    I'm loving this video. It makes me jealous but in a good way. The way I see it there's two kinds of jealous. Angry jealous, where people get bitter that they don't already have what they want( not my style).And inspired jealous, where I do want what you have but I'm inspired to work for it.
    I've always wanted to fly and I'm working towards that now. If I play my cards right I might be able to have my own chunk of property before I retire.
    Watching videos like this inspire me to work harder to make my dreams come true. Love the video. Keep up the good work.👍

    Quintessential farm life is lots of space, no complaining neighbours & basically being able to do whatever you want, like building a landing strip and taking your plane for a flight

    Love the farm tour. And I like you talking us through what you’re doing. I’m really starting to like the UL power. I know it’s not that common. But it’s perfect for the 701. Flying along at 2000rpm’s in complete control is a lot better than a engine screaming at 5000rpm. It has to make for less stress on pilot and aircraft. Nice video Jon. You will be the Trent Palmer of the East.....

    You could have taken off, 4 times while you were getting to your check list point, love the 701 and the 801 even more.
    Have a great day and stay safe.

    Absolutely amazing! I was lucky enough to work at Zenith for a few months back in 1999, and I logged 10 hours on Roger's 701 when it still had the 80hp 912. I cannot imagine how much fun it is with that UL Power engine!

    Awesome vid. Jon! I ran across your channel by pure accident and glad I did. You answered some questions I had about STOL flying in certain conditions. There are TONS of videos out there showcasing landing on short or long DRY ROCKY strips, but RARELY do you see one landing on wet/muddy terrain. Some folks live in areas of heavy rainfall and are on the fence about getting a kit/used STOL aircraft (ok, ANY aircraft) for fear of not being able to takeoff and land, ESPECIALLY in an emergency. I normally don't watch flying videos as lengthy as this because after the first 5 or 10 minutes, it's all the same. But not yours (at least this one, don't know about the rest :) ). And I agree with River Rat, I like you talking us through what you’re doing. Keep up the good work.

      Super701 I fly a few airplanes. I fly out of 1AO in Hixson. They have Cessnas and a Citabria that I enjoy taking for flights around the area. I flew out of RZR for a bit when they had the 162 there. I hope to start my own experimental build within the next 5 years once my kids get a little older. Still haven’t decided on a SuperSTOL or a Vans RV-8.

    11:36 How did you get the camera mounted on the plane without seeing the pole? Obviously isn't a drone. Does software edit out the pole mount on the camera? That's the only explanation I can think of. Cheers, nice video and plane.

    Nice flying and 701. I'm starting my scratch build of the 701 as soon as all my material shows up. Just bought a jabiru 3300a for it. How do you like the whirlwind prop? Don't know why they don't list a 3 blade for jabiru. Direct drive and 10 hp less than your ul. I may buy the one you have since power drive rotation and rpm are almost the same. Nice job on your build look forward to more videos.

    • @TNFlyingFarmer
      @TNFlyingFarmer  4 роки тому +1

      Nice! I really like the 3-blade 66" whirlwind. I mostly went with it over the 2-blade to gain a little extra prop clearance. It works beautifully.

    Great video, I think it's been mostly your videos, and your plane featured on an other channel that finally tipped me in the direction of building a 701 for myself. For anyone else building a 701, what were all of the options you used from Zenith? you said the four position flaps and it looks like you put on the streamlined struts, was there any other option that you figured was a must have? is there anything else you would do different if you had to build it all over?

    • @TNFlyingFarmer
      @TNFlyingFarmer  4 роки тому

      Yes, I went with the streamlined struts and the 4-position flaps. If you are going to be mostly off-airport, I would highly recommend you look at using Desser 22-8.50-6 smooth tires on the mains and the Aeroclassic 21-8.00-6 ribbed tire on the front. You can go larger, but this setup works really well without putting too much additional stress on the gear.

    I didn't get the jug thing? Why did you put that there?

    • @TNFlyingFarmer
      @TNFlyingFarmer  4 роки тому

      I set the jug out to have a reference for spot landings. Trying to touch down with the left main tire just beside the jug. Not as good/visible as flags and marked lines, but it helps give a point to shoot for in a big open field.

    13:30 I enjoy your videos and wish you a healthy future, BUT, for the sake of your wife and child, PLEASE consider wearing some type of crash helmet. Yes, even a bicycle helmet would protect your brain some. All that low flying puts you at much greater risk of busting something.
