  • I've had my excellent portable washer for 2.5 years now, so here is a follow-up demonstration of the machine, along with my thoughts on owning a washer like this. Still going strong! The classic agitator makes a world of difference!

    I love it that this machine does every cycle even with the lid open, & you can tell it has a strong motor. I have a traditional top loader, & like if the noise it makes wasn't annoying enough, the only time I can leave the lid open is when it's filling up with water. It also won't do a second rinse, unless I run back to it & reprogram it with the analog buttons before it spins, or let it finish & program it to rinse & spin again. Your machine impressed me more. This Dandy machine is pretty handy! 👍

    That's what you call a very aggressive wash lol. I had a whirlpool 1.7 cubic feet portable in my first apartment with a compact dryer. Was the best machines ever and didn't have to wash my regular clothes at a laundromat. It took a while to get all the laundry done but was worth it in the end....

    My Danby Designer is 20 years old and still going strong. I have had to replace the intake valves and the drain hose, but a small price to pay, since the nearest laundromat is a 45 minute drive.
    I'm taking a break from moving the drain hose to the other hole to fit its permanent place in my bathroom. The dishwasher, in the kitchen, uses a larger quick connect.

    Quite the wash action! I noticed your tub is indexing quite a bit, with a load of this size, adding a little bit more water manually will stop the indexing and save the brake on the drum. I have a washer similar to this with the agipeller design, and the addition of the extra water makes quite a difference in the tub staying put rather than turning during agitation.

However my only issue is when its fully loaded when the barrel itself moves it squeals as it does it, don't know if there is a fix or not but other than that it works flawlessly.
    Another thing is the middle agitator did come off (not sure if middle bolt sheared off?) and i think its because i overloaded it, it was a simple fix of just bolting it back in and hasn't come loose since.

    I've watched your 2 videos on this machine, and they're very good, but have you ever checked online for reviews from people who have had serious problems with this unit??? Also, there are people who had serious problems with the Danby 0.9 cu. ft. portable washing machine which doesn't have that tall old-style Agitator in it. Both these units are available in Canada. I've been weighing the pros and cons of each of these units carefully and I still can't decide to buy either of these units for myself yet because of the bad reviews I've read on these 2 units. Granted in any Appliance Line there can be a number of "LEMONS" created that slip passed quality control, but still, some problems are in fact problems with the basic overall design. In any case, I'm glad that you've got a good unit here for yourself and that you'll enjoy the benefits of your machine for many years to come! If you're thinking of connecting to the rainwater drainage system on your balcony don't- it's illegal and environmentally damaging- chances are your rainwater downpipes are separate from the sewage system, meaning all the detergent etc will simply end up in the nearest natural watercourse.

      You can't tighten the bolt inside the agitator down (under the lint filter)? If so, I'm sorry to hear that. Mine is still running, and recently came back from being used by someone else for a bit. Still running great, but the agitator bolt did need to be tightened.

      It has 4 wheels (they aren't casters). It's easy enough to move around on a hard floor, but I ended up getting a stand for it with huge casters, so I could roll it on carpet as needed. Hope this helps!

      With mine, I’ve had to remove the lint filter on the top of the agitator, and tighten the agitator screw. It’ll loosen up a bit over time, and occasionally needs to be tightened.
      If that doesn’t work, I would contact a local professional and see if it’s savable.

      Yep this machine has 4 small wheels to roll it on, and a stabilizer foot that you lower before you use it. The washer is around 80 pounds I would guess. Glad you enjoyed my demos! I love the portable washer and dryer, and no I would never use an indoor dryer ventilation kit with my dryer. Unless it's a dryer that doesn't require venting (which are still very uncommon in the USA), I would vent it outside.

      @@VacTech1 I have watched many videos today and I've ordered a washer. I'm now concerned with the info I'm seeing on the ventilation of the dryers. Many of these videos are not mentioning this or they are saying no ventilation needed, which I'm finding misleading

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  5 років тому +1

      @@michellerenee5028 They may not know better, but any standard dryer should be vented outdoors. If I didn't vent mine outside, it would be putting a ton of moist air back into my living room, which could lead to mildew and mold if not careful. I also don't want air with remnants of chemicals (detergent, fabric softener, or dryer sheets) being blown back into the room for hours to breath. Hope you find some machines that you're happy with! Regardless, being able to do laundry at home is a huge time saver and very convenient.

    • @MHow-qc3ns
      @MHow-qc3ns 5 років тому

      @@VacTech1: I had a Kenmore portable washer and Kenmore portable dryer. The dryer was situated on a rack above the washer.
      Instead of using fabric softener I used 1 cup white vinegar in the rinse cycle for all kinds of clothing. It really gets all the soap out and everything smells like it's been hanging on a line drying outdoors. And towels never got filled with fabric softener so they absorbed water.
      Next, for the dryer, I bought a kit that contained an expandable aluminum hose that fit into the back of the dryer and into a small bucket on the floor. Water was added to the bucket and during the drying time, the lint went into the water in the bucket. There was never any excess moisture so I never had a mold problem. You can only use this kit on an electric dryer. A gas dryer must be vented to the outside of the building.
      Once yearly I washed my feather pillows. Unfortunately for me, one pillow opened and the feathers invaded the transmission and couldn't be fixed. Using the laundry room in the building is time-consuming and inconvenient. So, after seeing your video I think this Dandy would be perfect for me. Thank you.
