And that is awesome that you pointed that out about in the chorus where it goes into full stereo separation for parts of it and also I absolutely really love the vocal Arrangement aspect of the chorus. I mean it all fits together so well don't get me wrong, but wow, the Dynamics even with the backing vocals, they will swell out of nothing and right when they hit this beautiful strong sustained Harmony vocal cord, then Lou Gramm enters The Fray and does counterpoint off of it and the Dynamics there or really good too, I love their use of space in this. So it starts to almost sound like it has a bit of a pop feeling, but you don't forget even for a second that it's actually really hard driving Rock.

    Hey A&A community
    Doug here (Doug in NY)
I'm a big fan of you all from way back... And I'm an Eye Surgeon here in NYC. Double Vision is the layman's term for Diplopia or seeing double. That is, seeing two of everything. It is a serious ophthalmic condition and usually happens when your eyes are slightly out of alignment in their ability to focus on something you are looking at.
    I hope that helps.
I was also a medical educator and would train the new MD Residents.
I would always tell them how Foreigner covered a lot of serious medical conditions in their music:
    Hypothermia--Cold As Ice
    Hyperthermia--Hot Blooded
    Diplopia--Double Vision
    Amnesia--Feels Like The First Time

    • @lindazee

Very funny! Love the list of conditions and corresponding song. Btw, I agree that double vision is a serious condition. I had it for a while one day out of the blue. It was awful. It turned out I had a palsy of my right (I think supraorbital) muscle. Doc (also NY) said eventually it might self-correct. After a few months, it did go away, but I still don't exactly know what caused it. ➿️

Something weird, wonderful and Random happened to me tonight and I just thought I'd share. In 2010 I was traveling through San Fransisco with my band and we got invited to a party at a cabin up in the redwoods. There was a big bonfire with about 40 people sitting around it and this guy named Fantuzzi was passing around a guitar. So I played a few songs, got to know Fantuzzi and had a great time. 13 years later and I now live on an island in Thailand called Koh Samui where I make my living as a musician. Tonight I was at a local beach bar and there he was, Fantuzzi, the bonfire guy! Performing! And we still remembered each other! This has nothing to do with Foreigner but it's a cool story and I just got home and I'm a little bit drunk and stoned... not quite double vision but that's enough of a connection for me to make this story relevant. I love being a musician. Subscribe and hit the bell.

Alex, it's appropriate that you should wear that shirt for Foreigner. Lou Gramm's home town of Rochester is only an easy drive from Niagara Falls. Rochester has also given us Steve Gadd, Chuck Mangione, Gene Cornish of The Rascals, Cab Calloway, regional powerhouse band Duke Jupiter, Don Potter, who helped create the sound of The Judds, and many others. Including Rick Beato. On this Foreigner album, the multi-talented Ian McDonald, who passed away year ago, played guitar, keyboards, and woodwinds. He had previously been a founder of King Crimson, which was a very different sort of band. Just shows that the really talented ones can play any kind of music.

Lou Gramm. He became a Christian years ago (1992). Lou Gramm Band released an album with songs that express his faith in God in 2009. After serious health issues (brain tumor in 1997), his voice has not been what it used to be for many, many years, but he still sings-he just is more like a blues singer now than a rocker who can belt it. In 2021, he released a compilation of his solo material. He had said he had more solo material forthcoming, but I’ve not seen it.

I love foreigner too, but they've been nothing but a tribute band over the last 10 12 years , not one original member touring on this so-called farewell tour. Mick Jones shows up once in awhile probably to count all his money. I saw them a few years back in Florida they were great, BUT but something inside me just said this is so sleazy not one of these guys was even anywhere near any of the hits they made. Mick Jones wasn't even on stage that night!

The Double Vision tour was my big sister's first concert in 1977 at age 15. And then, in the early 1990s I had the pleasure of seeing them live at the Universal Amphitheatre in L.A. and Gramm's voice was top notch still.

Foreigner, Lou Gramm (singer), Mick Jones (guitar - former Spooky Tooth, played with George Harrison, Peter Frampton, and Gary Wright), and Ian MacDonald (winds - former King Crimson) were a hit machine. So commercially successful that I think many forget they were just a great straight up rock band. Lou Gramm’s voice is unmistakable.

I was extremely lucky to have seen 2 of the greatest male Rock singers live in concert during the 70’s. Paul Rogers with the band Free & Lou Graham with Foreigner, both top tier in vocal range & power. They could sing anything and nail the live performance delivery without any gimmicks.
Unfortunately, I never got to see The Who at their peak, but Roger Daltry, in my opinion, would be in that same top tier also.
