the show. 5 episodes in and no mention or sight of the Batman who Penguin has had direct contact with and is the reason his former boss went down. I know it's its own thing but that's rediculous.
@@l8on675batman not appearing kind of makes sense, since his actions basically inspired the wrong people and led to the flooding of Gotham. So he has to change his approach. But yeah, a mention of the character( don't even have to say his name, all they had to do is refer to him as "he") would have been nice. All I remember are some subtle mentions like in the first episode, where he burns the body just before sunrise
Don’t care. They wrote an enjoyable story and slapped a coat of DC paint on it. It’s been said over and over and over again in interviews that Batman isn’t gonna be in the series. If you can’t overcome it by now then all I can say is I’m sorry it’s keeping you from enjoying the show.
Batman is a goofy character mentioning him will take away from the seriousness of the show. A serious mob show and you mentioned a guy in a batsuit fighting crime?
and oz and his bodyguard had no problems at all with the ambush. A bit too easy and forced for the plot to move in a direction. I mean tiktok is a thing in gotham? okay lets kidnap the son no one ever mentioned before and put gasoline all over him, no one is gonna notice as an crime boss. surely they brought full force backup but nope - 2 people gonna kill them all. Just so maroni is reeeaaally pissed and Giganten can make the next move to build up a (final) showdown.. i mean episode 5 was still good but not as great as the others. The bar is very high with this show. I'd give episode 5 a 7/10. Overall i'd say 9/10.
Calling it now that they’re saving a Batman cameo for the final episode and it’s going to completely break the internet. They’d be so foolish not to at least have him make a brief appearance.
At first I didn’t think they would do it, but after what happened in Episode 4 and continuing with 5, I have a hard time believing Batman would ignore this news without heavy investigations
With Colin saying he's in for one season of the show, I'd like the curveball of Penguin being taken out by Sofia. We got Penguin in Batman and I don't know if there's a need for more.
It just doesn’t feel immersive. I mean the show is great but you are telling me the whole falcone family is wiped out under suspicious circumstances along with half of the maroni family and batman still won’t show up to see what’s going on is ridiculous. It feels like the batman doesn’t exist in this Gotham. They haven’t even mentioned him in the show. Not sure even a single goon says something along the lines of what if the batman shows up lmao
Tired of everyone interested in Vic's fate and the amount of screentime he gets compared to the Falcone family. Now Vic and the mom are all that is left. It would have been nice if there were a few additional characters that are not cannon fodder.
Maroni? More like moroni. Thats one of the downsides i see with the show. Maronis kind of got the short end of the stick and they are supposed to be this big crime family and then the heir of the family just posts his location on tiktok
I'm loving the show but the fact that there is no mention of Batman at all is a bit annoying. There is enough happening on the show that would bring it to the attention of Batman and Gordon. And it isn't as if the city isn't functional. It seems the worst of the flooding has now been dealt with. Also, in all honesty, I don't know why anyone thinks Sofia or Maroni will make it past this season. The whole point of the show is The Penguin's rise to the top, and anyone who reads Batman comics knows that Falcones and Maronis type of gangsters die off and the freaks take over Gotham. At best, Sofia will land back in Arkham, but I don't see her making it past the season. Vic can either go down the path of becoming a villain himself, or will get killed.
Completely agree on that first part, Batman needs to be mentioned. The show is incredible but without any mention of Batman I often forget I’m watching a Batman show, and that’s not a good thing
@@KM-tv5kmthe show takes place like a week after the movie at the Batman which is an not a seasoned vet yet and has a lot of training physically and mentally to do especially at the end of the movie and also Gotham is crime ridden to the max post-flood wall bombing so it’s also likely Batman can’t even keep up with mafia wars
@@CNDYFLIP trust me I get all that and I can agree, but we also have to mention that Oz had numerous run-ins with Batman in the film, it would make sense for his name to be at least mentioned given their history
My least favorite episode thus far. To be fair, though… that last episode is a very, very tough act to follow. A few great scenes though like the tattoo parlor and the “cooked” scene. Both great, but it was all over the place. Narratively and tonally. Either way, Still an AMAZING show thus far!
I was told that ep 5 was the worst out of the hole show and 6,7,8 increasingly get better compared to ep 4 but idek how that’s possible it was rated a 9.5 ep 8 about to be a 10/10 at this rate!!
This is the episode that made me realize this just isn't a high quality show. Nadia Maroni just letting herself burn as well when her son got lit on fire... The Maronis letting Oz get away and missing all their shots... Sal Maroni somehow escaping prison because the guard had keys... Oz somehow knowing about the abandoned underground area that Bruce uses... and the generator still working... ok this is just a show where writers handwave things away to make the plot proceed. it should've been obvious in episode 2 when Oz successfully planted the knife but yeah
Oz literally said he grew up playing in the trolley tunnels. Pay attention. We also don’t know if the trolley tunnels connect to the subway tunnels. the episode ended with the generator failing. Pay attention Is it that unbelievable that Nadia would rather die with her son than let him burn alone? They literally showed how oz outmaneuvered Nadia’s trap by dousing taj in gasoline and gagging him, what’s so hard to understand
@@stacysmom9926 Oz literally explaining that he knew about the trolley tunnels right as he shows them doesn't explain anything. It should've been a detail planted in an earlier episode. Then Maroni just saying that he escaped the prison because he took the keys from that one guard... just completely unbelievable. Nadia somehow deciding to die instead of shooting at the guy who killed her son makes no sense. The guys all missing Oz and letting him get away after pulling a stunt like that is just plot armour. Oz knew they were going to be looking for the knifer the moment he did it, and yet waited until the very last moment to plant it. So incredibly risky a plan that he got lucky succeeding at. What was he going to do if they searched him before sending everyone into that room where he ended up planting it? He also had 0 control over who he'd have physical access to in that mini scuffle, so it couldn't have been planned very precisely.
Yeah them just being lit on fire was sloppy there, I would have liked to at least see them make the effort to move out of the way. But I saw it as her accepting defeat, because her plan was flipped on it's head. Ep2. Oz planting the knife was a spontaneous action. The suspense, and point of the scene is to say "Uh oh, Oz is in trouble here". Oz doesn't need to be a genius and good at everything, sometimes he will get caught, or make a play that saves his life. I'm thinking how Sal Maroni got out of prison will be explained later, maybe? Not sure how anyone in there right mind would think "oh yeah he has the keys though" is a legit synopsis of what happened :D Oz knowing about the tunnels is explained immediately in this Ep., so I'm fine with that.
I've asked a few of my friends if it was me or is the show just, not good, one specifically confirmed the feeling and said he agrees. We ARE in the minority. Most people like it or love it....I feel like it's a mass delusion. Non of the supporting cast remotely come across as menacing or even mafiosi. Too many convienances. Some parts feel shot in "The Batman" universe, some don't and give "Gotham" vibes. Ok at best.

Oz also told a 2nd "Rex Calabrese" story in episode 5, which got me thinking, is it possible that Calabrese is actually Oz's father?
That’s what I’m thinking
Makes sense, since his mother says he has great ambitions like his father. Plus, how else would a 14 year old know about a mafia don?

Very good at playing the villain. Brown was in an admittedly brief but interesting role as a calculating subtle schemer in Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2. It'd be nice to see him get more recognition in a big budget mainstream film like The Batman 2. I know Clancy Brown is 65 and been in John Wick and the Dexter spinoff but I'd be oddly interested in seeing Batman fight Mr. Krabs.
Oh hello there John. Thank you for noticing
How did IGN give The Penguin a 5 out of 10. I don't understand it.
And then gave Agatha a bigger rating lol, bunch of clowns. 🤣 No one takes IGN seriously.
As I love Shogun, this show is awesome
There are things that has me wondering if Victor will change his last name to Szaz
Sofia has to live! No way they kill her off
the only question i have... are the Maronies made of polyester? god they burn fast
They covered the son in flammable liquid and when he hugged his mom her got her soaked in it
What I love about this show is that there are no good guys lol the show does a great job of making the viewers choose between villains lol the only innocent in the entire show is Oz mom, the character building is awesome the story itself is awesome just a great show this new DC movement is definitely going in the right direction ✌🏾
This feels like it’s not in the same world at all
Well, considering that the deal was made just before sunrise, its kind of a subtle mention.
"That was lit" hahaha timing!!!!
How could Maronies wife not smell gasoline on her son?
Maybe it was something else? Good point though…
I mean, odorless flammable liquids do exist so...
Maybe it was Diddys baby oil
it didn't matter she wanted her son either way and she also stood by him knowing the fire was going for her son as they burned together.
and oz and his bodyguard had no problems at all with the ambush.
Or at the very least, showing the Bat-Symbol
Well, Matt Reeves did say that the end of The Penguin sets right into the events of The Batman 2, so it is possible.
At first I didn’t think they would do it, but after what happened in Episode 4 and continuing with 5, I have a hard time believing Batman would ignore this news without heavy investigations
Go NYY in the World Series!!!
With Colin saying he's in for one season of the show, I'd like the curveball of Penguin being taken out by Sofia. We got Penguin in Batman and I don't know if there's a need for more.
He's coming back in Part 2
Any possibility that Victor becomes Victor Szasz??🤔
He’s not gonna make it out alive
Show is phenomenal but the fact that batman hasnt even been mentioned is so weird to me.
Was expecting some talk about it when the police chief and Sofia was talking. I was like, she gonna mention him, but nothing...
I’m glad he hasn’t been mentioned or referenced.
@@aimansirkhot3822 The family was killed outside of Gotham
I believe batman was mentioned in the opening scene of the first episode by the news
I feel like Penguin is going to kill Vic by the end of the season.
I don’t think so, but I do think Sophia is going to kill him.
Dude
@@theonewhoeatslemons1931 I predicted this a month ago when only episode 2 was released.
Do you think they will reveal vicks last name at the end of the season setting him up as Mr freeze for batman 2
Vics last name is Aguilar
He'll turn bald and turn into mr freeze. That's genius
I also chose to sleep last night instead of watching lol.
Tired of everyone interested in Vic's fate and the amount of screentime he gets compared to the Falcone family. Now Vic and the mom are all that is left. It would have been nice if there were a few additional characters that are not cannon fodder.

Why is Maroni always sitting down and not standing? Is Clancy Brown not able to walk?
He was standing when he got shanked
@@KM-tv5km
He doesn’t need to be mentioned. The characters can stand on their own.
Agreed, my least favorite episode but still a dang good show
felt like a lot of setup. Good setup but still. Now things can get going in the next episodes :)
I enjoyed it. The opening shot of the damaged Maserati was 🔥.
I was told that ep 5 was the worst out of the hole show and 6,7,8 increasingly get better compared to ep 4 but idek how that’s possible it was rated a 9.5 ep 8 about to be a 10/10 at this rate!!
Ign 5 ⭐
I bet this series ends with Oz killing Vic
or sells him out hard somehow
Victor is probably gonna be Mr Freeze
I loooooved episode 1-4. At episode 5 my attention started to drift away. Well, it can’t always be xmas.
Love the sponsors, John Campea 🤡
Pay attention
Is it that unbelievable that Nadia would rather die with her son than let him burn alone?
Not sure how anyone in there right mind would think "oh yeah he has the keys though" is a legit synopsis of what happened :D
Oz knowing about the tunnels is explained immediately in this Ep., so I'm fine with that.
Ok at best.
The show is okay in terms of the story. What makes it standout is its performances and cinematography.
Weakest episode of the series so far. Felt rushed.
“That’s lit” was not that funny. And then he goes “were you sitting on that?”. I mean come on.
WOW. You're really flaming them in the comments, ehh 👀
@@Jamyes9909 his reaction to that comment just got me 🤷🏻♂️
