Great video. I'm from around Parkersburg WV so I appreciate the video. Been exploring those mountains since I was a little kid with my Dad. Used to take my son with me when he was little and now just me, the wife, and the dog. On another note, its nice to see married people still holding hands when they walk.
This area is an absolute gem. I've been visiting from the Pgh, Pa area for two decades to mountain bike and hike. The camping along whitmer is lined with beautiful hiking and riding along the gandy creek. The dolly sods are right down the road from davis as well! Looking forward to it part 2.

Hey Guys, I am so happy to have run across this video. You traveled through my old stomping grounds. I can wait to see what part 2 brings. Regards from Ody Slim
You guys do such a fantastic job of video production! The narrating, camera angles, and editing really show off each trail that you do and what to expect. I have always enjoyed the outdoors but never had a vehicle capable of some of these trails. I didn't realize the extent to the Forest Roads in this area because I didn't know how to find them and only having a 2wd truck I didn't want to get in a situation I couldn't get out of. I didn't realize how many of these roads are accessible by almost any vehicle also and we just took our little old beatup ranger and explored all afternoon into the night without even getting close to stuck. I have a large truck for work but I got a 4x4 after getting stuck many times a year in my last work truck and have decided even though it's a big dually I'm still going and exploring what I can until I get a more capable vehicle. While it doesn't go like a jeep we are still having a blast exploring all these places and have only had to use the 4x4 a couple times. I got me a set of 33" coopers like yours and love them.
WOW! I don't know where you were driving from, but you certainly took the scenic route. I am a native Virginian, but presently live in Kentucky. I travel to Davis every Thanksgiving and have been to Canaan Valley many many times and saw the exit to the Loop. However, I have never driven it. Scenery beautiful. Now, I have visited the battlefield you mentioned. It is out. Thank you for sharing your adventure.

Awesome. Thanks for taking the time to film this. I am always looking for new areas in the PA/WV/VA area to explore. There is lots of ground to cover so any information that helps narrow it down is appreciated. I am looking forward to the trail that makes the Canaan loop look easy. Me and my father did the Canaan loop road in our trucks this past year. I have a 05 Silverado 2500hd 6 speed diesel stock height with mud/all terrain tires, and my father has a 07 tundra on like a 6” lift on 35” all terrains. It was a little challenging but boy it was fun. I’d love to take a full day trip on some of these trails but having 3 young kids don’t make it easy 😂

Hello folks over at Coddiwomple! love the vids! I have a question... My wife and I are deciding whether or not to get into Overlanding in our mid retirement, we are both EX avid hikers,. I can't carry a pack, nor can I walk miles anymore without a pack ,due to a spinal fusion.. I'm still mobile, and we miss the backcountry. that said, are the suspensions soft enough in those gladiators, that it's not a jolting ride and more of a squishy ride? I can handle moderate bumps at mid speeds ok in my chevy passenger van for decent amounts of time.. when trekking like that though.. my thought is ,crawling shouldn't be to jolting?... but on dirt roads where you are traveling at a moderate speed ,how abusive is that in a well suspended rubicon? I understand everyone is different and we all can tolerate at different levels. many replies from anyone who is experienced in Overlanding would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Hello. Getting into overlanding is a great way to explore and get in to nature. My recommendation would be a Mojave as the suspension is much more plush and more suited towards Offroad trails as apposed to the Rubicon being more suitable for rock crawling with its front locker and sway bar disconnect. If is very, very rare if ever at all that you will need a front locker. We don't have a front locker. As far as a swaybar disconnect, that does help in the ride also I would recommend the Apex sway bar disconnects on a Mojave. Hope this helps. Great video & trip! Question- I have seen mixed reviews on this... but do you think a stock Tacoma TRD could make it through Canaan Loop and the other roads you took?
Thank you! I would think that you could do Canaan loop pretty easily in a TRD Tacoma
I’ve done it several times with a 2010 trd that’s bone stock.
Any chance you can show the trip on a map?? I would realy love to check that trip with my crew

These places need to stay the way they are for centuries to come. WV is a national treasure even if Bette Middler is too blind to understand. 😅🤣🤣
We agree
How do yall find and plan your trips?
We try to find large clusters of forest service roads on MVUM maps of National forests. We are looking at doing a video exclusively on this topic.

Turnpike is the worst road in wv, avoid it. Up to 4.25 now. Have to pay to ride the most curviest road there is.
