    I fitted the modified gear when I rebuilt mine. My "rebuilt" LT77 leaks lot of oil. I can live with that but it jumps out of 5th now and then. Have you have had that problem Mike? It has a slick shift on it which may be part of the problem. Cheers, John

      John,
      I always smoke test every box now on the bench to make sure it is oil tight
      Not sure about jumping out of 5th
      There was only 1 detent spring and ball on the 77 but 2 on the 380 - so a weak spring could be an issue
      I have to inspect this slick shift further and see how it jives with the gear box - first time I have seen one

    so am i correct that your british living in canada. well any recomendations on a defender mechanic in the uk?... currently saving up for one. with million ideas of things want doing to it

      I have not had time to evaluate it yet - think it will be a long time until this vehicle gets back on the road!
