Great video! Subscribed to your channel! Really like the camera angles and drone footage. My stock height Gladiator Rubicon should be able to walk through this (with some careful lines).
@@DarksideOffRoad give me a heads up when you go next I’ll try and meet up with you. I’m doing a cold weather trip in February to Union springs if you wanna join
Another nice (but shorter) trail out that way is Rt 18 from Douglas WV (starts just above Douglas Falls) out to Olson Fire Tower (def worth the climb up for the view). Also a fun little trail outside of Davis WV down 48. It is across 48 from where A Frane Road hits 48. Cross the stream, follow the gravel road up the hill and at top go right and follow to a small (likely mining?) pond and then hit Buffalo Coal Road and turn right to get back to 48. At the top you can also go left and follow the power lines, but i’ve only gone that way a short distance.
@@DarksideOffRoad a lot of the land around there is owned by some hunting organization- you’ll see their signs posted around. I might actually contact them about joining just to be able to drive some of their roads. For example there is one right next to 48 going into David that goes about a mile or two to where 48 ends. Awesome fun looking dirt road with lots of mud and a giant boghole and dips to get the articulation working, but it is tagged as their private property.
@@DarksideOffRoad cool I’ll have to take a look. Sitting in the burbs and city this time of year I watch the vids to remember better times both past and to come. Lol.
@@dadventuretv2538good luck with that. It's a multi year wait to become a member. I don't think they've accepted new members in the last 4 years or more.
hey brother in your travels through Canaan Loop trail were there any campsites that were not right off the road? Im looking to roll with the fam and we like choosing away from the road and possibly near water. Anything like that out there? Thanks man and keep doing your thing with the channel!
I was planning on hitting the Cannan Loop in a couple weeks too. Looks like I may have to stick to the dirt trail though. I'm only on stock tacoma suspension right now and some of those rock crawls look like they'd require a lift and some skids. Very cool trail though
Yeah. Check out some other videos to see if there’s comparable vehicles that have run it. It’s not crazy to think a stock truck could do it with good lines. Having said that the rest of the loop is amazing and there sites and hiking trails everywhere. Just enter from the East side for that road Bs the trail section on the West.
I did this trail with a stock gx460 suspension. I have skids and rock sliders though. Touched the skids from the single track from the ruts but not bad just pulled them off and resprayed. When I went it was also relatively dry. Still water on trail water crossings were relatively low. One standing water area was to bottom of my doors. I have a diff breather kit on so wasn’t worried. If you have a stock suspension wait for no rain for a week or two before going.
Hey Jay! I have all my GPX routes and waypoints on my patron site darksideoffroad.com but Canaan Loop Road is an actual marked road in Davis, WV so looking it up on Gaia or Google even will get you there!
Awesome terrain. Loved the ledge, stream crossings, & camping snippets. Overhead shots & music a plus. Jeep on...
That camera does really well with not having the glare from the vehicle lights!! 😮
Great video, I’ll need to go check out that trail (I’m in the Pittsburgh area).
So worth it!
Great trail. Rock, mud, and crossings!
Thanks bro!
I’m really digging the stripes on the 4Runner!
Excited to find your channel. Been wanting to do Canaan but hadn't found good video before now. Great footage! Thank you!
Hey thanks! I have two videos on it. I hope they help 😁
I was just up there a month ago and the trail was a blast with snow on it
That sounds awesome too! Maybe one of these winters I’ll try that. Been there dry/warm and wet/cold now. Frozen/cold would be next!

Awesome! Thanks for watching 🤙
I've run it in the snow and on sunny days. I would love to hit it in the rain!
It was fun!
Great content, just saw you guys at a Tim Hortons in Buffalo. I was like "I know that Jeep" 😂
Gotta get the Timbits! 😅
Lol I pulled up in a Bronco. Don't hate me 😂
Stay at the water crossing site it’s awesome
I hope to one of these times!

Definitely! I have a video of that from 2022 on this channel on my trip with Jon from Dirt Road Therapy! Back when the washout was more gnarly too 🤙
The one near 48 sounds cool too 👌

Most are by the road except the site that’s across the water. ⛺️
thank you sir!@@DarksideOffRoad
Do you have coordinates for that campsite across the water? Awesome looking spot

Ive done it multiple times. Just did it with a stock 04 ZR2 Blazer. Also did it with my stock Willys Gladiator. It's not that bad at all.
Nice video
Thanks for watching!
Do you think you could do this trail with wrangler A/T’s or would you recommend something beefier
Any A/T tire would be fine. A stock wrangler could do this trail but needs to take good lines on the trail portion.
Excellent video my friend..I would love to join in some of the off road trips if you ever want more company.. I live in the Northeast.. Scott
How is the guy in the 4Runner liking that goat armor?
Not sure myself. I’ve only been out with Carl twice, but I do know he’s real proud of that 4Runner!
How do I get the route. I’m from SC and want to retire in WV. I’m all about this.

Any recs on offroad shops to install racks and lights for my TRD ORP? I'm in the Pittsburgh area.
Not sure in your area, but the other side of PA has Main Line Overland. I’ve never personally used them though, but I know lots of people who have.
What light mounts you have on cowl ?
Hey there, they are the Artec Industries dual mounts. They work pretty good. Only down side is no swivel side to side, just up and down.
Do you Have The coordinates for the loop road you started on?
Hey John, if you just google Canaan loop road you’ll be able to follow the road to the eastern entrance to grab them.
What tent do you use?
I sleep in my Jeep. So a Wrangler 😉
Hey where are you from??
Buffalo, NY. Go Bills!
