A tip, use way less water in your pressure cooker. Use the manufacturers recommended amount. Usually around 2 quarts. It's actually better to have the jars above the water line. The way the sterilization works, is by steam and pressure. The steam and pressure gets hotter than the water. So anything directly in the water is not sterilizing at the same temps or possibly not sterilizing properly at all. The steam and pressure can get up to about 250 degrees. That's why 15 psi is used. At 15 psi, the temps are about the 250 degrees needed for sterilization. Boiling water doesn't get nearly that high. So if you run into contamination issues or percentages, you may want to look into a rack for the pressure cooker and less water. Great video though!
After mastering movements inside a SAB working in front of a flowhood is a cakewalk. Always try and make sure your hands aren’t between the filter and what you’re working with.
Yes, definitely! One thing I've learned after this video is to lay jars sideways while they are cooling. They will cool faster and more evenly because of the surface area. Hope that helps! 🖖🏽👽
@@musicforchange1990 Yeah you could save it from each rinse. You just pour it from a bowl to a container if you want to save it. I just use LME/Corn Syrup/Soy Peptone because I mostly use popcorn now. Suppose you could save the popcorn rinse, just haven’t done it.
Guys i sterilized for 2hrs instead of 90mins. My rice is still plump yk but it’s a little darker than normal😢 yall think it’s overcooked? and will it still work?
Awesome video! The only thing I did different was soaked the grain before the boil, my jars look great following ur guidelines. Waiting for the cool down and injecting me tomorrow. Hopefully all goes well great video.
This is great! I've run a ton of different grain. First time trying brown rice. Bro... I put on this video and Born Under a Bad Sign covered by Jimi Hendrix from an album called "Blues" came on the player and it jives perfectly. Like Jimi played this to be your soundtrack

@EazyBlue thumb you made this such a relaxing video. Im working my way to a FlowHood and maybe next year it'll happen. Since I now know your a newbie with it, I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing your experiences with it. This was an very enjoyable video experience for me.

I wouldn’t leave your life loose. You don’t have to worry about pressure inside the jars, there’s a patch there. Plus while the pressure cooker is cooling down and loosing pressure it’s pulling dirty air back in which in turn into your jars
To be absolutely clear about the full procedure. Bring water to a boil. Dump your brown rice in Should I wait fo the water to start boiling again to start the 8 min or it start as soon as I add the rice in?
The brown rice kick my ass. 😂 Good job dude. Which mushroom is very good ? A long time away we walk around and pick up psylocipe cubensis. It is called spitzkegeliger Kahlkopf in germany i think you called it witch nipples. You can grow this strain ? A hot tea with 20 of this small mushrooms is very funny. New subscriber here.
i tried this and shook the jars right after pc and it seemed almost too hydrated, now a couple days later it seems dry, is that normal or should the rice be like sticky when you innoculate?(i prepped the rice 2 days ago and will be storing them a couple more days before i have my inoculant)

Shake after PC to prevent clumping! Gotcha! I think I need to start doing that

You should rinse the rice until water runs clear as it will help remove any dust and excess starch before boiling.
You don't have to rinse because if you don't you can use that water for your agar. Dr . Ed swears by it.
I suppose you could use it either way before or after rinsing now that I think of it

From my experience rice gives me the biggest fruits
Do you flip the lid on the unmodified lid during pressure cooking? or during colonisation? cheers

hi, what substrate can i use after colonization? I was thinking of using coconut bar + Brown rice, would that be enough? thanks in advance
Pretty nice my man 👍🏿
Appreciate it. Thanks for tuning in!
That is dope bro learning a lot by watching this❤
Where did you get those little wire racks in front of the flowhood?
Check my Amazon Supply List in the video description. Every item on that list I use personally.

Can you add gypsum to the boil to help prevent clumping? If so, how much?
I've never used gypsum, sorry.
I think he would have said so if he did.
To be absolutely clear about the full procedure.
Bring water to a boil.
Dump your brown rice in
Should I wait fo the water to start boiling again to start the 8 min or it start as soon as I add the rice in?
No 8 minute timer starts as soon as the rice hits the water. Constantly stirring to prevent sticking. Hopefully that helps you out!
Got a link to the flowhood? Great content, appreciate you fam.
Nah, no link, sorry. I bought off FB marketplace. Thanks for tuning in! I appreciate the support!

WHERE DID YOU GET THE FILTER FOR THE HOOD?!
Could you use a liquid culture?
Yeah, you can. It's just good practice to put LC onto agar to verify if the culture is clean to use. Hope that helps!

I try to shake up the jars as often as possible after I run them thru the PC. When cooling lay them sideways, that helps too.
Why do you have injection ports on your jar lids?
Injection Ports are for syringes, the filter patch is for fresh air exchange! Hope that helps.
🖖🏽👽
Thats what I was wondering. IF using cuts from agar why is it necessary to use modified lids. Maybe that's all he had at the time. IDK.
Because if you have modified lids, you can use them for both siyringe o agar, without the need of differentiate@@Murphy_.
Yeah I have both mod lids and un mod lids. I just prefer to use the modded lids. Un modded works well also.
Bad ass flow hood 3x3?
Thanks, it's a 4x2. Bought it from FB marketplace. Works like a charm.🖖🏽👽
You don’t need to soak prior to cooking?
I personally do not soak nor rinse. Straight from the bag to the boil. Hope that helps!

@@EazyBlueThumb thank you bro!
@@EazyBlueThumb I actually did this method a couple weeks ago and the cultures are looking solid.
@@EazyBlueThumb do you turn the temp down to a simmer after you put the rice in?
@@EazyBlueThumb or do you turn it down and still keep boiling? And stir quite often?
How much was your flowey, and where did you get it?
I bought it second hand from FB marketplace.
@@EazyBlueThumb I’ll look into that. How much did you pay?
Im sure you know by now, but dont put your hands in between the flowhood and your work.
ez im down with channel i see u growin . subcribers that is lol
