ABOUT ME:
Thanks for visiting my channel, I hope you enjoyed the video! I started Caterpillar Cross Stitch in 2015 when I tried desperately for months to find a modern baby sampler my mum could stitch for new baby Felicity that would fit in with her simple, contemporary nursery. I love teaching others to enjoy cross stitch, running, baking fruit cakes and drinking gin!
See you soon and happy stitching! Sally x

I have watched several tutorials on dying cross stitch fabric. Your results are my favorite!
Can i wash my dyed aida after i finish my project?
I’m so glad I ran across this!! It’s so hard to find dyed fabrics now, but I have an entire bolt of white. I had no idea it was this simple.
That was great Jen .
Great fabrics, thank you!

I just found this YT about dying fabric. Oh, it looks fun! All the details noted here are certainly appreciated.
Thank you for showing us this technique.
Great tutorial, no fuss , thank you!
I tried this today! So easy; thanks for easy instructions! 🥰🥰
Thank u for that awesome video , gonna try it this weekend:))))
Great video! 🤩. I definitely appreciate the tip about using the spoon instead of just pouring the dye. It really makes a difference in making sure you don’t use too much.
Awesome tutorial thanks and nice to see you Jen!
Thanks for watching! : )
After watching your video I'm inspired to give it a try. Thankyou.
Thank you. Just dyed one today using a scrap piece of Aida and it came out perfectly. Just like you showed. Now I can dye my 28!evenweave with confidence. Thanks so much.
I love the blue.x
beautiful!
thanks for the tutorial video
Hi Jen. Thanks so much for this tutorial. Dying fabric is easier than I was expecting. I dyed a piece of cross stitch fabric with light blue and it looks like a sky with clouds and now I don’t have to stitch them - just the fun flowers.
Great information on dye ing fabric! Thank you
So glad it was helpful!
Excellent tutorial I’m going to definitely be giving this a try!
They came out beautiful. Wow. Really pretty. Thank you for making this video. Very helpful. I heard some bake in oven to set, that may only be for tea dying. I know the fabric can burn in the oven too.
i loved this . tyvm,,,
Hello! Most tutorials have an extra step to fix the colour (baking), so I’m wondering if you can wash the fabric safely after stitching
A familiar, sweet face here! You are doing a good job! Love you and Caterpillar Cross Stitch!
Thanks Betty, Jen did a great job! : )
Very interesting. I am now going to dye my own fabric. One suggestion. I use my sewing machine and do an overcast stitch on the edges. Works just like a serger.
Mind blowing!! I for sure will use this method, thank you for showing your how to!!
Most welcome 😊
Excellent tutorial!!!! Thanks Jen
You are so welcome!
I’m looking for tips on rinsing the cloth and dye cleanup … I’m scared I’m going to stain my white sink. Help?
You were very helpful, Thank you
You're welcome!
Great tutorial
Thanks for watching :)
Thank you for sharing.. I have dyed silk and tea dyed AIDA but not tried these dyes..
Thank you for this information. I have stitched on linen and wondered why my stitches looked wonky and other times just fine.
Thank you for th clear instructions. Instead of a serger I zigzag with my sewing machine or just sew two lines of straight stitching. Love the colors!
Wow you did a top notch job. So clear and easy to understand. You are a professional. Would love if you did more videos on your dying. Many thanks!
Thank you!
Wow, amazing work and what a cost savings 🎉❤
Thank you for watching! 😊
Thanks!
You're welcome!
Hi! Great video! Quick question, when you iron it do you use steam or dry iron?
Thank you for posting. How do you make it color fast?
Thank you. Love the results😁👍. Why do some people put salt in while others don't? Take care
I just found this tutorial...very informative...thank you to Jen for demonstrating! 😊
Thank you Jennifer! An amazing video. Will definitely be watching a lot more while dying my fabric😍🥰
Thanks for the video. Very helpful! If I wanted to do two different colours for example grey and pink. Would I do this at same time? As put all grey on then the pink and then let it sit. Or would I rinse the grey, let it dry and go back over with pink? Thanks
Thank you so much for this video! I'm about to do my first attempt in an hour live on stream XD we shall see how that goes.
Quick question about Jen's reveal using her fabric. Any chance we could know where she got the backstitch pattern of the baby alien?
Great tutorial!! Looking forward to trying this technique. I have one question. I always wash my finished piece in cold soapy water and rinse in cold water. Do you think I should use a color catcher? Will dye residue bleed over onto my finished stitches??
You can use masking tape or painters tape for the edges of your dyed fabric before stitching
Yes you can!
P,ease could you tell me which rit dye you used as there are a few depending on fabric used?I want to try it on 28 count evenweave
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

What size are the plastic containers you used
Hi! Thanks for the wonderful video. Is it possible to wash and reuse the containers or use empty peanut butter jars or something similar? I hate to think of all that plastic going into the landfill. Can you save dye for another day or will it break down?
Great idea, thank you for sharing! :)
Thank you so much for showing how to do this - I have been wanting to dye some of my aida fabrics, but just wasn't sure how to go about it - Now I know - If I wanted to have more than just one color, would I have to dry each color in between each color dyeing process, such as maybe using a green and then have some pink with it?
Yes, I believe you would have to do each colour separately or they may run into each other : )
Where did you get your containers?
how do you get a multi color dye on the cloth? Whats the process?
Can I wash my project when it is complete?
Thanks! Does the dye stain your sink?
Thanks for watching!
How many oz are these disposable plastic containers?
How much dye would you recommend if I dont want such intense pigmentation? I'm trying for an aged look and my aida is coming out far to pigmented. I'm wasting so much money experimenting 😮💨
Thank you for this tutorial. Can you dye any fabric or does it have to be Monaco
Yes you can! Any fabric!
@@CaterpillarCrossStitch thank you
Are they colorfast? I always wash my piece after stitching, would that work with this method?
I would recommend testing the floss first before stitching to ensure they would be colourfast.
The floss is colorfast. I'm asking about the fabric after it's dyed.
Dog does not bother. It is cute.
Great Job. But does dying the fabric cause the holes to be smaller than they started out with
Why would it do that? It soaks into the fibers of the fabric
