    That tint really didn't make much of a difference in light output but made the taillights look a ton better. I like it. Some people go too far and get really black taillight which is not only ugly but makes it terrible to see the lights, especially during the day. That's asking for trouble with the law.

      Jetta Castaneda the smokes tint will be best best. I’m getting mine done at 1:30pm today

    • @Richard97402
      @Richard97402 5 років тому

      @Jetta Castaneda It's getting to the point that all cars are illegal in California..... SMH.
      This SHOULD be legal in California, but you'd likely get pulled over, in larger cities, and cities where police have a habit of pulling people over. California police seem to be looking for any excuse to pull people over. Different import laws from the rest of the country, no aftermarket exhaust, strict window tint laws, etc.
      The nice thing, if they pull you over..... peel it off and the problem goes away. =)

      @@Richard97402very dark tail light tint is illegal almost everywhere. there are a few exceptions, but not enough to make the case

    • @Richard97402
      @Richard97402 4 роки тому

      @@IIlicit it depends where you are. Here the law is that light has to be visible for 500 feet. Over new, LED taillights, I can use 5% tint (blocks 95% of light) and it is still visible over 500 feet. The dark taillight tints, that I have found, meter around 12%, which allow 7% MORE light to pass through it. That means on a car like mine, which has bright LEDs, I can basically use any taillight tint, because enough light is still visible. If you're tinting your 1989 Honda Accord, which had factory lights, and has yellowed with age, you might not be able to use any tint, because it will be too dark. Use common sense, and read local laws, to avoid trouble.

    Here in Oregon the law for tail/brake lights is that they must be visible in daylight from a minimum of 500 feet. If they’re not, you’re gonna get a ticket from a state trooper for sure!! I love your work CK Wraps. I’ve learned a lot for my own personal cars. Thank you!!!

    Super impressed with how easy you make this look. I need you to do tail lights for an Infiniti Q50! Tried mine a couple of times now just not getting a result I am happy with. The lights have a sharp charger contour and a 90 degree curve from back to side. This causes a ton of bunching material I just cannot get to lay flat!!

  • @josephrepetsky546

    I needed this video considering my sportage has very similar shape to your Tucson. I've been practicing & I'm simply just putting too much work vs less. Also taillight tint even the dark tint doesn't block out much. The light stuff is like a 50-70% window tint which isn't much & the medium being 30-50% & the Dark being no lower than 20%-30%. All being said it's not much only if you go dark but they make very bright LED bulbs to fix that. My advice would be minus the legal terms is look at your insurance Policy because if you even have the slightest of tint they can be well an insurance company & deny your claim but 99% of it is all about visible light output so as long as you meet that you'll be covered. Anyway keep posting these videos & thanks for making me become a better tinter for my own vehicles & friends.

    Tinting lights is one of the first mods everyone aspires to do! I can't see why anyone would thumb this down - if it's not your cup of tea, move on! No need for hate; each to their own and all that.
    I started with those spray can but could never get both sides to look 'equal'. Having said that, I tried using wrap a few times but without success. Guess I haven't got the skill. The best I've managed so far (only recently) is tint the white part only on my Jaguar XF. I was meant to wrap the whole light and then cut the white out, but I burnt a hole (or 3) in the tint and ended up with the reverse of what I wanted! If you've done the older XF's before (2009), I'd appreciate some pointers

    I have the same light smoke tint for over 2 years now on my A4 and nobody even notices unless I tell them it is tinted... either day or night. But, if I were to remove one of them the difference is glaring beteween stock and tinted! It just makes it look so much nicer & subdued without having to worry about cops and safety (for others).

      The best way to learn is to do.
      Christian's videos are AWESOME, but they don't give you experience. I had a little experience doing stripes, but nothing else. I learned a lot from Christian, but had to learn a LOT more, once I was standing in front of my car. With the knowledge that he has shared, I was more confident in how to overcome problems, but I had to overcome them. Definitely enjoy the videos, but don't be afraid to practice. I didn't have enough disposable income for a full wrap, so I did a two-tone. The bottom half is the factory paint, and the top half is Vvivid Satin Blue Chrome. It was a way to save some money, get a custom look, and learn first hand. Do stripes, do your roof, etc. It is rewarding to overcome the problems and to get an end result that you can be happy with. (Even more rewarding when everyone stops to ask about the "crazy blue on my car") lol

      Grilles can be very difficult, because some have honeycomb shapes, complex patterns, etc. If you just was to do a lip, or opening on a grille, you would do it just like you would a bumper. (He has lots of good videos) If you wanted to do the intricate portions (like honeycomb, or slats) than something like PlastiDip will be SOOOOOOO much easier. You can do it with the grille on the car, or remove it, depending on your preference and how much you want to mask. A few (4-6 for best results and ease of removal later.) even coats of plastidip and you;ll be done. You can do complicated grilles with vinyl, but sometimes a different/better tool, makes the job easier.
      Good luck, either way. =)

    To be fair, it's not up to us to decide how "bright enough" lights are. It's up to the Department of Transportation (DOT). I'm sure they take into consideration what people can see and what is too dark, too bright, bright enough. Any time you tint them whether it's film or spray you take away some of the light being transmitted which is there for safety.
    Do people sacrifice safety for style? Sure they do. It's the responsibility of person deciding to modify their vehicle, not the installer, to make that choice because they are the ones who will be subject to fines if it's against vehicle code. Just like window tint.
    Love your vids, CK. Keep up the good work.
