STEP 1:
First, clean and dry the area. Just some soapy water will do
Now disclaimer for this next step, be very careful sanding the cars clear coat. You don’t want to go through to the paint as you’ll have to apply new clear coat.
STEP 2:
Get the panel nice and wet, then get some 2000 grit sandpaper, wrap it round a sponge to avoid hotspots, soak the sandpaper and wet sand LIGHTLY over the scratches. Should only need to go over the area a couple of times, up and down, as well as side to side.
STEP 3:
Clean all the wet sanding residue off the panel and you should be left with a nice uniform haze where you sanded.
STEP 4:
Then apply some compound to a buffing pad and rub down the area you sanded with firm pressure for 2-5 minutes, it takes some buffing to bring the shine back.
STEP 5:
Leave the compound for a couple of minutes and then buff it off with a clean microfibre towel.
Check it out, those scratches are now gone and the paint looks more like new and better than before!
STEP 6:
For extra shine and protection, apply some polish and after that wax. Do this the exact same way as applying the compound
