I feel very uncomfortable not having mentioned this in the video, but it is extremely important to note... Any trauma to the head is bad for your brain. However, there requires a certain level of realism with your training if you are preparing for a real fight. In order to override the flinch and learn how to properly brace for/absorb impact, the threat must heighten your nervous system (i.e. a ball moving towards your face). Just know that your brain should NOT be bouncing around in your skull -- that is very dangerous for potential TBI (traumatic brain injuries), and should be avoided as much as possible. Stay safe everybody 🙏
This is in the least preffered scenario like you said, the contact is gonna be made regardless ,the only thing to do is minimize the damage. Its not like anyone should train to eat punches since thats a career to Parkinson
Just came back from an Icy Mike seminar and was watching my tape and saw my chin lifting a lot. Then this comes out. Thanks so much coach honestly can't thank you for how many of your tips have helped fill in my game since highschool (2012ish) all the way up till now.
You are an incredibly talented fighter who knows how to teach as well. I've been training Muay Thai for fifteen years and Recently got into teaching as well. I've been using your fight tips in my lessons because you have a unique talent for explaining things that I've learned but are hard to teach others. Just wanted to thank you.
Thank you. I am about 3 months into boxing training and I notice my chin slowly drift upwards in my padwork. Will focus a bit more on the corners of my head.
Shane uses a tiny ball to do his drill Me having a long-ass alligator sized jaw: -Nah, this ain't gonna work Me when Shane pick a huge gray ball to do his next drill: -Oh! for me? 🥺👉👈
Dude ¿Can you make a tutorial of Canelo's head movement? Bc is not like the normal head movement, if you pay attention to Canelo's movement, he never bend his legs and he evade the punche with very very short head movement.
if your oppnent suddenly slap or punches you ,then how will you handle yourself mently?although you are skilled in taking down your opponent waiting for your answer
I’ve never heard this distinction made between tucking the chin vs pointing the corner of the head to deflect blows. I do it though. I think of it as goat-fu. Point your horn at the threat.
I hate to use a movie as reference, but if you’ve ever seen the remake of gone in 60 seconds, where they get into the fight outside of a bar, Vinny Jones drops his head and takes a punch right on the crown, most likely breaking the guys hand. I know that’s Hollywood, but I always thought it was an interesting approach, not dodging it, but just using that durable part of the skull to injure his opponent, without an actual head butt. Never seen that another time in a movie ever I don’t think. May be a Jason Statham movie that I forgot about…?
Thank you sir. Something interesting I saw on a clip about old time boxing, that your skull is connected on top at a point in the center. You can feel it. I believe it's from 3 separate sections of skull. They can punch there and produce a knockout. Look at George Chuvalo Vs. Jerry Quarry is an example. I could be wrong but it's interesting.
To whoever reads this, I hope you have a wonderful day and no matter what stay happy as that is what matters most in life, You are truly amazing and no one can ever take that away from you, Be happy and enjoy life, We don't have long on earth so make the most of it, We’re all gonna make it brah 👑
CTE is a very valid and serious concern of mine. However, the density if exercise balls are so soft, that your brain should not be accellerating/decelerating enough to cause any trauma. If it is, then do NOT do this drill.

One of the best examples of armoured forehead was, the great Marvelous Marvin Hagler.. he was literally wearing a built in helmet
