After a lot of thinking and trial and error, I got the piston doors! I had watched tutorials before, but that was years ago and I never really paid attention to how they work. It isn't as compact as yours but I'm really proud!
Extremely helpful honestly, I just get started with Redstone mechanics. I always enjoyed making like small things with redstone, but now I finally want to understand how that really works. I already freestyled quite a bit, for example I made a continuous arrow-trap with a RS-NOR-Latch, redstone clock and and 2 paired falling edge monostable curcuits to slow down the output from the clock, which worked out nicely unexpected haha. Can't wait to get more into it, really nice video!
I like your videos and always rewatching it. Is just so good for reminder. Is just nice looking guy with a mustache explaining each redstone contraption
Who else remembers back in the day when you didn't even know what the internet really was but just watched a bunch of minecraft vids and randomly coming across Mumbos nuclear reactor tutorial?
I'd like more videos like this one! There's tons of videos that just show you a bunch of circuits and logic gates and then that's it, you have to memorize them without giving them context. But a video like this, with a little less brute-force information, followed by prompts to make you use the circuits you were shown, that is absolutely what I need!
Not sure if someone's said this but there is another point to be made about buttons too: Wooden buttons can be held down if you hit them with an arrow or trident. This functionality obviously has been obfuscated some by the target block but it has always been around. Probable good way to remember the difference between stone and wooden buttons/pressure plates on what triggers them: Stone requires direct force.
I'd also like to add that it's a great idea to keep track of your work with the use of signs, book and quill or even just a notebook in the real world. Write down everything you're thinking and the names of what you're working with. Describe how you think everything works as you build it so you can go back over your notes in future to remind yourself of these things. Studies have shown that even just the act of note taking, even if the notes make little to no sense or if you never go back and read them, helps you take in information and better remember it. There's a reason teachers urge you to take notes in school.
Most of your vids are like 20 mins long! You are such a dedicated UA-camr and probably the only one I’ve found. You’ve just earned yourself a subscriber and hopefully more by people with the same opinion!
A good tip as well, is to remember that Redstone works in a Binary system. With 0s and 1s. 0 Meaning Off. 1 Meaning On. Similar to computer binary system, the more 1s, the more things, different combinations, different outcomes. This literally means when working with Redstone, you are also working with basic electric engineering, and computing. So remember the simple things such as a AND gate; Which require X inputs to be 1s to give an output. Otherwise it won't send the signal. The XAND gate; Same as an AND gate, but reverse, it requires the X inputs to be 1s to stop an output, otherwise keeps on giving a signal. A OR gate, simple but very good to have, stands for Either Or Gate, it requires either one of the inputs to be active or off to give a signal. If both are on, it goes off, if both are off, it goes off, if one is on, and the other is off, it activates. This combined with a T-Flip Flop system, makes for a great press button on either side of a piston door, to open and close. Remember the simple stuff, leads into the more complex stuff.
@@strykerleach4242 Well it is not made to be a fun read so many will get bored by it. At least it is not an electronics class, or binary computing class.
Teekeks They aren't really useful because only people like Impulse could use it once because Items stack together and count then as one entity which makes these Pressure nearly useless.
mumbo has some great advice in this vid I'd like to add a couple names for the "watch people" part computational redstone: mattbatwings' logical redstone reloaded series is great door redstone: even for people not needing to make doors, myuen222's "compact redstone: a piston door making view" is a goated series for people wanting to do door redstone, you might want to watch lum3nd0's explanations and tutorials of his doors, his doors are very high level but I always learn a couple things from watching and rewatching lum3nd0's videos I don't know about that many redstone learning series so these are the only ones that come to mind, I hope this helps
Also do this when you first start your redstone world: /gamerule doTileDrops false This way things like levers/redstone/buttons/etc won't drop as items when you break the block they're on.
I have a redstone mechnic using items tho .-. When anvil falls on the pressure plate i put repeaters to make the redstone range more longer.. i also put lava in the sides so items will get destroyed when dropped..
Do you noow what I did? 1.Got a command block. 2.Made it to repeat forever 3.Made it always active. 4.Put this command: /summon cow 5.My PC had a lot of fun. :)

Me after watching this vid: I FEEL LIKE IM A REDSTONE MASTER!!!
Me after logging on minecraft: I FEEL LIKE IM A REDSTONE NOOB!!!

It's like an electrical current through conductive blocks in a way idk
Thanks Jumbo, now I don't have to go to college for this.
Or the remake of the shifting cave
YES YES YES
me
you should do a series where you give us things to build then tell us how you wouldve built em
yesss!!!! i want this
Agree...
That would be great
I'd like more videos like this one!
This is programming in 3 dimensions, it`s amazing. Just like a real life computer circuit, perfect for introducing kids to complex stuff.
I am a 12-year-old who knows basic c++/C#(variables, functions, arrays, loops, etc) and I still haven't designed a decent redstone contraption
Zaim Waqar why did you mention variables/loops and shit? Is that all that you know in those languages?
Zaim Waqar Serius??? I’m programing in C# a lot, and I’m quite good in redstone! I’m working on a 6-bit computer in Minecraft
#11YearOldPro xD
Jacob Aulin Lol, the bragging is real. Let’s see where you guys are at in programming in a couples years from now

@@mlnz2991 I love naruto
@@brett_webber233 we talking bout red stone here dont change the subject lol.
Same
then practise it
This should be named: full redstone tutorial every single component
I'd also like to add that it's a great idea to keep track of your work with the use of signs, book and quill or even just a notebook in the real world. Write down everything you're thinking and the names of what you're working with. Describe how you think everything works as you build it so you can go back over your notes in future to remind yourself of these things.
Studies have shown that even just the act of note taking, even if the notes make little to no sense or if you never go back and read them, helps you take in information and better remember it. There's a reason teachers urge you to take notes in school.
my question is ARE YOU A TEACHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ShadowGao dude, we don't even have summer breaks...

@@xeliotrop8376 nope. There is literally no summer breaks and I'm an Asian...
When you play bedrock edition and most of the mechanics don't work :/
I just found this out the hard way. I just tried to make a piston extender and you cant pull other pistons with a piston.
Mojang doesn't give a fuck about supported version consistency
yeah... i can't make the last "homework" wall workbench even from the video since it doesn't work...
@@midnightrose23 i figured it out
@@midnightrose23 u can, but it's very inconsistent.
EXCELLENT!! Would love an update with skulk and honey etc
Most of your vids are like 20 mins long! You are such a dedicated UA-camr and probably the only one I’ve found. You’ve just earned yourself a subscriber and hopefully more by people with the same opinion!
U R THE BEST TEACHER/UA-camR THAT IS A REDSTONE KING!!!
The InVsible I know he is red
I'm just as good my Redstone vids r old I'm MUCH better now
A good tip as well, is to remember that Redstone works in a Binary system.
Im gonna screen shot this and thanks for the tips :D
i got to bored to finish reading this comment
@@strykerleach4242 Well it is not made to be a fun read so many will get bored by it. At least it is not an electronics class, or binary computing class.
Nice
WORLD RECORD
"Because you my friend, are redstone ready."
When Iron and Gold pressure plates are so irrelevant that they dont even get mentioned
Teekeks yeah...
Teekeks They aren't really useful because only people like Impulse could use it once because Items stack together and count then as one entity which makes these Pressure nearly useless.
So put the entity thing on jebs polishing list for minecraft 1.12
I tried to use them but I couldn't hide my Redstone while powering it for some reason.
I tried to use them, but... #GrammerFTW
the capitals are the most important part
That was extremely helpful. Please make more like it.
mumbo has some great advice in this vid
I'd like to add a couple names for the "watch people" part
computational redstone:
mattbatwings' logical redstone reloaded series is great
door redstone:
even for people not needing to make doors, myuen222's "compact redstone: a piston door making view" is a goated series
for people wanting to do door redstone, you might want to watch lum3nd0's explanations and tutorials of his doors, his doors are very high level but I always learn a couple things from watching and rewatching lum3nd0's videos
I don't know about that many redstone learning series so these are the only ones that come to mind, I hope this helps
Mumbo: I've done quite a BIT of Redstone!
Me: *looks at the background* Seems legit...
Also do this when you first start your redstone world: /gamerule doTileDrops false
This way things like levers/redstone/buttons/etc won't drop as items when you break the block they're on.
omg thank you soo mucchhhhhhhhhh.....
Haha thx man
I have a redstone mechnic using items tho .-. When anvil falls on the pressure plate i put repeaters to make the redstone range more longer.. i also put lava in the sides so items will get destroyed when dropped..
Or hopers
Trophonix Thanks this tip was very helpful
I remember ur other vid where grian and you switched and
Grian: “WTH IS A T-FLOP?!
Mumbo: Explains how to make a moving wooden door with a lever.
Me: *FAILS*
I was searching for this video for months. Thanks Mumbo Jumbo for helping me learn so much about Redstone!😀
Do you noow what I did?
1.Got a command block.
2.Made it to repeat forever
3.Made it always active.
4.Put this command: /summon cow
5.My PC had a lot of fun. :)
😵
Andrea YT I did one that tpd me to a specific point. I didn't have fun. :)
Tech Test i had to /setblock a Block instead of the command.. I Almost lose the world but then i Got the Right coordinstes loool
Andrea YT LLOOLL
lolololol
"And the dropper will always dispense"
Mumbo: Redstone can only reach up to 15 blocks
Redstone repeater: allow me to introduce myself!
