It would be interesting to see if you tried again, but washed your hair before treating it each time. It’s possible that your natural oil and whatever hair product you had in your hair kept this treatment from having as much of an affect.
It looks a little lighter after to me but maybe it's my imagination. It worked well for me but you need to spend time in the sun and it takes a long time to see results. I used this method in summers as a teenager as I wasn't yet allowed to dye my hair. I would spritz it every morning (I spent most of my time outdoors) and my hair would get sun-kissed highlights by the time school returned. Its not the most practical method but it can be an option for those who want to avoid damage.
