- The Ferrari 488 GTB is the latest in a glorious line of mid-engined V8 coupes to roll out of the Maranello gates. It shares plenty in common with its predecessor, the 458, but the big change comes from the way it delivers its power. That's because the 488 is the first mid-engined production Ferrari since the iconic F40 to feature turbocharging. But has the new power unit taken away from the experience, or does this feel just as special as any other Ferrari? I find out by putting the 488 through an in-depth road test.

So much better to see Matt driving this thing on a normal road as a normal bloke would do rather than some experienced racing driver talking about how the thing drives on a track! Matt - you are so much more relate-able.

You're right the relatability of a normal bloke driving a Ferrari 488 GTB around town is incredible. If you want something really relatable the reviewer should be a multi-millionaire talking about how good it looks next to his 911 R and what the residuals are on both vehicles.

I have really, really started loving this car! Its beautiful! At first it doesn't feel much but as you dig deeper into the details you start appreciating the level of attention. I would totally have this over a Huracan, R8 or 720S.
BlackWind Yes I agree you. But not over a 720 S and Lamborghini Huracan Performante
The 720S, as amazing as it is, is too fast for normal use and not very practical and the Huracan is uncomfortable and again, not practical at all.

Definitely get the Spider for coasting around in to listen to the engine - buggar the infotainment system. Crucial to buy a house close to a racetrack for Club track days.
The carbon ceramic brakes do that noise because they are made for heavy use, if they are used slightly then they will produce this noise. They are meant for the track 3:)

Car is amazing - I own and drive one daily - I just wish the 458 NA guys would admit how great this car is ----- Turbo lag is nonexistent --- Its actually almost too loud on the inside - but it doesnt happen until about 4000 RPM - AMAZING

You didn’t mention water bottle storage - this is key when I’m buying a car.. Im torn between a 488 or a Ford Focus... The key decision factor being; how much 1 or 2 litre water bottle storage do I have (other than the foot well - which most people use)...?

How can one small channel like mine have better audio consistency than a professional team armed with incredibly expensive 4K cameras and I can only assume some high end editing software.
