My parents when I was very little had a 68' 442 that they bought brand new. It really made an impression because I love 68/69 442. But a family up the street had a Olds Vista Cruiser and I always thought the glass on ceiling was so awesome. I think they are one of the best wagons out there. Go Olds!!!
Beautiful car, my family drove This car across the dessert/ west through Arizona, New Mexico, Death Valley into California on a 1972 family vacation from NY.... Good times in that car😊
Really enjoyed your video, thank you! My first car was a '69 VC with the four barrel carb and required premium leaded. It was faster than an Imperial Lebaron with a 440 and it outdragged a Camaro, too! I kept it till it was 15 years old with 153,000 miles, wish i had it still, that thing was special! Thank you for keeping this one going!
a really nice find, as you say not show perhaps but v good nonetheless. Clearly lovingly maintained by previous owners. Love the 'safety' of the back row seats!
Aren't those the seatbelts visible under the 3rd seat cushion? By the way, you may not feel much headroom back there, but I stand a towering 5'6" and I'm sure the roof would seem higher to me LOL. I always liked those 2-way tailgates!
@@christianbugatticg You're welcome! I also just remembered, growing up my friends dad had one of these wagons as a company car. But his had a nicer interior and all the power stuff.
I never had a car seat or wore a seatbelt until i joined the military in the late 80's... I remember getting rear ended at a stop sign when i was about 4 or 5 in Mom's maverick, i just bounced off the back of the front seats , no harm no foul 😅....
Why can't we have cool cars like this anymore? Everything on the roads today is either a formless blob or an unnecessarily oversized pickup. Have we really been seduced into thinking these modern hulks are better? This Vista Cruiser is awesome.
is this a factory exterior color? I remember on earlier models of this body style there was a chrome exterior handle (similar to a conventional side exterior door handle without the push button) on the upper right side of the tailgate to assist with opening the tailgate as a door - I don’t believe the super stock wheels were a factory option on Vista Cruiser
Yeah so the previous owner did a few personal touches to make it his way. I do think this is a factory color, but a few shades lighter than what the car came. Thanks!
Well this one could use a few things. Not a restore but mainly some brightwork and you decide if the paint is nice enough for you. It brought $19700 earlier this year. I didn't sell it yet. I just stuck it in the back shop until I decide what to do. You are welcome to call and try to work something out. Thanks! Bill 843 294 7777
I drove only Oldsmobiles while in the US Air Force and was asked if I had any issues with them- keeping them clean was the only problem.. then more Oldsmobile’s we’re in the parking lots….
was the vinyl roof a factory option? I’m guessing it must’ve been since the chrome trim on the lower C pillar separating the vinyl top from the lower body is present - don’t remember seeing this option before
Well I have explained it before but I will certainly explain it to you. So the best source to sell these cars and bring them to the most buyers at any given time is the website, Bring a Trailer. I post them up, whatever they bring they bring. I let the market decide. I had issues 2 years ago with people coming up on the lot and trying to buy them directly from the lot. No matter what price I gave it was simply too much! Got tired of having to try and explain to local buyers they area not $5000 cars anymore. That being said, if anyone on UA-cam sees a car in the background that I have not submitted to BAT yet, they can certainly call and make a deal. For me it's about the path of least resistance to get a car sold and BAT is that avenue! It's quick, it's fun and the car sells no matter what in a week!! Hope that makes sense. And you can always just call me and let me know what you want and when it comes in I call you first!! Thanks! Bill 843 294 7777
Just talking about this wagon yesterday with my sister. Our neighbor had one and we thought the roof was cool.
Nice! Ready to get it sold!
What a great and unique vehicle! It's all about the extra glass and the faux wood! Great find, Bill!
Indeed!!
Of all the American wagons, the Olds Vista Cruiser is among the top “cruisers”-dimensions, third row comfort, hp and other options. Pure class!
Thank you!

Now that would have been an awesome trip!!
Boy you sure do find some very nice, unusual cars. Can’t say I have ever seen one of those at a show!
Yeah I would say these are pretty stinking rare!

Hey! No those are the leather straps that you pull up on to bring the seat. up! Thanks!
There's a big wagon following.... You should do well on this one !
I hope so, as I spent a ton getting it ready! lol
Neat wagon, Bill. But, did you notice that the front seat is from a 2 door car?
The 3rd row seatbelts are under the seat!
I did not notice that. So much to know on all these cars! Thanks for sharing that.

@@tomb7382 Nice!
We had one growing up but I do not remember what year ours was. The back back seat as we called faced the rear window.
Yes, some wagons had the seats facing out back
The rear seat in mine faced backwards, otherwise it is the same car. Very cool!
Nice!!

OH NO!!!
The hula shirt fits the car.
Lol, right???
Soooooooo fucking CLEAN. WOW
Thanks!!

I agree! There are some cars on the road today that I love, but the overall style is gone.
I remember these when they were new. They have a longer wheelbase and longer overall length than the conventional Cutlass wagon.
Yes, and this thing drives amazing!

A few even had a 455 engine.

This car always reminds of That 70's Show. That was a 69, I think.

I'm looking for one of these or a Malibu wagon to restore with my children.

"I don't see any seat belts back here" The camera slowly pans down to show the seat belts. LOL
Lol, not in the very back seat!
@@christianbugatticg Okay, what are those seat belt looking things coming out from under the third row seat at 0:27?
Those are the straps that you pull on to retract and open the seats. I can assure you there are no seatbelts back there. Lol @@edjonatchick

You didn't see the seat belts that were right below you?
Those are not seat belts, those are straps to pull the seats.
you were sitting on the third row seat seatbelts - Oldsmobile called the roof the “Vista Roof” I completely disagree concerning your safety comments
You think? Maybe I am wrong.
Ummm…those look like safety belts right there underneath him. I’m sure they weren’t the best, though!
LOL, yeah not the safest cars on the road!!
rare vinyl roof

Lol!!
You say there is no seat belts, yet they are hanging behind your shins.
Those are not seatbelts. Those are the belt loops to pull the rear seat up and down

That interior is a deal breaker. Not original or original appearing.
You mean just the seats?? It's ok if you don't like it. The previous owner did some personal touches. Thanks!
