I remember that antenna tower crashing onto that chopper was the best feeling of satisfaction I ever had in a revenge story game.
and also the chopper being turned int a pancake
*helipancake xd*
Pancopter?
Max payne not game,Max payne is time...
Breaking thelast string of the tower felt like a boss battle on it's own 😂
"The final gunshot was an exclamation point to everything that had led to me at this point. I released the finger from the trigger" Couldn't have been anything else written so beautifully !

On my first playthrough when max said that I thought he would end up killing himself at the end
@@herobrineslayer1585 lol me too
Bro this game has lot of emotions.
Sam Lake knows how to write compelling dialogues! Especially in a language that isn’t is!
The ending, the music, and Max walking slowly really made me feel so satisfied when every painful moments have finally ended. One of the most glorious game endings I've ever experienced. Games like these will be seared in my mind my forever
sonyviva308 Yea me too
Not bad, but Max's journey ends in the third game. (When forth?
But the pain just began..
Rest in peace, James McCaffrey I'll be replaying the Max Payne games for a long time thanks to your amazing performance.
this game was an emotion
You have seen the PAYNE
I might have laughed if I had remembered how.
Sarthak Singh dont anwser that a retaricle question
It still is.
and scary when i was a kid i was so scared of his nightmares and i hated the maze and the blood thing
Wow, what a masterpiece. its ashame we dont get games like this anymore. I mean come on, when you play games like this, you can almost feel the soul of the game.
Exactly. No game has that today because they’re all loot box driven. Gotta dig deep for the good ones
We still do, but it comes once or twice a decade.
There are on 1 in a million games like max Payne released in a decade
Good news Remedy is remaking Max Payne 1 and 2 with Rockstar's financial support.
@@ittskabeer7285 yeah maybe in a different reality but not in this one for sure
The Colt Commando sounds are AMAZING

mine to bro, mine too :')
same, played it since I was 7
Yes, sir!
Same, we are from the same generation all :) and Medal of Honor Allied Assault, 6 years old :)
The ending of this game has some similarities to ending of GTA III. Killing a female villain in her helicopter... And both games were released in 2001. Strange.
Payne and Claude even looked similar
By the same company as well
And both set in New York
Yes dude... even payne and claude look same but both were made by rockstar games😎
Yeah instead the helicopter has gun
In this game max payne murdered about 500 guys. How was he able to get out of jail to make two more games?
alfred woden is the answer ... george bush is a free man as well :D
j Nicholas in his case is not an act of murder nor police brutality,he's just doing his duty
well the guys he killed were mostly mobsters from the punchinello crime family, and he was mostly pursued by police because of the murder of alex balder, and dont forget max payne took a sex tape with candy dawn from alfred wooden's office just in case if wooden did not keep his promise.
Yet, how did he get his job back, too?
The charges were dropped which is why he was able to work for the nypd again.

You can feel Nicole Horne's despair that her elite guards with falling to a one man army with nothing to lose and the power of revenge with him.
"That made two of us."
That line with Max looking directly at the player. What an ending, gets me every time!!!
This is a game franchise that deserves to never be forgotten. But ironically, in true Film-Noir fashion, it has been; It's own unhappy ending.
It the game gets forgotten, people will go "A bit closer to heaven"
Its getting remade witth max payne 2 togertther!
@@squiddokez seriously can’t wait! Hopefully it creates new fans to the point that we get a fourth installment but if we don’t get the third ended with him closing all ties it’ll still be amazing. 😊

@@gtvn2775Remedy is remaking Max Payne 1 and 2 together as one game.
The only problem with game is that it ends after this level.
@Dave Hanson Yess bro, I was so emotional after ending of this game because Whole day and night in my childhood I always thinks about how to clear this level or that level.
If you play on Dead on Arrival mode, you get to play the secret level where there is a lot of Easter eggs.
Nicole Horne was played by Sam Lake's mother and Max Payne was played by Sam Lake. The more you know.
Hahaahhaha
And Alfred Woden was played by Sam Lake's father
Max Payne’s voice was by James McCaffrey
" Mom can you play this evil character in my game?"

You "accidently" rent mp1? What game you supposed to rent?
@@zherean42069 Back in the day you could rent games in videostores. It was a normal thing to do. Every kid used to rent games. It's a 80s and 90s thing. Beginning of 2000 also. You understand now?
@@frontandcenter7941 No. I'm from the 90s. How do you accidentally rent it? You should know what's in the case.

I wonder if it occured to Max Payne that he would end up in a beach in Brazil finally forgiving himself and letting go.
He had to eventually. It wouldn't make sense holding on to the past all your life. It's a bit silly yes, but in the end, it all worked out for him. A lot of people, hardcore fans especially, seem to complain about the film adaptation though. I'd still watch it either way, even if it's not all that good. It's a decent flick at best, in my opinion.
In Brazil he at least save Giovanna and Passos and Da Silva was there to avoid the final gunshot you could say that everything that he couldn't in the first 2 game he got it in the third one
The feeling of save a live involved with him
@DRIVER Thank you, I'm getting tired of people saying 3 doesn't deserve to be part of the franchise. They don't seem to realize that the whole point of the game is Max forgiving himself and letting go. That scene where he walks down the beach with the sun setting down is by far my all time favorite moment in any video game because you know that after all the struggles and hardships he finally has closure and can lead a peaceful life. The only thing that could've made the 3rd game better is if it were called "The Rise of Max Payne" since it feels suitable knowing that 2 was "The Fall".
@@trixterplays975 the film adaptation is a bit odd. why would the main antagonist of the game become a supporting character? thats just stupid. clearly the movie creators either didnt play the game, or they did but didnt pay any attention.
@@RagingInsomniac The movie was just a cash grab and from an era when people were trying really hard to make bad movie adaptations of good games.
You can actually 'kill' Horne on top of that dark stairway if you use a sniper rifle. As soon as she opens the door to spray you with Ingram, shoot her. It gives you that nice animation with rifle bullet flying and when it hits her, it looks as if she is going down to the ground. The level continues normally though, I think.
I wonder why people like to break video games...
Piero Minaya Rojas Curiosity I guess...
Yeah sounds fun, why not?
Yes if we do that she will throw grenade on us and after that we will die
Right I sniped her in the head with the slo mo bullet
Max Payne - the punisher of the game world
Or for a better term, the virtual "Dirty Harry".
@SAR HQ That game was awesome, wonder why they didn't make more of them
funny enough, there's a Punisher game and it's good
@@lambda-m1676 The Punisher game was amazing. Too bad you can’t find it for under $100
That's a final what a lot of games just need to do, a simple and clear final, no desnecessary final fighting, no melodramatic ending, just clear and resolved, is so satisfying see him concluding his revenge...
Why not? I expected Max to have a shootout against her

The writing of this game was just so pure and ahead of its time.
Max Payne series has alot of memorable quotes in it.
@Hanferd, "The flesh of fallen angels!"
I might have laughed if I remembered how
Max: got something for the boss. Lupino around ?
Finito brothers:Lupino ain't he-
Max:Don't answer that.
Finito Brothers:Lupino ain't he-
Max:DON'T ANSWER THAT.
Finito brothers:*quiet*
Max :A rhetorical question.
The past is a gaping hole. You try to run from it, but the more you run, the deeper, more terrible it grows behind you, its edges yawning at your heels. Your only chance is to turn around and face it. But it's like looking down into the grave of your love, or kissing the mouth of a gun, a bullet trembling in its dark nest, ready to blow your head off.
*WHAT THE HELL*
It's Payne, whack him!!
MAX PAYNE?!?!
Its *PAIN*
Playing this game on hard was like Groundhog Day, I would start memorizing their every move after every time I died 😂
Sound of the baby crying in the background gave me goosebumps and nightmares. One of the best games ever
So iconic. Impacted narrative games for decades to come. Etched James McCaffrey's voice into every gamer's head.
James, there will be no one like you ever again! Heaven has now the best narration.
4:01 - "What do you mean he's unstoppable? You are superior to him in every way; You are better trained, better equipped, you outnumber him at least twenty-to-one. Do. Your. Job."

I love it when characters acknowledge when the protagonist is a unstoppable killing machine
If only she knew how the importance of motivation..
08:17 "They where all dead, the final gunshot was an exclamation mark to everything that had led to this point i released my finger from the trigger and then it was over".......
That painkiller pickup sound is *ICONIC*
destroying that helicopter was awesome at the end

This a proper revenge story unlike the last of us 2.
Last of us 2 wasn't about revenge it was about letting things go you can't change the past you have to move forward if you don't bad things happen to you or the people close to you that's exactly what happen in max payne 2 LA Noire life is strange games and the insomniac spider man

Bullet Time was such a unique concept when this game was released. Amazing game back it was then in 2001 and even now.
The most epic moment in gaming history 7:42 the soundtrack everything!
7:43 is where you actually knew it was all over "They were all dead"
Fun fact: The face of Max Payne is Sam Lake's. The original creator of the saga.
Nicole Horne is modeled by Sam Lake's mother.
i had no idea you had to shoot a grenade at the tower! still. that end pissed me off. it glitched too much on my ps2 copy.
It glitches on my PS2 also. I wonder why it turned out so well for X-Box as opposed to PlayStation.
Well needles to say I got so pissed off I smashed my copy on the floor lol
mully2point0 mine didn't glitch on ps2.can't tell u how long it was before I figured out about shooting the tower with a grenade
I just finished playing it on the PS2. It was extremely glitchy for me as well. The hardest part is aiming. Even knowing what to do, I still can't shoot that god damn wire through the iron barred door.
That's one way of doing it. I always shot the last wire from the ledge where you shoot the first one. The first time I played it, I shot the tower repeatedly with a colt commando, which does work. But after I used the M79, I stuck with that. One shot and mission complete.
Fantastic game. A true classic. But I was always left feeling a little empty at the end. A more up close and personal kill was always what I wanted. But you can’t have everything
one of the best games with one of the best show down/endings of all time!

This one and Max Payne 2 are the best ever and will never get old. Can someone tell me why it’s so blurry on my 1080 p monitor?
I'd love to see a modernized version of this game.
No changes to dialogue. No extra levels. No fucking achievements ("You Killed 50 Guys!", No shit).

Fun facts about the cast and developers (some of them are common knowledge, others are not):
Petri Järvilehto is one of the founding members of Remedy. He left in 2011.
Tuula Järvi (Nicole Horne) is Sam Lake's mother.
Markku Järvi (Alfred Woden) is Sam Lake's father.
Teemu Järvi (Virgilio Finito) is most likely Sam Lake's brother. He works as a designer and illustrator for wildlife nad nature.
Peter Hajba, who worked on sound design and animation, composed the music that plays in the club Ragna Rock. It's called Corruptor and he released it under his stage name Skaven.
Kärtsy Hatakka, one of the soundtrack composers, is the vocalist of a prolific Finnish metal band, Waltari.
Marko Saaresto (Vladimir) is Sam Lake's long time friend and the vocalist of the band Poets of the Fall, who have been collaborating with Remedy for over 20 years now. During Max Payne's development, the band didn't exist yet and Marko worked as a graphic designer, which makes sense with his credits as the artist behind the Captain Baseball Bat comic strip.
Olli Tukiainen (Vinnie Gognitti) is the guitarist of Poets of the Fall. For some reason, he is not credited as a graphic novel model.
Markus Kaarlonen, who did sound engineering in this game, would later be recommended by Sam Lake to Saaresto and Tukiainen as the two started working on Late Goodbye for MP2. The three would later go on to start Poets of the Fall.
Carol Kiriakos (Mona Sax) works as a writer coach and psychologist.
Jani Niipola (Alex Balder) also works as a writer and is the director for Fashion Finland.
Aki Järvilehto (B.B.) is an experienced executive in software and game companies, which is probably why he received the special thanks in the credits.
Rami Lehtimäki (Jack Lupino) works as an interior architect.
Aki Saariaho (Joey Finito) is a philosophy teacher in Espoo. He was a Green party candidate for Espoo in 2021.
No official source for this, but I remember Sam Lake mentioning how a lot of models for the game were his neighbours, friends, relatives and even his janitor.

I really miss old games. Those days developers used to spe d time on stories
28.04.21 I finally decided to go back and finish the game. In spite of all the bullshit involving the slaughter of population of a small country, it felt good in the end. The broken helipad crashing on top of the burning helicopter was so satisfying.
