- Questo è il mio primo arrangiamento per piano di "Firth of Fifth" (introduzione a parte).
Il pezzo lo conosco da quando è uscito, ma soltanto adesso ho deciso di farne l'arrangiamento completo per pianoforte solo, in dieci giorni di lavoro.

I'm not even a Genesis fan, but I am a pianist who was led to this by a Genesis fan, and I think this is pretty damn good! And this does tempt me into giving the original a listen...

Dopo quei dieci giorni di lavoro dell'aprile/maggio 2013 ho continuato a lavorare su Firth Of Fifth fino ad oggi, trasformando e arricchendo il mio arrangiamento.
Nonostante, o forse proprio perché la voce di Gabriel è la cosa più inimitabile al pianoforte, fin dall'inizio , mi sono imposto di essere il più possibile fedele al suo canto, almeno dal punto di vista della scansione ritmica, anche se, ad un certo momento, ho deciso di inserire un paio di soluzioni melodiche della versione cantata da Phil Collins.
Ho continuato ad ascoltare Firth Of Fifth, sempre alla ricerca di qualcosa che mi fosse sfuggito in precedenza (e l'ho sempre trovato!)
Il mio desiderio di avvicinarmi sempre di più all'originale, da una parte, e di renderlo sempre più pianistico, dall'altra, ha generato diverse versioni, fino a quella attuale, del 2020, ancora non pubblicata, che ritengo la migliore di tutte, e non di poco, soprattuto nella parte cantata.
Di sicuro, ad alimentare significativamente questo mio desiderio di miglioramento sono stati soprattutto i vostri apprezzamenti. Grazie a tutti.

Da ormai quasi 30 anni, da quando l'ho sentita la prima volta, ho sempre pensato che nel Giorno del Giudizio sentiremo questo brano come colonna sonora Universale.. e per chi ha orecchio sa che rispecchia tutta la drammaticità di quel momento.. con un lieto fine di speranza solo per quei pochi fortunati che resteranno!

The song that changed my life in the 70's. From then I became a huge fan of symphonic rock (Genesis, Yes, Gentle Giant, Greenslade ...). Well done, Massimo. Just one little remark: the intro is too quick. The rest is a jewel.
