Rania is cheated by smugglers, teargassed and beaten at the Macedonian border. She risks drowning in the Mediterranean, travelling in a boat meant to hold 15 people but stuffed with 52. Those with disabilities are carried across raging rivers and muddy fields in their wheelchairs. The documentary is produced and directed by Anders Hammer

wtf dude, they were brang to greece. they could stay there, get their passports, european nationality and everything, but they want to go to germany, where the wages are amazing and you can become rich. If they would stay in greece for some longer time they would get nationality and they could go there by plane :)

I can only wish that Syria will be safe someday... I can imagine that moving is not a thing they want, but have to because they have no choice
Ni Cole Syrian refugees are the minority of refugees, and those that arrive in central europe did not try to escape from war, because to get to Central europe they would First have to cross a huge amount of safe countries.
They dont fight for their country, all they do is blame it on the world

Lots of people are moving back to Syria. The government has almost taken back the country, and they they are closing checkpoints and opening borders with Jordan again. They are repairing streets.

I'm from Greece and I can tell that the situation here is really bad too. I burst into tears every time I watch these kind of videos which are rarely shown on TV. I'm so disgusted and disappointed of this world. We could be in their position at any time as well. So please help them they are like everyone else they are human beings and they are in need. They were safe in Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Austria but they wanted Germany.
As Kurd you are not safe in Turkey they and they never came to macedonia, serbia, croatia, slovenia they got sent back at the border to greece where you live in a tent in winter and nearly freez then they flew to austria and me as austrian is saying this 2 are good people so i say welcome Rania
I have to do an English project on a bad refugee situation. I picked Syria because it is a most commonly spoken crisis, but I have only just understood why. Watching this made me burst into tears at several points. I can understand that yes, this is depressing and sad, but that doesn't mean it's too sad to show on the news. The reason why there is still so much of this unhuman savage-like behavior is that the general public isn't made aware of it. I fail to see why this isn't more important than celebrities lives that are constantly posted all over the internet. "A problem shared is a problem halved" is a great quote to use now. The more people know about this, the easier we can make refugees lives become. The way this whole thing is "handled" is disgusting.
We have to dismantle that disgusting Muslim religion. Only the bad parts. The bad people.
Meggie, I wish my most spoilt niece was half as understanding and caring as you come across. She is about your age, she just rolls her eyes when I ever talk about people suffering any where to her an her friends. Makes me feel better that there good kids like you around in this world. I sincerely hope that you will make a difference in the future with your knowledge gained and lessons learned from the miseries of the war torn countries. Do not forget that Europe and America fought many wars before they saw peace times. May be one day that would be possible in Middle East . Africa and Asia. Until than, love and understanding will be needed. May be people would stay back and rebuild their countries and economies with a little bit of help from everywhere. Germany did it after the ww2, so can Syria.
I cried the whole way during the video. I'm from lebanon and we have happily welcome millions of siryan families. I'm so happy that my country done that for other people. Yes they are people not ghosts so put yourself in their shoes and imagine what they have been through. My whole family and relatives have so many ways that they are helping and supporting the people that go through this. On the news you see 'someone stole chocolate bar's, seriously they never show what goes on in these peoples lives. It's so sad to see this. My county was onces destroyed by war like this so people know how it feels over there and that's why they help the people in need by accepting then into lebanon. I live in Australia and was never taught by any teachers or any government agency or on tv that we should support people in these kind of situations only family taught me. My dad was also in war while he was a baby so he supports as much as he can.
Oh boy, so many people in the comments say that they don‘t understand why the refugees don‘t stay in the first safe country they go to. So if ya‘ll just think for a minute. If your home country would be destroyed, unsafe and in war - but before all that happened you had a safe life, money, a good education etc. Wouldn’t you also choose the best country to live in after you HAVE to leave your old home because of the war? So I can totally say for myself that if I were in that damn hard situation, I would also choose a country like germany. They may have to live the rest of their life in that new country, so why should‘nt they choose a good one? Everyone with a clear mind should know that NO human beeing EVER would do all that just for fun. They‘re searching for a better live like everyone of us would do in that situation.
K lol that‘s the dumbest thing i‘ve heard so far
K Yeah people who break the law are never good to a country no matter if they‘re born there or not. And I also agree with you that there‘s a problem with countries who have to handle too many refugees. But I just wanted to make people like you look trough their eyes, everyone would choose the „best“ country to live in. Because I think some people forget that they are just humans like you an me and everyone would do that in a situation like this.. (I don‘t mean breaking the law or smth like that)
K And yeah they are refugees but it‘s clear that they all wan‘t to live in the best country. They‘re not on a vacation, they may have to live the rest of their life in that new country. Wouldn‘t you also choose a country where you think you‘d have the brightest future in? And I think most of the refugees don‘t even know that some countries have a big problem with the amount of refugees they have to handle.
preach sis
K you have no respect they have a hard life ok
When they almost drowned, my heart skipped a bit.
I feel so sorry that that many people here in Europe don't seem to see why they are fleeing. Especially as a German I can't understand how even we have so many right winged people. We went through the same more than 70 years ago. Just accept them. Help them learn the language.
We have enough space and money and time and everything to share.
this is why i love germans the most
Omar 1111 Totally forgot about you little piece of nothing. Would you please explain why you would like to see a human beeing to die? I'm curious. And waiting.
Omar 1111 And why?
Omar 1111 That didn’t answer my question. I’d like to read a reason. A comprehensible reason.
Omar 1111 You said they were foul being and deserve every bad thing. I wanted to know why they are bad beings and deserve every bad thing. Please explain it. I don’t understand.

I feel for the refugees, but y'all have to realize that these countries cannot afford hosting millions of refugees without serious consequences in the countries' economies and safety.
I agree completely, it's their own fault and they need to fix it, not escape to our countries where they do not belong, especially belonging to Islam.
Thanks but I'm not saying that exactly...
@@l.e.8434 you have no idea of islam u cant judge a religion, for the action of powerhungry people that want their ways to come true. The entire concept what they are doing is even anti islam so your already wrong in that.

Millions...?? Only one million people escaped to Germany .... and a few tausend are divided in different EU countries......
I know that the media make it sound like tausend of million but in reality there are not THAT MUCH refugees ...
So please search next Time and be sure about what you want to say/write!
Did I say I was counting how many people got asylum?? No, if you can read, you will realize that I'm pointing out that countries can't hold the 14 million refugees stuck in refugee camps. I'm not saying there are millions who have asylum in Western countries. Next time be sure to read the actual argument!
God this absolutely broke my heart but I'm also so glad she recorded it all. I really hope she's now living in peace with some comfort and stability.
I'm sure if you were in a war torn country, you would also want to escape,so stop forsaking them for fleeing to other countries.
Ray Revolta Why don't they stop at Germany or France then? Because we have better benefits. Some war fleeing.
Why don't they go East or down into Africa then? Or Saudi or UAE?
Oh get a fucking grip. If your countries government & anti-government organizations were at war and neither side favored you there'd really be nothing else left to do but flee.
You can absolutely not even remotely understand what these refugees are going through.
Get a fucking grip.
No, I would fight for my home and country. So I will do exactly that, forsake them for being cowards. The same kind of cowardice that turned the Muslim world into a backwater land of poverty and subjugation of women when at one point in time it was the epitome of education and discovery.
"You can absolutely not even remotely understand what these refugees are going through. "
Yet, you somehow can understand that to tell others they don't and take their side?
There are plenty of other things to besides fleeing like cowards. If 4 million of the refugees organized they would effectively be their own fighting force and could take either side on.
Fact is, many of them are just worthless sheoples and talent less cowards that don't deserve to be a drain on the economies of better societies.
My heart is conflicted. As a uni student of economics, i understand receiving refugees isnt beneficial to the country and there is a huge burden that the hosting country must take. But at the same time I feel like we still need to. Couple of years back I volunteered on Mytilini refugee camp in Lesbos island in Greece. My heart was torn to see what kind of ppl were seeking to cross. Inevitably there were crooks, gangsters and criminals who were running away from being sentenced in their home countries. But at the same time there were intelligent, hardworking, educated, good charactered people who were wanting to escape the hostility of the extremists. One African man i met ran for his life and left his country. I asked about how he got here. He was a journalist back at his home country. He ran for his life and became a refugee because he was being hunted down by the government. He publicly posted an article exposing a member of parliament who kept a harem of underage girls that was sold or kidnapped. He exposed the trafficking that was involved and gave extensive witnesses and testimonials. The day after it was publicized he received a phone call. It was one of his colleagues. His colleague told him that everyone in the office was either arrested or shot dead if resisted. So he told him to run for his life, to not meet anyone, only take the necessity and go. He did. He arrived in turkey like many other refugees. There he met with his colleague. This guy asked the colleague if he heard anything about his family. The colleague told him the last time he heard was that this guys mother was taken to prison. The face this man showed as he told me this story was something i will remember for the rest of my life. His eyes were red and he couldnt stop the tears running down his cheeks, yet his face was emotionless and lifeless, his voice was low and monotonous. I asked him why he did what he did and if he knew the danger that was involved. His answer was simple "Someone had to do it. And yes I knew it was dangerous". Then it was meal time and he walked up slowly to the line that was forming infront of the cafeteria.
Thank you for your story and your help! If we care more about money than humanity then we've already failed :)
They don't flee from war.
They just bring the conflicts of their home countries to other countries.
@@JackoBanon1 tell that to the third parties mixing in on the fights lol. Your argument can be used likewise.
You don't want to help that journalist's cause by naming the name of the politician and saying what country it was in?
If Im totally honest with you I cant remember the name of the country. To my knowledge it was a name I havent heard before. He was alone because apparently he was the only one from that country in that refugee camp (usually the refugee camp housing arrangement goes by nationality and also political alliance since some of them refuse to be in the same compound with a rival or enemy country). And the name of the politician he didnt state as well.

stevie bops, it isn't stupid at all, as long as other religion doesn't wants to kill you because you have your own religion, there is no reason to not respect at least the believer of that religion (again, religion, not cults).
Stevie bops we must love each and every religion, think about your own religion, what if your religion get hate by another religion and want to destroy your religion, and at that you will come to think and you must respect every religion! Before religion there must be Humanism
+Bikas Karki
But that's simply not a good statement. It's not like it's impossible for religions to be bad. Old germanic religions used human sacrifices, is your "respect N love every religion" a great idea? All you need is this example to show that no, some religions you shouldn't respect.

Aneesh Prasobhan why Islamic countries are allowing them like suadi Arabia and Iran ,uae and more
Okay man, this is absolutely crazy.... I get the arguments from both sides. I get that we are all human beings who deserve the same chance for a proper life, but the refugees have to be patient. The whole process is slow as it is very difficult to actually check who is coming to Europe. Their lack of respect makes the whole process only more violent and worse for both sides. Europe is loving and cares for all but to enter it all refugees have to respect its laws first. And also refugees are not in the position to choose their final destination country, they plea that they flew from the war, not because of economical interests, so they should stay where they are told to and wait for their final destination country. I dont mean to be hating, but people just try to understand both sides before pussing on EU.
If they are any more patient then they have been for the past few years, they will die of hunger, disease, and more bombings. If you put yourself in their shoes you will most likely act the same way, when people are desperate they do things out of character.
I can't agree more with you. I have some of my relatives who escaped Vietnam via boat back then after the Fall of Saigon (1975) and the whole Vietnam fell under communism. The escape route was much more dangerous because it was open sea, you can get caught by Communist border guard (and sent to jail), or raped and/or sold as sex slaves by the pirates operating in that area, finally the boats were also small and could easily sink. Even if they were saved by international boats, they were sent to refugee camps in the neighbouring countries and had to wait several years for a country to accept them. Some of them are lucky and get move on fast, some of them have to wait for a long time, years after years. Now we Vietnamese are all over the globe, well-integrated and contributing to the countries we are living in. Mind you, these refugees can just stay in the refugee camps in Greece, because they are safe there, no war, no mass killings by jihadists. They can just stay there and wait, either moving forward to live in an European country or returning to their when the war has ended. They didn't have to cross border-to-border like that, and why Germany? Because the economy there is good? Sounds more like opportunists to me than actual refugees.
Problem tho: Today we have over 60 million displaced people, that is an all-time record. Simply waiting might have served you back then, but today, you'd be better off waiting for ur own death than a country to just let you in.
So, what you are saying is that because there is a war on their homeland, it's okay for them to invade Europe and demand social benefits? I'm interested how you came to that conclusion.
@@Faceless_Chat it's okay for them to demand help and respect from people that have the resources, yes. They're just as human as we are.

Obviously I feel sorry for her and all those people. It’s not their fault there is a war in their country but I live in Greece and they are ruining our county as well. They are creating loads of problems for our country, many of them are violent towards us and there are tens of thousands of them maybe millions everywhere. As if we don’t have enough problems without them.
I totally understand you but it is not their fault, it's the EU's. They have left Greece and other counries boradering the Mediterranean on their own for years. We should have a system where refugees are divided equally between the member states. The current system is not fair und simply stupid. I have the most respect to the Greek people for the hosptality they still give to refugees even though they have so many problems without them already.
They are probably not sirian people
Beacause they are lazy and It is easier to flee than to fight....they should be deported all...
Char Loud System dividing the refugees? Here in Sweden we take in most refugees in all of the EY.
How disgusting to say this. This video is just one of the first that show the monstrosity of the crisis. In reality struggles for these people are probably so much worse. Who can blame the small small minority that may act violently if they have spent their whole life treated like this. I really think u and others with this opinion should re think this arrogant distorted view u have on refugees. One day it may be you in a situation like this.

I dont know why she is so mad at the border-soldiers. They are doing their job. If some one one enters your home. You will defend it. Btw her trip was easy. We went from afghanistan too holland by foot and boat.
Why are you comparing one struggle with another as if you're saying 'Oh we had it worse'. People are scared here, people are dying... and you're treating this like it is a competition of how bad your trip was compared to Rania's...
@Cecile Paupiette it's not trolling it's the truth
We get the fact that their doing their job, but she has the right. Plus, it's not just her, it's everyone there. And there is a difference between defending your home and your country. Border- soldiers may do their job by just standing there with guns. But they have absolutley no right, not in a million years, to throw stones and tear gas at these people. In the end of the day, they are still humans, just like us. Some people became unconcious because of this. No one deserves to be treated this way. It's not their fault wars are happening, they're trying to save themselves and they're families' lives. Most people won't understand because thank god, they've never been in a situation like this. The last thing people like you should do, is to throw hate. And her trip was not "easy". There is a difference between travelling for fun, with your family, having food and water, knowing your okay, and having no connection to your family, barely having life supplies, and being okay is the last thing you could think about.

Дадан Даданский because the greek economy cant bear so many People. They cant Even offer enough money to their own greek People. The Country doesnt have the Money to Build enough infrastructure to handle this many refugees.
Germany on the other hand has a lot of resources and a great economy (economy even increased although there are living so many refugees here). Germany can offer a foundation to help the people that are coming.
In Germany they simply have a chance to rebuild their life’s, in Greece they don’t.

Bravo for this video! It was very courageous and it showed a tiny bit of the horrors the migrants had to go through traveling through Greece. Eidomeni camp was terrible for all. The Greeks tried their best to help, as well as the volunteers. Good luck to all!
Well greek people respect and help refuges because some years ago they were also refuges from this evil country turkey ... but refuges don't show respect to greece calling fyrom macedonia... macedonia is greek and also thsi fyrom soldiers was nearly going to kill refuges and small kids
I am from greece. As you know we have economic problems here. The government does its best to help refugees even though it doesnt have money to pay its own people. I often walk down the street and see refugees. Whenever I see kids my age I wave at them, maybe it will make their day just a bit better. However some of them dont appreciate the help. Some of them steal and destroy things and try to force their own opinions. I’m a Syrian that has to leave my country so this video hit home to me
Omg plz save them the refugees ... I hope they r fine , not just the lady who filmed& her boyfriend but also the rest who made her journey beautiful 😃 may God be with u guys people of Syria
King BLufferz There isn't more than 8,000 syrian refugees in the uk. And crime rate in germany decreased by 10% last year.
ye lets safe them and all of these "things" are going to immigrate in greece
BORN TO MID they are humans , now i can find the reason why turkey hate you .
King BLufferz im Turkish but I don’t like a lot of Syrians coming to turkey some of them cause chaos
This comment session makes me terribly sad. These are people just like us, who have dreams of a good life, who watch GoT like the rest of us for example. They are not animals, and even animals deverse a good life. What is worth being a "First world country" If you have forgotten love and compassion. Put yourselves in their shoes for a moment and think thoroughly about your judgement. You people make me feel ashamed to call myself european.
Yeah. They should really quit Islam and the cause of all these wars is gone.
At the end of the day, they are unlucky, there is nothing that can change what they have been born into now, so it is partially understandable for the people from European countries like Germany to dislike this movement in general as robberies and theft is caused by these very people every day due to their illegal immigration, so instead of putting yourself in the immigrants shoes all the times in these analogies, put yourself in the shoes of someone who’s grandmother was senselessly robbed, knocked down and hospitalised by a group of Syrian immigrants out of brutal desperation, not so easy to take a side now is it? Have some sympathy for both
Woah! That’s A Nice Meme These crimes happen all the time by people who actually live there. Btw we are talking about refugees not immigrants they are totally different things.

Vietnamese-American here! My family fled to the US after the fall of Saigon in 1975. Seeing the plight of Syrian and Iraqi refugees trying to get to safety, to flee from their homeland makes me feel so bad, considering how we went through the same troubles these people did on their journey to another country. I hope they will be able to feel safe in the country they fled to.
Hope they will be fine...but each country also has right to protect their borders...
@@azharabdi3980 you don't know that!! which refugees are good or bad , recently in Canada 2 new syrian refugees wanted to blow up things and the FBI had to inform the Canadian government about these bad apples. I was a refugee myself and moved to Canada and respect the countries law, religion and it's kind people but never in my heart would I do such a bad heinous thing causing harm since Canada gave me a safe home. All refugees should mix mingle learn the language and respect the people who are already living in the country when they try to push their own religion this is when the local population pushes back! For example Germany was such a tolerant country after the new year eve sexual assault by refugees cause a seperation and people became harsh. So Yes the local folks have the right to defend their country

CANADA has given $113 million in refugees and immigration all from the hard working tax payers money who work a lot , we are taking in many many refugees but the bad apples are bad apples , in Canada we also put them in 3to 4 star HOTELS and guess what? the local population who are cold sleeping under the highway bridges are cold, hungry no room for them in the hotels because most of the new illegal refugees have taken over the shelters in Toronto. This is the reality! The refugees are making a choice to cross the ocean , they do have an option to go to Turkey, Lebanon and other non-war countries but they choose to come to Europe, Canada , America , Australia.
@@azharabdi3980 in a lot of countries that is exactly the case... The original citizens of the country are left with less jobs and more taxes to pay (look at what happens in France for example). This is why the world needs to focus more on making their lives better in the countries they come from instead of looking for places to send them to.
it’s sad to see that all the hatred in our world has led to this. kids being robbed of their childhood, people being left in starvation, and only having a small ounce of hope. i truly pray for their survival and freedom

This really makes me think that i have taken all the things in life for granted, all the opportunities i have been offered, all the love and all of the people around here. I wish you all the best 😣
Hope Sister Rania is safe and healthy.
Why cant you stay in Greece or Mecedonia? Why do you have to travel to Germany? You are abusing the system.
Macedonia has big political problems right now so i guess thats why we dont want them in we are on a brink of civil war fighting for changing the name to Northern Macedonia many patriots dont want that and we recently had the new country leader finally after many years of corruption still i hope we join nato and europe with thw name change as that is what was holding us off the greek people didnt want us in nato or eu cuz of the name
Because in germany you ain’t gotta work to get money
Greece is collapsing there are so many of them everywhere. Lots of them are violent but the thing is that we can’t close the borders because they come by sea. When they reach Greek waters they pop the boats so Greece have to save them. If someone is drowning in your country’s waters you have to save them. And so they are in our country. There are thousands of them and they are complaining that they are livens like animals. Well yah they’re illegal at least we give them food and water and all the nessecary stuff for survival. If you don’t like it go back to your country but DO NOT COMPLAIN. Peter de Vries I get why you don’t want them in Germany but we don’t want them either
They came to Portugal and left Portugal for go to other rich countries 🤣 Even if Portugal is on the top of the most pacific countries. What a joke

Somehow youths from Aleppo managed to attend International Youth Day in Poland in 2016, they simply flew here, and she can't? why?
sbx1720 i think she wasn't from Aleppo maybe she is from kobani or somwhere else beacue she spoke Kurdish❤
I'm a student in Europe, not a refugee. When I want to visit home, I fly there via Beirut Airport then continue the trip on land, same on the way back, of-course I can't fly directly because of the sanctions, but that's another subject. You can do that if you have legal documents/visa that allow you to travel. Twisted if you think about it, there are regulations in EU to accept refugees, yet they have to take the long dangerous road to get there.
Wait, so ya'll passed the nearst SAFE countries and went straight to where you think the money is lol
It is simple really, if you could go to 2 countries and one country would give you 1000 dollars and another 100 dollars, which would you take?
TashinTV I would choose 100 dollars because risk my life is also very dangerous
@Cécile Paupiette And do you really think all those refugees are now working in the western countries?

It's so weird seeing how many in the comments don't understand the refugees. It really shows how privileged you are.
The refugees don't settle down in Turkey, Greece, Iran or Italy or any other country they first flee to because 1, a lot of countries say no to immigration, for an example Eastern European countries. 2, they know very well that most of their relatives and other people fleeing have gotten citizenships in Sweden and Germany, hence they'll try to get there because it's the biggest chance of not getting deported. 3, for their own and their children's futures Germany and Sweden are better options because although they might not be able to get a well paying job, their children will always have food in their stomachs, a roof over their head, clothes on their bodies and free education which might lead to a brighter future for them. To me it's quite reasonable. Have any of you tried putting yourself in their shoes? It seems to be so easy for everyone to shittalk them but what would happen if it was reversed positions? Wouldn't you want to flee to a safe country and build a good future for you and your kids? Idk about you but that seems perfectly legit to me.
"God doesn't leave anyone behind." I'm crying watching this. I wish you could all come here. Every. Single. One.

They were deporting them back to Greece and they also probably get far away as possible so they dont get sent back to Syria. I think turkey to Syria would be one transfer I think so that's probably why they get so far away
Whyou hatin also the fact that their whole towns and cities are burned and destroyed to the ground
