What do you think?

This just sounds like metal arab market music.
Bro I'm crying 😂
Phrygian rules🤘😆
Hahahahahaha
I thought same
I visited a friend’s place last week and he was practicing on his guitar it sounded like classical Spanish guitar and that’s what I thought. “Actually it’s Slayer” Then I found out his amp was broken so he couldn’t use distortion.
These melodies often sound Middle Eastern with the occasional foray in Spanish
I love that
Phyrigian Dominant mode.
a lot of metal focuses on the flat second note (typically denoting the phrygian mode) which is a very middle eastern sounds scale. Sound badass
and a little bit of folk too
aquatic rhombus it’s like the middle of holy wars
So basically, American marines and arab militias listen to distorted/undistorted versions of the same music.
Troo kvlt bois is just distorted surfer boi music
All music comes from satan. Killing each other is what it's all about. You put your left hand in, you pull your left hand out

This was dope
Definitely not that Marines listen to

Long answer: Yes
Long answer should be yeah
@@BLAZEVENTURA904 YeeEeeah
Hey, its you
Yeeeeessssss
Bingo!
When you want to play metal downstairs but your grandparents are visiting
@Email Siapa aja boleh Another plot twist: The grandparents play in a trash band without distortion.
You should always practice without distortion and gain turned down. Try that and see how clean your playing gets, no pun intended.
Plot twist: you are the grandparents
Another Plot twist: you're grandparents are virgins. Your life is a lie
Plot twist: its your grandparents not you're grandparents.
And they probably headbang twice as hard in their no distortion thrash band
This dude looks like Chuck Schuldiner and Peter Steele had a child together.
Fact
Lars's wig? Ur here too? I see u everywhere haha
@@dhruvlevel9641 I hope I'm not as annoying as that Ray Mak dude
@@larsswig912 no its not annoying
And Jery Garcia to an extent.....
The whole thing sounds like the intro to a thrash metal song.
😂 6 min intro? I don't think thrash has that short of intros.
And it's just the length of a thrash metal intro
This intro is longer than the entire discography of 94,73% of the goregrind bands which started in 1994.
Grindcore*
I really hope the "without distortion" becomes a series.
subscribed in hopes of this type of thing becoming a series
You can search this kind of videos within UA-cam. There's a lot of it, i swear :)
Went to his channel to see if he did a death metal distortion, specifically for Death and boom it was right there. Perfect
Tool without distortion
Agree
Thrash Metal is a complex style, and the melodies sound good without distortion. But.... the distortion is energy, is power, and we enjoy it much much much much more.
but also this guitar is covered with some phase or flange effect which steals all the treble , i think this is energy sapping . i take your point btw, but i think a strat through a clean valve amp would be halfway there .great playing still
susiv exactly! Best answer
If thrash is complex then Cuties is the best movie from 2020
@@Sattylites Thrash is the best in all ages, not only in 2020 😝
overdrive?
What you’re sayin is that thrash metal without distortion is just flamenco?

Bruh inagine Flamenco with distortion

A l w a y s h a s b e e n
@Dog it will probably sound like THRASH.....sorry
Regardless of how much this sounds like a distressed insect in flight across the moroccan desert. It seems like a good idea to practice these songs without distortion just because of how much distortion can hide poor technique. This guy is playing these parts flawlessly. The clean tone wouldn't let you hide behind aggression and force, you have to play it right.
100% agree with you
Absolutely agree with you! He crushes every note clearly! Maybe he should try different tones and filters too?! That would rock!
I'll never stop hiding behind my metal zone pedal......
What? It sounds awesome
Depends on the amp/setup while some amps hide your mistakes others highlight them and I think its very important to play it first with high gain and then play with a clean tone because you dont really have to think much about muting strings and noise control when youre playing with low gain
This dude looks like some kind of god-prince in a fantasy world
This takes me back to the 1400s when bards would shred
Ah yes, way back ... I too remember those days... 😅
@@jasonjohnson4302 I miss the old days when Europe was the barbaric continent.. Lol
Lol, how old are you? 🤣
Lol so you just remember that like it was yesterday?
Bahaha, fucking gold!
Plot twist: just think of how many eventually distorted riffs were actually created noodling around unplugged on the couch.
That is usually the truth of it.
I wrote most of my first Black Metal album on acoustic guitar
Every riff I have wrote is written that way pretty much
That’s about as organic as music making gets tbh... Or sometimes a riff comes to you when you’re nowhere near an instrument (which sucks because you wind up forgetting it unless you hum it into your video recorder on the phone)
@@bledfordays3930 same man or i mess up trying to play something of mine and the fuck up sounds better then the original riff i was attempting lmao
when mom doesn't want you playing heavy metal anymore
Thats gonna be my mom soon, once i learn to play again i will do nothing but play Iron Maiden, death, Metallica, slayer and megadeth and many more 24/7 to the point that she will scream at me and threaten to take away the guitar
*when your arab mom doesn't like you play metal instead you play it undistorted lol
update, my dad wants me to get headphones now, but I have an amp head without a headphone out. I am now asking for a mark V 35 amp head 🤘
Who says u can't play metal? Metal doesn't have to have distortion 😂
he looks a lot like Peter Steele
Luke Dolfine not really
peter steele+chuck schuldiner+david ellefson
Only vegetarian
Yes, he does! I was just going to comment that.
Totally looks like a young Pete Steele. Just add the "fangs" and grab a bass!
There's Pete!
I Was thinking the same
They all sound like Death songs.
maybe cuz he looks like Chuck
A slightly prettier chuck
@@nayrtnartsipacify Chuck was beautiful. They both are
YES
I was thinking the same.
The lack of distortion really highlights out the Phrygian mode
The clean Sepultura sounds like it was written by Opeth
Remind-me Hope Leaves and tristram from diablo game
nailed it
Also sounds like he couldn't decide if he wanted to play Call of Ktulu or Close My Eyes Forever.
Edit- the first 8 notes pretty much is the Call of Ktulu and the rest pretty much is Close My Eyes Forever.
Sounds like My arms your hearse phase
Yes Diablo and also Ktulu which also reminds me of Diablo
I know this is weird, but you have a very similar nose to Chuck Schuldiner
I knew he reminded me of someone, thank you
Exactly , first time seeing him playing and reminded me of chuck
Same dude
i think he looks like Peter Steele
@@jumbobagginsjellogo4475 yeeaaah, he actually does!
I must say he looks and feels a lot like Chuck Schuldiner
i know right
Yea like seriously
Your playing is so clean I could have my dinner on it.
Snakes are totally digging this in their baskets...
bro you're literally beautiful and im straight
how do you get hair like that!!! i need that
Not anymore
I got some news for you...
Sigh I don’t think you know..
He looks like an elf
4:05 Call of Ktulu 😉
That does sound a lot like that opening
No...beneath the remains...
Yeah it's the same first chord, one of my favorite chords.
Nate Gin he knows its Beneath The Remains it just sounds similsr yo Call Of Ktulu
Sounds more like Ozzy and Lita Ford - Close my Eyes
Honestly, this without distortion just sounds like something straight out of the Diablo series. Also, you played so well I started to look at other things - and now I can´t unsee your pinkie finger. It´s like someone´s bending it by a string an entire neck bar to the side. Awesome!
Fuck yeah dude badass
lol yea its like a diablo soundtrack
Khomaniac - Atillery (1:26 - 2:40)
mine too
His guitar tone makes it very very pretty.
Artillery*. By inheritance album is the best album of thrash metal for me with almost all of megadeth albums
I always tell my nephew to listen something he doesn't like without distortion. We can learn a lot on clean.
also in the daw if you are using plug in amps, turn off the distortion to really hear how clean or sloppy your playing is, for me an ear opening experience, and demoralizing, but an opportunity to improve.......
Then you pump him in the shower and have a snack.
@InspektahVyle
Haha
@@AZ-kr6ff Keep talkin like that, you’re gonna be the one getting pumped in the prison showers
@@Jorge_R762
That's unlikely.
Sounds like middle eastern music honestly. All the songs you chose seem to heavily rely on phrygian dominant/harmonic minor. Really clean playing too btw \m/
*_HOLY WAAAAAAAAAARS!!!_*
Here's an idea: add distortion to Ouds. Bet its going to sound like any thrash metal song.
MEGADETH. I want to hear this version of Megadeth - Holy Wars, Tornado, Hangar 18, to name a few.
Lucretia
Dystopia
Polaris.
There is a guy that covered a lot of megadeth undistorded.. His name is Rudy Ayoub
Rudy ayoub
Sounds like a spanish caballero fighting against an army of persian soldiers
Sounds like Death.
Edit:Holy shit, thanks for the likes my fellow brothers and sisters in metal.
Was looking for this comment.
It all sounds like death
Matt Gandy That is what I meant by it.
METAL4 LIFE it really does, and thank you.
That's because of the harmonic minor melodies
Metal girls want him and metal guys wanna be him.
I bet some guys want him as well
@Dog mood.
I think that both want him and wanna be him.
The hair looks like a rock star from the 1980s, or a warrior from the Middle Ages.
@No Thanks Hahaha Nice
But personally, I find it ridiculous that every metalhead has to keep his hair long. I think it's a bit tacky.
Your eyes are hypnotizing and I'm not sure how I should feel about it. lol
Being gay isn't bad, keep it going
I love the way you play and I love the way metal sounds without distortion. I am going to subscribe in case you post something amazing once again.
Same
I’m digging it too
I wonder would middle eastern music, with some Spanish thrown in, played with heavy distortion become thrash metal?
Prog? If they stick to the groove
Middle Eastern music doesn't sound like this... This is the Disney variant of ancient Arabian music.
Listen last album of Igorrr
it would become Nile
Listen to Orphaned Land - Mabool
Beneath the remains sounds like Call of Cthulu’s cousin
No doubt they took massive influence from Metallica.
It's the same chord at the beginning
You're clean sound is really good man! I'd love to see some more of this type of content (playing metal without distortion). I think this content is showing the beauty of metal and just how nuanced it really is. I've shown some of your content to people who don't listen to metal and it blows them away. Keep up the awesome work man!
When you're looking at the camera is like that you're looking through my soul
Came for the long hair, stayed for that sepultura clean sound
Well heavy metal predates distortion, well electricity if we are honest. I mean Paganini, Bach, Mozart, Barrios, I could go on but what would be the point of that? Heavy metal has sounded good since ages before it was named.
Some Classical music composers were really metal musicians
Bach for example
He just needed distortion man
@@artinrahideh1229 Bach did NOT need distortion.
What’s the exact connection between classical and metal?
@@inthestorm2002 rather than ask someone to explain it why not just listen. Check out Paganini, he wrote a number of caprices, my favorite is Caprice 24. Also some pre electric headbangers were Mozart and Bach. Then listen to some metal guitarists like Alex Skolnik, John Petrucci, and Herman Li. I guess the connection is the application of music theory and being bored singing and playing the same tired old tunes decade after decade, so they did something different and we liked it?
This is magnificent. I want an entire album of covers & medleys without distortion!
If Peter Steele and Chuck Schuldiner birthed a metal demigod
EXACTLY 😃👏
Maybe, Peter Steele and Joan Jett... Or Doro Pesch
This sounds like someone was raised on surf rock, then decided to invent a new genre.
Its no surprise surf guitar legend Dick Dale was considered proto metal.
@@Vliegmans And to bring it full circle, Dick Dale is Lebanese and his tremolo picking was in imitation of playing the oud.
To play this tight on a clean tone is absolutely outstanding🤘
Caraaaaalhooo maaanoo!
The cleanest picking I've heard. At least he's proved he can actually play consicely.
Short answer: If the riff is good, then yes.
Your playing is excellent. Thank you for posting these videos
I showed this to a friend and they asked “why can’t it always sound like this? Why all the yelling, crashing drums?”
I asked him if he would listen to this if there was no yelling or loud blasting drums, and he said no.
I told him that’s exactly why.
Would be a good build up wouldn't it tho start like this and then phase in the crush
@@DevinJuularValentine Absolutely, it would make for a really good intro, especially because this is thrash metal.
You're so incredibly smart, dude.
I'd listen
as much as i like distortion, this weirdly sounds better
Sounds like Spanish acoustic music. Brilliant!
Amazing playing! Crazy articulation.
Congrats Leonardo. Very nice!
that sepultura solo gives me serious Diablo vibes, parabéns irmão!

Great playing and great song choices
Trace the history of music, the root of it all appears to originate from the deserts of desolation.
Nice! You really have a good picking technic on those fast tremolo parts !
You too holmes...
Truly nice work. Keep on rockin man
This video has to be one of the best ideas ever. I always come back here to rewatch this. Incredible.
I especially enjoy that you didn’t add some drums in the background, I feel that would killed the vibe. this is awesome, great playing dude! also, you look like chuck 🤔

It’s still THRASH, even without distortion, riffs sounds so great
First of all, you are totally skillful which makes this video flawless. And yes, trash metal can sounds awesome without distortion
Dude that was AWESOME. LOL I am just learning to play and I am saving this to learn with.
fantastic eye brow work
Why this was a question that needed to be asked, or was ever even doubted is jaw dropping to me. Reason number 1,237 why all metal can be turned into classical music so easily.
Its already beautiful.
That part of over the wall is one of my favorite of any thrash songs
ok you literally opened with one of my favorite thrash riffs of all time. this kicks ass. keep kicking ass.
All great song choices to showcase! Love each song here and the original! Great work :)
The next time that I hear someone saying Metal is not good music, I will show this video.
do you mind sharing your hair care routine? that hair is MAJESTIC
Quit washing it so much and oil it, after showering, instead of using conditioner.

If you dye and treat, you shouldn't even bother. You're already disrespecting the shit outta your hair.

Sounds really cool! I was expecting at first fast palmute in clean everywhere which usually sounds funny, so thanks for adapting it and for the song choices!
This was super cool.
Shared it with my thrash-loving, guitar-playing 16yo. He has recently expressed interest in learning other guitar styles and techniques to help elevate his own playing and songwriting skills, and this really illustrates some of the discussions we've had about classical and world music progressions influencing the progressions used in metal.
