  • Hello Everyone!
    Thank you for watching this 2 part series of the Best portable washing machine for an apartment and small living space! I will be making more washer/dryer related videos very soon, along with some tips and tricks for washing clothes. This video is dedicated to showing you all the washing and drying cycles, and how to use each unit. One correction I wanted to address from the first video is that the washer does better yet 3 full cycles on a large load setting, and not 2, sorry about any confusion that may have caused. If you guys have any questions, concerns, or comments please feel free to leave them down below in the comment section. This will in turn help me to know what to add to our next upcoming video.
    Thank you,
    Rachael, Jesse, and Mila XO

      I'm wondering if yours is still working perfectly. I had to returned a defective one, gave the brand another chance and bought it again, and again after 2 months of use will have to return it (adviced by the store I bought it from). I love my washer and I'm extremely careful to how I load it and use it. I'm very sad that I will have to take it back.

    I’m 70 and live alone. My wash loads are smaller, not like a family wash. This is on its way to me now I’m so excited to get this. Nice setup! A couple of thoughts though -
    That’s too much laundry detergent! It only needs a tablespoon to clean your clothes. You are buying into the sales pitch that bubbles equal clean. That is false. They add chemicals to made it bubble but those chemicals do nothing to clean your clothes. Excessive detergent leads to clothes wearing out sooner than necessary and chemical buildup on your clothes. Also - Tide (as well as most laundry detergent) is formulated for cold water. The sufectants (the chemicals that draw the dirt away from the clothes) work best in cold water and break down and don’t perform well in warm or hot water. Also hot water is just wasting money to heat. The dryer or the sun (if hang drying will sanitize your clothes - not warm or hot water. Also - add vinegar to rinse cycle and not wash cycle. The laundry detergent negates the effect of the vinegar. For a wash cycle use baking soda. Finally - using a large load setting when you only have a few items or toddler clothing is again wasting money. It’s not necessary and leads to longer wash times (electricity) and bigger water bills.

    • @RachaelXO
      @RachaelXO  5 років тому +10

      Thank you. I explain how I tried a tablespoon like some people suggested. There's no way in the world the clothes are clean off of a tablespoon, the clothes didn't even come close to smelling fresh and still stunk. So, sorry can't agree with you there. If that's what you do though, and guessing so, then continue to do what works best for you. As for the electricity Bill, it only averages like $12 the most in a whole year, so we're truly not too worried about it. Water is pretty minimal as well. We rather our Baby's clothes wash thoroughly as well, like I explained in there video. Plus, it's never for only a couple articles, it's a little load. Thank you for your input though, it's appreciated. We all experiment and do what we feel is Best from trial and error.

    I know you have since upgraded to full size w/d but just wanted to let you know I found this video helpful even though its 3 years old. I am one person and couldnt really justify spending the money on full size machines. I ordered similar to this, I think they are newer versions, and watching this set my mind at ease that the portable w/d will work for me.
    Just a front load washer alone is $700 and above and for less than that I am getting a washer and a dryer! Thanks for all the great info. I watched all the videos on the portable machines. Oh and I also am subscribed now!

      Aww thank you so much ❤️ Yes, I love the set up. We've moved since these videos so I haven't got to post anymore lately. However, to answer your question it fits quite a bit, but I don't recommend stuffing it. This way your clothes wash good and the lil units don't overwork, so they'll last longer. I show in my video a load of laundry we wash to show how much fits.

      You can most certainly do it that way if you'd like. I like each cycle with warm water though, I personally feel they come out cleaner. As for energy costs, we really haven't seen much of an increase to speak of if any. It's like $12 a year to run.

I live DTLA, no washer dryer in my building, laundromat is farrrrrr and costly, I'm trying to do my research before I buy and yours is the best setting I've seen yet. If you tell me you don't need to vent the dryer, I'm all in and ordering online. I have no doubt this will CHANGE my life.

    Hello I wanted to know what is your go to cycle ?
    I first used the LARGE/HEAVY/ COLD WATER but quickly saw it fills up the tub 3 times! 1 for washing and then the other 2 for rinsing.
    Then I tried the LARGE/QUICK/ COLD WATER and saw it only washes for around 3 mins but fills up the tub to rinse.
    I am now using the LARGE/NORMAL/COLD WATER because it states that it’s the most efficient but noticed that it fills the tub once to wash and then during the 1 rinse in only splashes with water it doesn’t fill up the tub.

    love this video and how cute your daughter is ! Question, do you have to leave the water running the whole wash cycle or just in the beginning for it to fill up ? when do you turn the faucet off ?

      @RachaelXO  4 роки тому

      Thank you! Yes, you leave it on, and walk away. It does everything by itself.

      Towards the end of my video, I talk about how the clothes come out after washing. It spins well, so basically come out dry and can be hung.

    Hello, I'm super excited to have found your videos since I am expecting a baby boy in a few weeks and I also live on the top floor in an apartment. A few questions for you though, did you have any trouble with management saying it wasn't allowed? My contract doesn't specifically say, but I feel if I ask them, they will say no since they want us to pay to use their washer/dryer. Also, did you notice a huge increase in your water and electric bill?

    • @RachaelXO
      @RachaelXO  5 років тому +2

      Congratulations on your Baby Boy 💙 I have other videos related to the washer as well that I go more into detail for cost, check them out. We don't pay for water here at our apartment, but I doubt it would cost that much. As for management, ours is a rude girl, so we would never ask her, we just did it. If it doesn't say you can't have it, then it's nobody's business what you do in your home.

    Hi, I stumbled upon your videos when I was researching portable washers and you convinced me to get my own! Anyways I've had my magic chef 3.0 washer for about 2 months and I honestly love it, but a couple days ago I was wiping down the barrel after I did a load and I heard a "swoosh" sound...it seems like there's water under the barrel? Maybe? I've been trying to figure out of that's normal but haven't found an answer...do you have any idea about it? It doesn't seem to affect the way the washer works and my clothes come out completely wringed out...I'm just worried about it becoming an issue in the long run.

      Many years ago I had that sound too. While doing a repair we found a water doughnut in the top of basket. It's a counter balance while spin cycle to minimize banging on spin start.

    Hi! Thank you for the video. We're considering to buy that portable washer. I wonder if you replaced the hose for both the water and the drain. Also, the air vent did you buy one or it is already included? Thanks

    • @RachaelXO
      @RachaelXO  5 років тому

      Thank you for watching our video. In the first video we show the setup of how we hooked up longer drain and water hoses. You can find the other video by clicking on my channel. I provided down in the description box of both videos links to everything we used. I'll be posting more videos about the washer/combo very soon. They're an excellent investment!

      Oh and as for the air vent, it comes with what you see. We bought the dryer exhaust contraption that is offered on Amazon, but it was too big and bulky for our liking, so we returned it.

    Do u ever just use the pods? How many would u put in?

    • @RachaelXO
      @RachaelXO  4 роки тому

      No, I believe the liquid is better, because it is distributed through the washer quicker.

    Hi! Does your washer fills up to the top for a large load? I bought the new version of this washer on a 2.0 cu. And I'm disappointed that mine fills up half of it for a large load. I had to fill it up by hand to do a large load it coul wash properly.

    • @RachaelXO
      @RachaelXO  5 років тому +1

      Hello. Yes, it fills up. Not to the very top of course, but yes it's fills. Perhaps you should return it for a new one. I don't see why their new model wouldn't fill up, unless it's defected.

    • @Suil281
      @Suil281 5 років тому +1

      I'm so disappointed on Home Depot. First the dryer had a bended leg (so I returned it and now waiting for a replacement) now the washer machine won't fill up more then half way... I already called them and at least they are reasonable with returns, but wao this is the 2 defected item "one right after another". I love your review, very informative. Thanks a lot for answering my question😊

      @@Suil281 I'm so sorry for your frustrations, I get it, I've totally been there. Seems like a domino effect sometimes lol. Hoping it all gets straightened out quickly as possible so you can enjoy your units, because I know you really will. I have other related videos as well you may want to check out.
