Here it is 2 years later and I have just discovered Floss tubes (a bit slow on the uptake here). Thank you. This was an enormous help. I am tired to trying to find already dyed fabric for my projects. They are so expensive, too. I'm doing a gray for a snowy background and this was so helpful. Thanks. Yeah, Vodka helps!!!

In the past couple of months I've been trying my hand at dyeing my own fabric and i've been so frustrated because i've been using the powdered dye and i've been left with red and blue spots every single time. I even would leave it to sit for like an hour in hot water thinking it would dissolve. I'm definitely going out this week and buying the liquid to try again, and hopefully the results will be much better! Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and tricks. It really is as easy as it looks. I think the oranges are the funnest colors to play with. You can sprinkle a little gray, or black or purple and it will always turn out awesome!!

OMG...I totally made sure the vodka was out of screen when I started but I definitely got sloppy at the end. We buy our tequila super sized too! I don't know if want Jim helping unless there is a plan in place already to replace your counter tops!!! Good luck! Hahahah!!!

It's so much fun isn't it! I love experimenting with the shades. Since I had so much fabric dyed I decided to start dyeing floss. Lol some of mine pictured on my Instagram back pictures.
I'm gonna save this video for later use. I really liked how you had the camera overhead, so we could actually "see" what you were doing! I haven't tried dying my own fabric yet, but this is gonna be helpful. Dayyuum girl ... the vodka! LMAO I don't feel so bad about the tequila bottle on top of my fridge now or the tub of frozen margarita mix in my freezer ;)
We buy our booze at Costco. It's cheap but it's Grey Goose bottled under the Kirkland brand. We used to pay $40 a bottle for Patron Silver tequila. Now we buy the Kirkland brand for $20 and it's twice the size. The store manager told us that Costco won't confirm that it is actually manufactured by Patron but it is made and shipped in the Patron plant in Mexico. And it damn good. I'm too old for cheap booze!!!
I'm so happy!! I found your channel after screwing up a large piece of Aida cloth after a bad tutorial. I tried to mottle dye with blues after tea and coffee dyeing. It didn't take at all! (guessing the acid in the tea and coffee messed with it?) I was about to give up and just order it online for a ridiculous price when I found this. Thanks so much! I'm about to run out and buy every Rit color.
Absolutely the best dyeing video. Thank you so much for taking the time to show us how. My question has to do with setting time. At one point you said to let the fabric sit for 30 minutes and then said a few minutes. So do you let the base color sit for 30 minutes before you rinse and then let the mottled over dye just sit for a few minutes? Also, what about using a spray bottle for mottling? Sorry for all the questions. Thank you❤️

Thanks Julie. I've been really happy with how quick of a process it is compared to the agonizing coffee/tea dying and it doesn't all rinse out.
