Sir, if you are still watching this, you are an amazing talent. I have the age to have been around, but I had not heard this song until recently while researching some of Phil C's drum chops (yes, incredible), but what you have done here is truly a treasure. Thank you for this. I know you have not posted a score, but you should. I'm much of a 'off the cuff' player as it seems you are, but are unsatisfied with imperfection. You may play something 23 times, but find one note that is not quite right, and want to fix it. But from one musician to another, the force is very strong in you. Thank you.
Massimo: the very first thing I noticed in your playing is that you play Genesis with the exact right touch, articulation, dynamics, sustain pedal work and timing (for my taste that is). Many (great) pianists (and orchestras BTW) play it with what sounds like a 100% classical approach to my ears - and the off beat (syncopated) notes sound all very stiff. Not so in your case - all syncopated notes fit perfectly into the flow - as in the original music! You have the touch of a pianist who plays classical and also jazz/latin. I checked your channel - "Bingo!". :-D Awesome!
Christian Schonberger I've always enjoyed playing and listening to different musical genres and mix them in my arrangements and in my compositions. Thanks again, Christian, for your attention and sensitivity with which to listen to me :)
I can only reiterate what Christian S says Many of the ”classical“ pianists on YT are so ”engrossed“ that they end up butchering the soul out of Genesis songs. Then there are the other ”types“ who don‘t have the technique or virtitude to do the music justice. Massimo, you have the perfect balance. Please give us more G classics.
Yuss! You just put your finger on what irritates me about most 'hip, cool, with-it' Classically-trained-personnel orchestrations of pop songs. Kinda inverse pretentiousness somehow. Thankyou! :-)
This is the best intro I’ve ever heard besides the original and the best cover. The dynamics control and contrast is just as close to perfect as one can get. Also the fact that you were able to successfully turn Steve’s guitar solo into a piano solo is just amazing. Strings to keys is not an easy transition. I listened to the original song a day after hearing this and it’s about as close as one can get. I think Tony would approve
Thanks Rosalind 😊 Actually after this video I continued to work on the arrangement to make it even closer to the original and, at the same time, enrich it and better adapt it to the piano (in the vocal part and in the guitar solo). I also corrected a couple of details of the intro. These are the results: ua-cam.com/video/2m90j5ONYuc/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/iADhFLrnuy0/v-deo.html
Heard a couple of pianists playing old Genesis. They were good. This is worldclass. OMG! As an old Genesis fan, I buy in all the way through Mr. Bucci and his Yamaha's performance to an extent, where nobody I have heard so far can even begin to match. E-x-c-e-l-l-e-n-t and thank you!
Ciao Massimo....this is one of my favorite Genesis tunes. Your arrangement is beautiful. Your dynamics, voicings, tempi, and rhythm capture the spirit of Tony Banks' original composition. Thank you for sharing this epic piece of music.
That was absolutely incredible. The volume control, and my daughter and I said to each other that is the best introductory cover we've heard on UA-cam.
Thank you so much for giving us this. I love early Genesis (Peter Gabriel era), this is remarkably faithful to the original, and stands up well as a piece of music in its own right.
My FAVORITE piece of ANY Genesis song, I have all of their songs and this is by far the most beautiful song they ever released and as I am listening to you play this and heard the transition where the band normally joins in.... and there you are just playing the rest of the song, as a piano player for some reason I just started crying... this IS the most beautiful version of the song i've ever heard, all on piano. THANK YOU made my day!! You are a MASTER!

Bravissimo!!!
I was expecting only the intro, and behold!....a gorgeous piano arrangement of the WHOLE piece! Played as beautifully as it was interpreted and arranged. It would be worth Tony Bank's time to hear your tribute for certain! Bravissimo!
I'm very happy that you like the Hacket's solo, but over time I felt the need to change the arrangement, making a new video in 2019 and then in 2022, and now I'm quite satisfied with it.
Every time I come back and listen to it I am brought to tears. Tony Banks and Massimo Bucci thank you! Wow. Thank you for sharing your gifts! Wonderful. Just wonderful!
Massimo, both this and your cover of Tarkus are the best piano covers of modern songs I've ever heard. Nothing ever -quite- captures the intent, there's always something missing... not here.
Absolutely beautiful rendition of a Tony Banks classic. I believe a lot of Genesis' early work will stand the test of time. Much like the Classical music my father taught me to appreciate when I was young but didn't really grasp until I was older. Thank you Massimo for sharing your tremendous talent!!
This is the first time I heard a 10 minute video of solo piano rendering of Firth of Fifth all the way through. Mostly, the first 2-3 minutes is enough to deem someone "well, that's good..." and one moves on. But to keep the listener in such an iron grip all the way through, i e one can't just let it go, one is just immersed and wants to hear how this continues and ends. That's a major feat. I e keeping the listener on the toes, with drama, tension, and release. You don't reveal everything in one blow at the start, but one has wetting appetite to just hear more and more. You're not just a hack that fixes it technically, and virtuosic, but there's emotion, and your playing is charged with plenty of "sense of wanting to go somewhere", urge, flow, and hungriness and all that, that wants the listener to sit out til the end. Captivating performance indeed.
Grazie.

This is just incredible....never seen or heard one person do the whole song on piano....and it is just beautiful.....thank u so much for this blessing❤️

taraxxxx Grazie!:-)
MICIDIALE! STUPENDO! BRAVISSIMO! 💝 ...grazie di questo dono!
Wow! Wow! You have taken probably my all-time favourite Genesis song and your piano transcript for Steve Hackett's soaring guitar and Peter Gabriel's amazing vocals and still made that little shiver go down my spine. You are simply a brilliant pianist and musician to do this. So very good. Thank you.
brillante, magnífica version a piano solo piano espectacular!❤
Impressionante! Elegante, equilibrata, fluida, passionale. Bravissimo!
Fantastic rendition of a genesis classic superb
Already saw/heard this video dozens times, and Thank You so much Massimo, that makes me allways connect to the images and feelings that I have since I heard the original album in the Lyceum. You play it superbly, and your expressions, yours accents, yours silents, never distract us from the ideas we have from the original memories. You've capture micron by micron all the intensity and profoundness of the theme. THANK YOU MASSIMO BANKS.
