About character dubbing...can be very tough, especially if the character in an animated series was well defined by the original voice actor. Take for example Lynn Minmay in the Macross anime series (1982-1983) who was voiced by Mari Iijima (now a professional musician). Her Minmay portrayal is so stylized from the dramatic stuff to the character's singing. Anyone hired to portray Minmay in another language version of the Macross series will eventually be compared with Mari Iijima.

Yes, I agree! Thats why those who get into this category are really good. They should be as good as the previous actor if not better. But comparison is expected in this industry. You just have to know that you can bring something fresh to the table.

Remember Hollywood actress Alison Lohman? She voiced Japan's iconic Princess Nausicaa in English in the classic anime movie Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Lohman however is not the first English voice actress of the titular character...someone else did before her when the said movie was released, butchered and retitled in 1985 as Warriors of the Wind. Moreover, Princess Nausicaa was renamed in the 1985 version as Princess Sandra.

We were just talking about the Voice over / dub actors of Anime show, like My Hero Academiá 😊 we were curious, so we had to look them up to see how they look like, as their portrayed character. It’s funny that they don’t look anything like their character but sound like their character.😁 so interesting and kind of fun!

Hi Hundo! Narration is such a wide scope that you can also approach it in levels. Like starting with simple short ads all the way to TV or radio commercials. As for news, the only way to get into that is maybe podcasting or live streaming on UA-cam. Or go old school become an anchor in News program on TV or radio. Good luck!

I really love all your videos Ms. Anna!💜 I think my niche would be "narration" and "IVR". I will practice and audition soon. Ask ko lng po, aside sa Fiverr, san po pwde mag audition/have someone hire me for IVRs/Narration niche po? When I was young po I used to mimic voice overs from commercials and IVRs lalo sa Jollibee. So since nkpagdecide na po ako na magshift na sa voice acting career khit paunti-unti lng muna, gusto ko po magstart sa 2 niche po na yun. Hopefully one day, marinig ko boses ko sa TV & online and radio ads. San po bang website/platform pwde mkpag-audition pra sa TV commercials & online/radio ads po specifically? So I can work on my skills & pra alam ko na rin po direction ko sa career po na ito. I really want to pursue this career shift khit paunti-unti. This pandemic made me realize that since life is short, I should do what I wanna do in life so I have decided to shift careers. I'm ready to start small then hopefully one day, maging full-time profession/career ko po ito. IThank you!💜💜💜

    • @annabuena

That’s good that you know what you want to do now. The best platform online for me for beginners is really Fiverr. If you want to practice and hone your skill, thats the best place. As for TV and radio ads, usually they ask you to audition. You need to make a demo reel and submit it to post production houses, so they can put you in their pool of talents. Or have an agent. But before you do that, get your feet wet first. Get clients in Fiverr and learn.
