- ORGAN HUNTING in the Netherlands
Postlude
Sietze de Vries & Sander Booij improvise variations on "Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten" at three different organs in the home of Sietze and Sonja de Vries, Groningen.
The organ on the far right is the newest addition to the collection and Sander, who is an organ builder and voicer, has been voicing it in the recent weeks. It is a rather special instrument, built by aeroplane engineer Johan Timmerman, who used many unconventional parts for the organ, such as parachute cloth instead of goat skin for the bellows and kerosene gauging rods for mechanical purposes. The pipes are also fairly diverse. Johan Timmerman himself had already succeeded in turning it into something quite decent before Sander started to voice it. The mean tone temperament was applied to the organ just before the inauguration, which took place February 15, 2020.

What Sietze has created with his church house is incredible! I'll never forget walking through the space when he first bought it. He and Sonja were truly visionary to have taken it from that place to what it is today! Fun to hear the collaborative improvisation as well!
I am speechless.... thanks!
Beautiful, sensitive playing. Wonderful instruments....what a joy to sit, to listen and to immerse oneself in such mellow and mellifluous music !
Mooi gedaan!
