Here we are as promised, your Ultimate Starter Guide for M. Bison! Everything you need to know from the basics, to advanced concepts, and all points in between. Over one hour of goodies for you, and all timestamped so yall better leave a like for timestamps in an hour+ long video lol. I really like this version of Bison, very evocative of the classic incarnations of the character(aka not that sfv abomination) with overwhelming strengths, although a very defined weakness of he can dish it out on offense, but can't exactly take it on defense. There's a lot in the vid so hope I can help you learn a thing or two, dig in and hop you enjoy it!
Watching this I've realised that "starter" guides still go over my head... I basically need a tourists 2 week holiday guide. Here's the sights, what you should visit, a few phrases to get you by with friends and a couple secrets that only the locals use. 😄
Zach Henke makes good guides for for the stuff he's covered. He did a Knockdown/Oki guide for Bison that's pretty good. That being said this covers all of that to my memory. lol
So far of the current SF6 DLC's I will say Bison is far and away my favourite. I don't have my "spirit" character yet in SF6 (like Hawk in sf4, kotal kahn in MKX, Broly in DBFZ for example) but he might have the chance of pulling it off. That said the next 2 DLC's of Terry and Mai also got a good chance so I guess just looking forward to the future lol. I absolutely HATED the SFV incarnation of Bison, and this one feels more like the one I put in a hojillion hours into in sf2/sf4/cvs2 so that makes me very happy. We are now heading into Evo Season soon so probably expect a bunch of content relating to that at in the near future!
I hope he gets a nerf hammer... he is zero fun to play against in his ridiculous overpowered state atm. Look at all the top players jumping on him... I see 80% bison in diamond it is just silly.
Bison was the first character I reached Platinum rank with in this game. Love the intimidation factor he brings. I also box so I've started rolling my wrist like he does for dramatic effect 😅
I usually dont sit through your videos but since I'm a Bison fan I want to understand this iteration and know everything about him. Will definitely come back for the oki segments and will def practice your combo guide on this guy
Forgot a cable to rebuild my leverless, THURSDAY I should be able to play Bison, went and bought the character and colors and all that. Guide is a good way to make me even more hype! Love how it picks from the basic and up!
M bison 🦬 have other safe jump you forgot to mention Roofle, after planting a mine, on the corner if you detonate it with medium backfist the explosion leave you on 42 frames. I think also from no aerial combo, just straight combo if you do medium or light psycho crusher with the mine planted also count as 42 frames wen the mine detonate I believe. But great guide man.
Wow, over an hour, you weren't joking when you said it would take longer when you're talking over it in the combo guide video comments. ^^ Thank you very much for this. That's five star service here.
If you wanna maximize damage when you have two bars or less, burn out with EX scissor and end the jugle with standing heavy punch. Big damage and can cancel into all 3 supers to close out a round. I've taken 40 percent to close out rounds ending with lvl 1 alone from a single jump in with 2 bars
Really cool guide, can always count on ya! I think the meta around Bison is really going to depend on how players use his movement. Shadow Rise, if used correctly with some healthy conditioning, can be a TERRIFYING move. Bison can basically set up a left/right, high/low at almost any time. Factor in bomb, and i think once scissor kicks start getting some counter play (and potentially nerfed), we're going to see it become the centerpiece of his gameplan
Im loving him, i liked him in sfv but i never grew up playing bison in previous iterations like you, definitely harder to use then my first main deejay but getting him to master should be fun. The lack of wake-ups got me hard against aggressive rushdown so as you said i just started blocking more which is frustrating but tbh i press too much 😅
I would disagree with the idea that his antiairs are worse than the rest. He doesn’t have an air-invincible reversal, but his cHP is actually among the *best* in the game as opposed to the worst
Then if he were to rephrase, he’s very very limited to his practical anti-air options. If you are turtling or have a significant life lead, you can use psycho crusher that has a 16f startup at its fastest and anti-air properties at frame 6 of startup at its earliest. 10f startup on his crHP, very reliable hitbox. Stand RoundHouse is unreliable in the sense but can be used with 13f startup. Then you have Drive Parry which loses hard to empty jump grabs (which a lot of people attempt and get blown up for.) Akuma can destroy you trying to anti-air his demon flip if you mistake it for a normal jump. So can any other character with a dive kick or jump frame altering, mobility shifting in air ability like a blanka ball or chun lightning kicks. If you are late to react, you are lucky to trade with crHP with most jump in buttons that most people use, and flat out lose with any other option other then drive parry. If you successfully normal parry you dont have any, get off me defense other then drive reversal which can get baited into a decent punish from majority of the cast who baited it, especially command grab characters. So, ultimately, you have to be on point with the arguably one of the best crHP in the game because the rest of your options arent practical, or they are situational, or if predictable you get blown up and die for using. That what Roffle was saying so eloquently without wasting too much of his breathing breaking it completely down for the in the box thinkers.
I mean the sass at the end was a bit much but those are good points. I will say for lower levels of play, which I am still fumbling around in, the impression is overall much more positive. While air trajectory altering moves still obviously caused problems, being someone who still can find a DP motion a little hard to do in the moment makes his anti-airs end up feeling quite good. The simplicity in the input of cr.HP for close jumps and s.HP for far ends makes defensive play feel easier for me coupled with his fast walk speed and long buttons. As you rank up though I'm sure the lopsided-ness of the character comes more through.
his cr hp is not among the best thats actual crazy talk. Its not even as good as hondas st hp, or actually amazing ones like Lily cr hp. To be "among the best" it actually has to be among the best, not significantly lesser than the actual best
Im still at it trying to learn m bison its a slow process for me i never played with charge characters so its like learning new mechanics…i tried the combo trials n i gotta say i need help lol its the charge moves into combos etc my head hurts from it
From when I felt playing him (early impressions), when it comes defensive options; I think using SA2 to cash out and save a bar of super meter for SA1 as a reversal option is lowkey probably best way to use his super meter. Unless you are cashing out SA3 on a super unscaled combo or SA3 practically guarantees your win condition (leaves them with super low health or burnout or both.) especially on punish counter. Punish Counter stand roundhouse, walk forward crouch fierce into OD backfist combo super cancel into SA2 for 50%. Its only 3% more damage with SA3. And most other combos (unless long max scaled combos) land for roughly 4-6% difference in damage when comparing SA2 to SA3 damage. I mean if you have CA then cashout with CA for the big damage. Very likely to close out the round with CA from my combo starters unless the opponent was very healthy to begin with. Second, i feel like Bison does well in this version of the game. Not overpowered, he still gotta work unless your average shoto. he does well against shotos, but i feel he may struggle to some of the niche characters because of his defense and not having a strong reversal option. Or maybe its just me. Just feels like, against those more niche characters like Honda, Gief, Jamie, Marisa, even bottom 1 Manon, that you have to guessing correctly more against them then they have to against you or else you die. And it doesnt feel like that against the shotos…not really. For the most part the shotos feel more predictable because you understand mostly what they wanna do and the spaces they wanna do it from. These more Niche characters got that “ive been struggling all my life and i got nothing left to lose” kinda play style thats just unpredictable a lot of times. They start jumping randomly or too often and annoyingly. Never at you. Like neutral jumps from full screen just to confuse you. Then they approach with disregard of frame advantage and try and steal turns way more then any shoto would. And drive parry just allows for that all too easily. The days of frame traps is long gone in a modern street fighter game. Now people just press a button when its your turn or when they should be respecting you, and if you press a button thinking its any other fighting game in existence other then SF6, you get perfect parried and punished. And i think this mechanic really hurts Bison. So against these random players and niche characters, i feel its more of a struggle for him, because he honestly doesnt have anything that scary until he plants and mine. And without that mine, he’s just hard baiting the enemy into making a mistake, and that could lead to you overextending yourself into being predictable and getting punished.
I think even in closing out a round, you're better off not going for the drive rush combo > drive rush combo to finish it. You can use it to get that first low hit w/ extra frames, but it seems to me to always be better to cancel into EX Scissors since you can do EX scissors > HP > level 1 if you're tight on meter for I think it's like 3k+ for 2 drive bars and 1 super bar. Or else EX scissors > EX backfist > Punisher or level 3 if you have enough of both meters for even more solid damage. All of this is, like was said earlier in the video, much more geared toward using his EX moves instead of the drive rush system.
41:59 if you can react with crusher against Chun-Li you are doing really well. Chun-Li has much better than average recovery on her fireballs (to compensate for them being charge moves and not going full-screen). I believe she is actually second only to Guile, so even if it doesn’t work on him, if it works on Chun it works on everyone else. Probably not a great idea against DJ too, but for him it’s because of the fireball feint and the two hit heavy fireball (EX crusher is great against that though thankfully). Also while I think Guile will do well against him because of his low recovery fireballs and how massive flash kick is (probably harder to successfully bait with his air mobility and devils reverse), I don’t think it will be nearly as bad a matchup as in the past. His walkspeed and drive-rush being very above average alone make his walk forward, parry, walk forward or drive rush out of parry universal anti-fireball strategy quite good. EX crusher on reaction to fireball also automatically puts him in Guile’s face with little counterplay. Even if it is minus on block, trading two drive bars to instantly get in Guile’s face and get past the zoning is not something other characters can do. All the other fullscreen fireball immune options like Aki dive, Cammy level 3 and JP level 3* are horrifically minus on block so they are very risky against him. Even EX spire doesn’t go full-screen, and while it’s plus with the stock, Bison is also plus with his stock and if you do actually react fast enough to punish, said stock gives him a billion damage, while Lily just gets level 1 or 2 I believe. Also if Guile walks backwards he loses charge and has to worry about fullscreen devil’s rise into devil’s reverse (if he doesn’t have level 3, which is easier to bait with reverse anyway compared to Flash Kick because of the longer motion and also way worse for Guile if Baited), and devils reverse is also plus and can cross up so Guile has to worry about backing up at any time if Bison has down charge. *JP level 3 included for completeness lol. Trying to punish boom with that might be the worst idea in the game, so bad I think it’s funny. It’s 18 frame startup plus some travel time after the teleport at fullscreen making it an extremely difficult punish on reaction. You definitely have to at least be buffering the double quarter circle to do it. This is while JP spike is the ultimate anti-fireball/Boom/Guile move. Unlike raw level 3 it costs no super meter, comes out in 20-22 frames but has no travel time so it probably has a better chance of punishing. It isn’t projectile immune (which is why I said Bison has the best projectile immunity from fullscreen rather than the best anti-projectile), but you can cover yourself with your own projectile or probably block the boom in time anyway. It’s minus 2 to plus 3 for a cost of 0-2 drive bars depending on version and you stay at full screen, as compared to raw level 3 which of course costs 3 super bars and teleports you to point blank from anywhere at -62 on block. Best/Worst of all, IT CAN BE EASILY HIT CONFIRMED INTO LEVEL 3 ANYWAY lol, or level 2 if you use the OD version, or confirmed into portal spike into any super. Dhalsim also has better anti-Guile/Projectile with his float, Air Fireball, teleport, and long normals. But I think Bison is definitely number 1 of the characters that don’t have a fireball themselves. So he is definitely the pick if you hate projectiles.
I love bison atm. I primarily a geif player but bison is something different for me. Any tips on how to use him for someone who has barely touched a charge character?
Me the same charge characters are not for me in street fighter games, but since i got a bit confident with guile, might as well go for m bison someday. Well again just like every character i try to push myself like everyone else. But charge characters are hard to master like you need to hold the inputs for some seconds then you release the special move and enter the next sequence combo in between. like if i need to do a guile sonic boom combo, first i hold the sonic boom for seconds and as soon as i hold the sonic before releasing it try to beat a partial of hits then release the charge special so it allows you to keep hit the following sequence of combos. and m bison is like guile just like him.
I was one game away from Diamond 3, Then Bison came, funnily enough, on a Tuesday, and my main is Chun-li. I almost got pushed all the way back to platinum, but I just made it back to D2. Bison is a little too strong, Probably for the 'buy the Season 2 DLC" aspect. We all know a nerf will inevitably come, but while he is as strong as he is, may as well enjoy him.
i enjoyed the guide but the force burnout is just simply not true. they can interrupt the standing knee into cr mp with a 4 frame move. lots of counter play there but great guide overall
Everyone and their grandma is getting bison. We all know how stupendous overpowered he is in current state. I HATE charge characters, but he is ridiculous without any charge. He is just brainded spam. : /
@@BravadoLuciano Wrong. With this more realistic style, his oversized shoulder pads look like a comic-con costume.

His scissor kick is unfair and will be nerfed. I don't understand why capcom makes these broken ass moves them scramble to fix them when player abuse it.
Give me an example of Capcom "scrambling to fix" moves. Generally, they let them sit and after a few months they address it, if it is actually too strong. Most of the time, people cry about a move, ignore the options for dealing with it, and continue to complain. Scissors isn't as safe as it seems, a lot of characters can jab punish it on block

Sf6 has helped me get good with some charge characters like Bison and chun li
Ok great video.
Main takeaways for me are:
#1 Plant the mine
#2 Plant the mine
#3 Be Patient Blocking
#4 Plant the mine
For me it’s more like
#1 plant the mine
#2 go in
#3 occasionally be patient blocking
#4 replant the mine and repeat
You've outdone yourself! The best guide for the best character from the best FGC content creator!
Typically charge characters are not for me, but Bison is just too cool In this game. Might have to be my first one that I really commit some time to.
@@bbk2116 same here haha
Tell me about it I hate charge inputs they hate me and how fast you need to be
Same. Taking some getting used too but really fun.
Idk if it’s my head but I feel like bison’s charge moves are easier to execute over other characters
Theres no real charge characters anymore, everyone has normalised inputs too, makes it much more accessible. It's cool!
Absolutely fantastic. I have played Bison in every SF game, I love him in this one too.

i think he points it out but just avoid doing light/med backfist midscreen. scissors or crusher ender midscreen lets you continue pressure.

You forgot the slide goes through standing projectiles!
Of course I'm smart Mr rooflemonger! 👍
Hoping Vega (claw) comes in season 3 and I will have my two all time mains
Modern Bison for president.
just in time
Dope
How likely are we to get Sagat in this game?
What? M.bison has more than just scissor kick???
I was one game away from Diamond 3, Then Bison came, funnily enough, on a Tuesday, and my main is Chun-li. I almost got pushed all the way back to platinum, but I just made it back to D2. Bison is a little too strong, Probably for the 'buy the Season 2 DLC" aspect. We all know a nerf will inevitably come, but while he is as strong as he is, may as well enjoy him.
Please can anyone one tell me which edition of Street Fighter 6 I can play or buy M. Bison
Maybe content creators should do post nerf guides lol
i enjoyed the guide but the force burnout is just simply not true. they can interrupt the standing knee into cr mp with a 4 frame move. lots of counter play there but great guide overall
Waited specifically for your guide to learn how to play Bison. All other guides were 🗑
It can be probably, by a lot😂😂
The guide dropped after I got to Master rank! 😭
master only the beginning, use the bits at the end of the vid to get to a good MR
Good stuff! Keep up the great content!
thanks for chuns legs to watch while ur talking
I wish his OD Pyscho Crusher has frame 1 projectile invul. It still loses to meaty fireballs.
all things considered its still very good. Its meant to be used reactionary, not as a defensive move. His defense is weak on purpose
scissor kick being motion still annoys me lol
I know it's a boomer take but still
I like him but I hate his defense
You get rushdowned and you are toast.
Everyone and their grandma is getting bison. We all know how stupendous overpowered he is in current state. I HATE charge characters, but he is ridiculous without any charge. He is just brainded spam. : /
I think they maaaay have given Bison too much stuff. Like, he might be stronger than AKUMA.
Am I the only one that thinks Bison's shoulder pads look stupid.
Yea you’re new to sf
@@BravadoLuciano
Wrong.
"...scramble to fix them almost a year later once they're happy with the amount of money a strong dlc character has made them" Fixed it for you bro
@@upsidely actually you’re 100 percent right, they don’t gave a rats ass about balance and will leave a game broken for months.
