      Thank you David! Not only for your comment, but also your support and donation. It sure would be great if it runs as good as it looks. I have high hopes that this will be the one time it all falls into place. It would be amazing if it all works.

      OMG Abdul! Thank you so very much. I did receive an email from PayPal saying “Hello, TonyLive Accept your $###.00 USD from pet nation”. This is the first time I ever received a donation and I thought it was scam so I didn’t click on the link yet. I was going to log into PayPal directly and then see. Hahahahaha I’m sure glad you gave me a heads up. I truly thank you for this. Any donations I receive will be used for this channel. By that I mean I won’t be buying beer on your dime! Thanks again Abdul. What are you working on? Anything specific?

      @@TonyLiveTV hello Tony I am working on 1981 380 sl single row chain after changing the chain and guides I can’t get it to start but it is a fun work so no worries I will get it running some day.

      @@petnation4970 maybe I’ll have the same problem? Make sure your timing is correct, check for actual spark, check for fuel & air. Make sure you are getting fuel (is the plug wet?) and make sure you’re getting spark. Not much else really. Of course there’s things like the rear TDC and things like that, but if you’re getting fuel and spark and that spark is happen at the right time (timing), then it should at least fire. I wish you luck Abdul.

    Congratulations, good job! I wanted to ask, what kind of elips did you have on the cylinders?

      I’m sorry, but I do not know what an “elips” is?

      @@TonyLiveTV What is the wear on the cylinders?

    • @TonyLiveTV
      @TonyLiveTV  Рік тому

      @@arhimond7 I did not measure the cylinders. These Alusil cylinders don’t really wear. These old cars can easily go a million miles on the bottom end. Instead the cylinders can get scared or gouged. Simply removing a spark plug without first cleaning around it first can cause debris to enter the cylinder. I would say something foreign entering the cylinder is the biggest issue there. Even the rings are special low friction and don’t really wear. I installed new rings and I checked the gap first. The gap was perfect which also is an indication there is little or no wear on the cylinders. If you have a serious issue with wear or gouges, then you would probably do better with a different block. It gets super expensive to repair them.

      @@TonyLiveTV Understood, thanks, I have two blocks, one has a step in the TDC, and the second one has almost none, I will use it.

      I used Simple Green 19005 Crystal Industrial Cleaner/Degreaser to clean all the parts in this entire project. It is a fantastic water based degreaser and it's safe to use on aluminum. A little goes a long way: amzn.to/47nqJMy

    Hello.
    I am rebuilding the engine of my 500sec. When taking the heads off I saw that there was a deep scratch in cylinder nr6. So I did some research and in some forums I read that the cylinders are coated with alusil and you can't just hone the engine because if you remove that coating you have bare aluminium in the cylinder. somewhere else again I read the the engine block is completely made out of alusil. So I am pretty confused now. Is there someone that has some more knowledge and can help me? Thanks a lot and keep up the work Tony!

    • @craftedwithart
      @craftedwithart Рік тому

      Its not coated - the block is alusil

    • @TonyLiveTV
      @TonyLiveTV  Рік тому

      It is true these blocks are Alusil and require special knowledge and tools. You can hone/lap the cylinders using a special process using silicon paste and special honing felt pads which nobody seems to do anymore. The process is covered in the manual:
      www.tonk.ca/r107CD1/Program/Engine/107/M117_56/01-112.pdf
      If you have deep scratches then this will not correct that. Instead you will need to sleeve the cylinders. Finding someone knowledgeable enough to do this will also be difficult. I wish you luck!

    Hello, what is the Mercedes piston no
    A 1170304918
    A 1170301018
    As it is not available in the Middle East
    Is there another piston with the same size and dimensions and a different number? Do you have information?
    Tell me, thank you

      This information is readily available. The piston you use depends. There is more than one size. Here are the pistons and sizes for my 560SL M117:
      Standard Size 96.50 MM - 1170300918
      Repair Size 97.00mm - 1170304918
