Playing King Crimson's Red and Rainbow's Man on the Silver Mountain for this type of video would automatically result in an instant like from me. Otherwise, some very interesting and quite unexpected choices!
The battery riff is without a doubt my favourite riff ever. Something about it is just so damn satisfying to hear. Also, you are one of the most entertaining guitarists to watch. Loved the video. Haha.
Literally a crime to not include anything from ride the lightning or painkiller; both revolutionary albums in thrash and heavy metal. I do appreciate the inclusion of Sabaton, which somehow never makes it into lists like these despite being one of the most popular modern metal bands.
@@matteodotdpsatgmaildotcom2451 I’ll admit the song structure has been pretty repetitive in recent albums, but some of their older albums like Primo Victoria and Coat of Arms are fantastic as traditional metal albums. I wish everyone was this respectful on YT!
I love the 80's and 2000's riffs personally. Then Again the Late 90's and Early 2000's I discovered Metal. I fell in love with Ozzy and Metallica and discovering the new stuff at the time.
I agree with that, but I think it's kinda their fault for not doing practically anything to connect with people. If you check their social media it only consists in posting tour dates and merch while other bands share a lot of content with people. It's almost as if they wanted to stay low
Pretty cool to see children of bodom on here! Actually my introduction to metal when I got into a concert of theirs for free on accident. Never listened to any metal before but it was a life changing experience. Been listening to it since!
It looks like at some point in the mid-2000s, all the metal bands discovered 7-string guitars and the riffs dropped down a fifth!
For the better. If metal doesn't make me shit my pants from a brown note, what's the point?
Morgan Aubin I second this.
Trey azagthoth was using 7 strings back in the early 90s
Korn has been using djent instruments since the beginning

Any list with man on the silver mountain is fine by me
I actually paused the video to sing the full song
Playing King Crimson's Red and Rainbow's Man on the Silver Mountain for this type of video would automatically result in an instant like from me.
Otherwise, some very interesting and quite unexpected choices!
The most underrated comment broo
Rainbow and KC the best!
But they aren't metal
@@user-tk2jy8xr8b но они все равно крутые!

@@user-tk2jy8xr8b you do t know what metal is
Kirisute Gomem.... I see you are a man of culture as well
Seeing scar symmetry being included on this made me so happy. One of my all time favorites!
Per Nillson is the most underrated, slept on guitarist and songwriter out there. It's crazy how few people know of them

I like that
@@kyrpakalle5922 crazy
Replaced by a better song; SBS followed by an even better song. Red.
@@kyrpakalle5922 still wrong
I’m 57 y.o. 1970-1990 has the riffage that takes me back and is what resonates with me the most. Thanks for putting some Extreme in here too.
The 90’s. Death, Emperor, Satyricon as I see it the 90’s was a metal renaissance. So many great bands so many great albums across the board. 🔥🤘🔥
Woooah nice including Annihilator, I wasn't expecting that! Such an underrated song.
Always learn a new riff with these videos! You rock! 🤘
Nobody:...
Dio :WE ROCK!! *add epic metal* \m/
@@BradleyHallGuitar Thank you so much my man!
@@emanuelepertile7648 Dio is quite the Rock Master!
I’m so happy that you include UFO! Michael Schenker is just amazing!
Holy crap when I heard valley of the damned I was actually shocked. One of dragonforces most underrated songs and probably my favorite of theirs.
Dude your taste and playing is fantastic! These are already some of my favorite metal songs and you’ve just reminded me!
So glad to see a song like Kirisute Gomen in this list!
I just broke my E string and dont have more
That is my biggest fear this quarantine so I'm sliding instead of bending
Same
Fuck man same thing happened to me on my explorer. Luckily I have a strat too but I love my explorer and can't play it.
I broke 3 of my strings at once now I can't play
@@Gabi_Braun Condolence 😔
This dudes a beast! Nailed all those riffs.
I’d say Megadeth and Metallica should have deserved some more rifts. They had a lot of good ones and the …And Justice For All album is damn good also
there s not a single metallica song in there the fuck? XD
@@serlucian9155 3:12 battery
Symphony of Destruction deserved to be on here.
Every band on here has one song. Why should they have more? Classic fanboys😂 maybe listen to more bands
Everyone knows Megadeth and Metallica riffs, no need to add them.
That steal away the night riff looked pretty damn hard to play gotta love Randy Rhoads
Ahh, that period with Satyricon and Emperor at their prime... A glorious time for metal.
The fact that holy wars wasn’t the 1990 riff triggers me but he made up for it with skin o my teeth
Kvelertak was my album of the year for 2020. Non-stop excellence.
The Satyricon - Emperor moment had me going way back in time. miss those BM days...
awww. you can't BM anymore? that sux man
It all starts with the Sabs!!!! Killer work man.
Pretty nice to see Kvelertak getting a bit of love!
This checked so many boxes for me. Happy to be a new subscriber!
Two rainbow riffs, instant like!
!!!!\m/!!!!
The battery riff is without a doubt my favourite riff ever. Something about it is just so damn satisfying to hear.
Also, you are one of the most entertaining guitarists to watch. Loved the video. Haha.
I'm so happy he included testament, exodus, and annihilator
Amazing effort put into these
I love how you encompassed as many relevant sub genres of metal as possible.. This is very nicely done..
*it's a Tool song*
Well time to look at my sheet music
Silly goose, those are tabs. Everyone knows guitar players cant read sheet music.
@@orangeapple681 people say the same thing about us drummers ;-;
Great great video! Song selection is spot on! Great job and some damn fine shredding sir!
Literally a crime to not include anything from ride the lightning or painkiller; both revolutionary albums in thrash and heavy metal. I do appreciate the inclusion of Sabaton, which somehow never makes it into lists like these despite being one of the most popular modern metal bands.
And UFO over Sad Wings of Destiny lol
They never do because their song structure is so pop-ish people are afraid to like them lol
@@matteodotdpsatgmaildotcom2451 I’ll admit the song structure has been pretty repetitive in recent albums, but some of their older albums like Primo Victoria and Coat of Arms are fantastic as traditional metal albums. Not to say their newer stuff is bad, I love it personally, but I see how some people could find it annoying.
because sabaton fucking sucks lol
@@adenriff330 my homie, everyone has an opinion on music, but based on your comment I can almost guarantee you listen to pure trash, stfu and go be a toxic basement dweller somewhere else
The video was amazing! I was expecting some doom metal in the early 00's, but thinking about it, doom is more like a mood setting than a riff extravaganza. I don't know if was on purpose, but the YT ads was placed in the end of the video. This was very respectful and because of this, I watched both ads to help the channel. I wish everyone was this respectful on YT!
3:33 When you realize Into the Pit by Testament is basically the same riff as the intro to Laid to Rest
Doug Payne Def some influence
I hate that lol
And chimera was influenced by the very next riff
They are Testament fans so it makes sense.
I had the exact same thought Dougie
Brill vid! You are an amazing musician and I loved your selection! Holy Diver and necrophagist’s Stabwound were highlights for me😎 excellent work sir!
Nice work. Love the Ibanez BTW 👍
very good classic metal riffs. Reason why I got hooked to metal
notice how different the Meshuggah riff was.
Great selection, great tone and excellent playing. Thanks
Loved every riff! Got some new songs to listen to now 🤘🏼
"Balls to the Wall" would have been a good one to have in there.
Didn't know YYZ was considered metal (of its time). This is refreshing. Oh, Evil Eyes should be picked for Dio, it's faster and louder IMO.
well neil peart is better than most metal drummers imo
Thank you for having Lights Out! Super underrated song
So glad you featured "lights out" by UFO,that song is so fucking cool sounding
I love the 80's and 2000's riffs personally. Then Again the Late 90's and Early 2000's I discovered Metal. I fell in love with Ozzy and Metallica and discovering the new stuff at the time.
8:30 now we know what his favorite riff is.
Best riff in the whole video imo
I don't listen to Mastodon but that is a killer riff
1970s: nice
2000s to present: *H E A V Y*
2030 : Heavy Forever...!!!!
Showed up to watch some riffs, stayed to see if you would hit your monitor with your guitar.
surprised at some of your choices.
Great video.
2:52 oh i love that Venom’s Welcome to Hell riff
8:10 my right wrist hurts seeing this
Very well made.Thanks for that
This is a sick video dude
THANK YOU FOR PUTTING SYMPHONY X ON THIS ONE! They don't get nearly as much love as they deserve.
I agree with that, but I think it's kinda their fault for not doing practically anything to connect with people. If you check their social media it only consists in posting tour dates and merch while other bands share a lot of content with people. It's almost as if they wanted to stay low
Thanks for having the underrated Annihilator in the video. Lots of great song selections here. Even Venegeance.
Awesome job!!
Great Dt and mastodon picks. Keep up the good work
King Crimson in here, I'm pleased !
So is Diavolo
Pretty cool to see children of bodom on here! Actually my introduction to metal when I got into a concert of theirs for free on accident. Never listened to any metal before but it was a life changing experience. Been listening to it since!
dude this friggin’ awesome! Well done.
Haha your awesome. Glad I found this channel. Subscribed!!
Ok I understand you’re doing the history of metal and not the top songs of the artist but where the hell is Slayer
It's absolutely criminal, isn't it? Angel of Death would've slotted right in there perfectly, after Battery.
Slayer was just a band in thrash metal genre history which was pioneered by metallica and megadeth.
What was disturbing was there is no Death riffs which was absolute necessary i mean a lot of every melodic metal started from them.
Slayer excluded, only one Iron Maiden, Metallica only gets Battery but Extreme gets included?
@@debsattam1 4:09 death riff right here
