I have written 10 books and I find it challenging to get my book put into audio form through acx I want to get at least one of them up on audio books before the end of the year I would love to hire you for narration
Hello. Thanks for asking. I actually posted a video last week where I shared that I won't be doing audiobooks at this point. But, I constantly get messages from people that are looking to narrate. Feel free to share a link to your ACX listings here so people can audition. Or email me and I can help post your listings on my platforms. Let's get your books done! 💖
I'll audition. I'm a professional teacher and all I do is teach HS and it must be engaging. Currently I'm teaching Zoom classes over 4 campuses. If anyone wants a voice sample or short audition for your book let me know!! 🙂
JT fellow UA-cam sent me to you, and I'm glad he did. THANKS so much for doing all that you do and for sharing what you share. Me and my family appreciate you so much.
How hard is it for a newbie? What should I say for Professional Summary? Unsure, but still motivated to pursue this opportunity! Curious though being that I've never done any voice over work or acting, however, I have always wanted to break into this industry. Any tips on writing a good Professional Summary with no experience?
Hi Sharon. There’s definitely a learning curve. It’s easier for some than others. Regarding the professional summary, everyone should have one. It’s one of things I teach exclusively my course that’s linked above.
Good to know there are alternatives to acx. I will pass this on to the voiceovers i work with 👍As someone who produces audiobooks, I find Acx requirements a big pain, sorry to say. I mean, who uses RMS in 2022. Also, the online system is a bit flakey in my experience.

Hi Nikki, #1 thing is Super Duper Congrats to YOU for your climbing success on UA-cam. I am just discovering your videos about audiobooks because that is my personal interest...then I saw that you were DealFindingDiva in the past. Well, you sure did help me find the deal I want! to learn more about. This video is one of the best reviews I have seen for the subject. Thank for explaining the details about each platform. Would you please make a video on publishing?
Thank you so much!! You are so kind. To be clear, is do you want more about publishing as an author or production as a narrator? I have been on the narration side of it, so I have plenty of info on that. While I do have more audiobook narration content coming, I do have other videos in the audiobook narration playlist that talk about production. It can be found at: ua-cam.com/play/PLVtZhIoBI0R_KmRA1IY7EkO3ezj3qJTHK.html I give the most in-depth demos and assist students 1-on-1 in my Audiobook Blueprint course: audiobook-blueprint.thinkific.com/ Again, I have more coming soon, but I hope this helps! 😊
Great question. While they do offer post-production services for people that need production done, it's my understanding that the artist would be responsible for their own production. So, it would require the hiring of another professional if production is needed. Production is expensive, which is why I teach it in my Audiobook Blueprint course. Once you have that skill, it's another money-maker. The course is linked in the description if you're interested. Thanks for watching! 💖
Thanks for the info. I surprised myself when I enjoyed role playing in graduate school. I followed up with a course in voiceover acting and one in stage acting just to see what possibilities were out there. This was before internet recording was available. I never got past shyness or having to pay a lot for a big city studio to record a demo. So maybe it's time to take the next step and see what I can do. I did record a 9-page reading for a friend's therapy group. They liked it. But how do you keep going without having 20 do-overs to get it right?
Hey Lynn! To answer your question, it still takes me many retakes and do-overs. Of course, the more I do it, the less mistakes I make. But it's part of the process. The money keeps me motivated. 😉 Really though, no matter how many mistakes I make, I keep in mind that once it's done, I won't have to do the hard work anymore, and can collect my checks for years to come. From your story, it sounds like you have a calling. Listen to that. You may or may not end up liking it, but if you don't go for it, you never know. Have you signed up for any of the narration platforms yet?
Thank you! I bought my desk from Wayfair, and tried to find the direct link for you. Unfortunately, it's appears that it's no longer being made. I also tried to find it in other places online with no luck. But in case you want to try to find it, it's the Ballantyne Computer Desk by Orren Ellis. 😊
hi nikki. i have a macbook pro. with that, do you think there's a way around recording an audiobook/audition with a laptop that has the fan making noise? or would i just have to invest into a macbook air/desktop? =/
Hello Jay. Honestly, a fan blowing would likely negatively affect the listener’s experience. While I’m a Mac lover too, unless it’s within your budget to get another one, don’t. There are many affordable laptop/desktop options out there that would allow you to record. (Audacity is my go-to software, and it’s free). If you need some ideas, I do have some suggestions on my Amazon page. www.amazon.com/shop/nikki4real And don’t forget my free class linked in the description for more helpful info to help you get started. Thanks for watching. And I’m hoping for the best for ya. 😊
@@NikkiConnected okay, thanks! i have audacity on an external drive, which doesn’t sound as loud as the fan on the mac, & just moved it away from the mic as far as i could, & that worked. but i also have an HP laptop as well. i’ll see if no sound comes from it at all-which would be better (haven’t used it in a while so i couldn’t remember if it has fan sound or not lol) thanks again!

For submitting auditions or test audio, can you use a phone or laptop microphone, or do you need an audio recording microphone and an analog/digital interface?

Great info thx! When you say some companies want you to do the producing if the audio book are you referring to the final edit? It’d be great to just give them a professional read and let them to the edits. Please advise thx!!!
Hello. That's correct. Production is creating the final edit and sound arrangements. Some companies will do it for you, but as explained in the video, that would cost money. I hope this helps! 😊

Hi, am not into narrating but an look for platform that can produce the audiobook for me, am not able to sign up for ACX because of my location, as well as a reasonable prices for producing the book.
Hi thanks for the video!! I'm looking into freelancing and this is a good contender alongside copywriting. Would you say the market is oversaturated for audiobooks or is there still a lot of work on sites like ACX?
Typically, there are thousands of audiobooks available to be read. I wouldn’t consider that oversaturated. Especially since I know that most people that want to do it, make no effort to do so. More opportunities for the go-getters. 💯
Hello. I’m not in Jamaica, so I wouldn’t be able to verify. I suggest trying the links and seeing if they work, or research for similar options in your area. Best of luck.
Thank you for all of your wonderful information!! Do you know if I can use the retail audio samples from books I completed on ACX as my samples on the other webistes?

Thanks! I appreciate you for watching and for taking the time to comment. 😊
Where to find sample to narrate and upload as a voice sample? Please guide!
Hello. While this video is not an ACX video, my audiobook narration playlist has newer and more relevant videos to answer this question. Plus, my free audiobook narration masterclass can also clarify. It’s linked in the description.
@@NikkiConnected Okay ma'am thank you so much:)
@@NikkiConnected Thanks so much Nikki! I’m starting to build a home studio and used to do V.O’s in clients’ pro studios. I have a Mac at home and think I’ll start slow with Garage Band. Thanks again. I liked and follow you now!
Can I use textspeech app for audio book narration??
No
Thank you so much for this informative video. 😊
Hi Cindy! You’re so welcome. I appreciate the feedback. 😊
Do you have any recommendations of some recording and editing software?
Hello. It's covered in this video: ua-cam.com/video/y1XemmQ3bfM/v-deo.html
I am worried about the ACX editing requirements how did you deal with that did you come across any major barriers I would hate to go through all of that just for them to reject the book. how did you deal ? much appreciated. love your channel d !!
Hey! I did a lot of googling and research to overcome issues.
But, stay tuned, I’ll be giving you all some more helpful ACX content soon. 😉
You need training in Audacity software. May take you about 4 days to learn how to edit properly.
Look into Susan Fouche's acx vids.
thank you Queen!!
No problem! Thanks for watching! ☺️
Thanks very informative video!
Im so glad you like it! Thanks for the feedback! ☺️
Hi, am not into narrating but an look for platform that can produce the audiobook for me, am not able to sign up for ACX because of my location, as well as a reasonable prices for producing the book.
Hello, thank you for a very useful video. Do I choose the book on these sites to read? Or do I wait for the author to make my choice?
Hey! I give the full rundown in this newer video: ua-cam.com/video/ucc1742uMio/v-deo.html
@@NikkiConnected thank you very much
Do you any sugesstion on where to learn or a guide on the actual production process? Editing words, eliminating out of place sounds...
Hi Melissa. That’s covered in my Audiobook Blueprint course that’s linked in the description. Thanks for watching! 💖
Is it normal to charge $200 per finished hour?
You are so beautiful! Million dollar smile girl 😁 Thanks for this info
You’re awesome! Thanks for showing me luv. 😊
Hey ! I just got linked to ACX and ive picked out a book but how do i start recording my voice ?
New sub btw 💓
look at the videos on A VO's Journey. Vids on ACX and other VO.
Thanks Doll!
Aww! You're welcome, Love. 💖
thanks Nikki
You’re so welcome! Thanks for watching.😊
i was looking for your book Little Red Writer and I cannot find it. Is it on Amazon? What is your voice name?
Hello! Thanks for your interest. All of my books are linked in the description. 💖
@@NikkiConnected ok. I went to the description but don't see any books listed. I will take another look and hopefully be able to support you.
amazing thank you also keep up the great work!
No problem. Thanks for watching! 😁
Hi niki I live in Jamaica what can I use?
Great thinking! You absolutely can unless the author takes issue with it. But that’s very rare for that to happen.
Thanks for watching. And for the great question. 💖
@@NikkiConnected ❤
Heard alot about ACX and went to check it out and it appears do be down (not working). Is that an error on my end?
Maybe try later.
@@NikkiConnected Thank You!!! I'm good to go now.
Do you have any recommendations sites that will allow people to make record their voice and change the format to mp3 for free?
I use Audacity.
