Me : whern I see the thumb nail Iron warrior 1: heads blows off Iron warrior 2: oh fuck they got Kyle Iron dreadnought: beep boop fuck the loyalists * starts blasting *
What I'm wondering is how the explosives around the necks of the penal legionaires didn't regularly explode by say fire or a direct impact of a melee weapon. But perhaps they did and these 'blasts' were but fireworks harmlessly caressing the armor of the astartes. Really loved the story, great narration indeed.
The explosive collars are designed to direct their force inwards so it’s surprisingly safe (physically, I imagine it would still be a Significant Emotional Event) to be standing next to someone when theirs goes off. This is because in spite of popular perception, explosive collars are only meant to be detonated sparingly as a last resort to restore discipline in penal legions, so you don’t want to indiscriminately kill a bunch of neighboring legionaries every time you use one. Such carelessness and disregard for the efficient use of the Emperor’s resources is in fact a great way to end up in a penal legion yourself!
Few years too late but this is the advantage of modern plastic explosives, its detonated by a specific electric signal that can't be replicated without intent, so even throwing into a fire will do nothing.
I understand this is old lore, where Iron Warriors used to make use of daemonic a lot more, where from the newest lore, Iron Warriors, Night Lords and Alpha legion, although traitors, hate the machinations of Chaos as much as they the lie of the Emperion. That's why I find it so strange to have Perturabo becoming a daeamon prince of the Chaos United.. But as far as I understand/remember, he was slowly dying due to Fulgrims betrayal, where he basically used Perturabos life essence to his own apotheosis. When having your ultimate lord, gens father being a daemon prince, I feel a lot of discord how in newest lore, Iron warriors hate the Chaos as much as the false Emperion. It's just doesn't make much sense. I liked Perturabo up to the point where he childleshly started sulking because his deeds were often overlooked, and how he personally often searched out the worst battlefields possible, for him and his sons, only to again sulk even harder when those also didn't bring him much recognition. But then again, only a few Primarch had the privilege to spend enough time with the Emperor, to realize just how inhuman he always was, and the the fact that just like Astartes, while being amazing warriors and force multipliers, are not human in any sense, Primarchs even less so, and just like Thunder warriors, were created just to conquer the galaxy and most would be discarded afterwards, since unlike Gulimen, most were at their best in war campaigns, while in a time of peace there would be not much use for them, or even could be harm to the established Emperion. I think that the Emperor predicted the heresy and actually let it happen as a way to cull most of astartes and Primarchs, since both were just tools for him to achieve his ego maniacal goals. I even think that godhood was in his plans, or he wouldn't be so strict in deleting any other religion out there, leaving just him as the only true god, since faith vacum was so great. It's even possible that him becoming the God of reality, was the only way to have a chance to perservere versus Chaos, the gods of Imaterium who existed longer then us leaving our ocean wombs.. In the end, one thing must be recognized.. First that as eternal, he realized quickly during human history that only workers and byrocrats can rule, since those two groups actually make systems work, while warlords only make war. Second, that he laid the foundations to the ever falling Emperion still existed 10000 years later, even though it's a brutal autochracy, but with so many powerful alien factions, that in of itself is success in my book. Just sad that we will never truly be rulers of galaxy, like the reality Gods killers like Necrons, or the longest lasting rulers of galaxy such as Eldar, who was at their peak for 60+ million years, which is just incredible.
Bummer, wanted to hear the aftermath of yellow n black drop pods raining down on Ironclaw’s bros. Pert’s going to be fuming when he discovers he missed out on some Fist fighting. Awesome as always.
All of us who play 40k end up committing to a faction at some point. I gravitated early on to the Iron Warriors, which is weird, because I'm a really nice guy! Something about Perturabo, the archetype of the rejected genius, really appeals to me. They lash out at the righteous; warriors who they may have turned out to be like if only their society hadn't pushed them over the edge. I see the Death Guard in much the same way. "You made us this way! And we will have our revenge!". I find that way more appealing than just being "the good guys". The good guys in 40k aren't really so good when you look closely. The Imperium is full of hypocrisy, much like our own society. Thanks for producing this video. I've enjoyed it very much!
I've always found that the chaos followers / worshipers especially the fallen Marines to be kind of bitchy whiny children going through their edgy teen rebellious phase. Trying to justify their new form of enslavement to supernatural beings hell bent on consuming all sentient life, to be somehow better then an ego maniacal dictator/ psychic God. I prefer to go with the one that wants to build stuff up at the very least. Plus the Marines were supposed to be tools to achieve unification of the human empire, the guard are the truest form of what the emperor really wanted. Humanity defending itself as itself unmodified and fighting in the face of fear.
Dont really care for Chaos but this was a good one. I liked the part where he sees the penal legion with collars jacked up on frenzon and some what approves of the tactic :D
I miss the Frenzon-crazed beastman slave squads with explosive collars from the original Traitor Legion army lists (though requiring a Techmarine to operate the drug dispensers and collar triggers was silly, it's more in the Apothecary's area of expertise - if such an expert is needed at all, it's not like it matters much whether the 'patients' die of an overdose). The 'Chaos Renegade' list from WD 107 also allowed you to field a huge mob of a hundred or so human slaves with improvised weapons and explosive collars, for use as the cheapest and most horrifying of meatshields.

@@ABorderPrince awesome, ive been listening you your playlists all day. Ive been wanting to listen to a audio book but didnt want to start half way into a story etc since i have no idea who most characters are haha
The vacuum effect on oxygen sounds like a fuel air bomb. I used to work at a chemical facility, and in my department, there was no greater fear then a vapor cloud....a 'f.a.b.' sounds akin to one of those. A 'runaway reaction' was scary as well, but we had a "kill solution" that we could drop on it, kinda like smothering a fire. A vapor cloud was something that even the Old Guard who mentored me, had good cause to fear. With that in mind, a f.a.b. as a threat, is a very big f'ing stick. You wouldn't need to threaten with the atomic stuff, as you cannot hide from an aerosol bomb, they are the most powerful non-nuke device, yet do not leave any residual negative effects as radiation is want to do. A flash fire actually worried me more; while thankfully a rare event, a flash was much more likely to happen then a vapor cloud, as one simple slip-up during open-loading ( say you forgot to attach a grounding clamp, or the clamp was in poor condition ) and in an instant, you have a fireball headed straight towards your face, with nothing more then a face-shield ( more useful against liquid splashes ) between you and decades of pain. Been retired for almost 11 years, and thinking about it still gives me the creeps. That isn't even mentioning some of the truly terrifying materials we had to work with, including one we had to keep contained in a sealed and locked room....if you breathed it, it would turn the moisture in your throat, lungs, and what-not into a foam. That's bad, you do not want that shit. P.S. Another great reading. I really dig the Iron Warriors, I can relate to their bitterness, paranoia, and rigidness.
Honestly the Iron Warriors are my favorite traitor legion, similar to the fists, and Black Templars. I love almost everything about them, only issue for me is that they're Primarch is the worst. Love everything about his design and even his cold, calculating mindset. Only his reasons for turning are childish almost to the point of parody.
Prin-keps is more true to original Latin. Prin-seps is Anglicized. Similar to how Romans would have said "Kai-sar" for Caesar but we often say "See-zar"

not at the second but i do have a big lore video about them if oyu check the channel page you will find it
Tau stories would be cool :D
How do the copyright issues of audio books work? Does BL bless things like this? Honest question.
think its fine
Oat lord i think that as long as you do not post the genuine BL audiobook, you fine. The line between a hero of the imperium and a traitor is a fine line indeed.
nice one
cheers
@@ABorderPrince big fan of your work :D
Who was the champion that the war smith fought??
no idea man
Is this the beginning of a book or what? Im so confused lol im new to all this Nd content is so.blurred in warhammer.
its a stand alone short story. its a big universe lol
I really dig the Iron Warriors, I can relate to their bitterness, paranoia, and rigidness.
lol thanks man glad you enjoyed it
amen no regret
lol
How does a titan sneak up on your position?
Honestly the Iron Warriors are my favorite traitor legion, similar to the fists, and Black Templars. I love almost everything about them, only issue for me is that they're Primarch is the worst. Love everything about his design and even his cold, calculating mindset. Only his reasons for turning are childish almost to the point of parody.
i hear you but i still like pert
Only a small thing, but I’ve heard others pronounce ‘Princeps’ as ‘Prin-seps’ rather than ‘Prink-eps’.
Wondering which is correct now.
Prin-keps is more true to original Latin.
Prin-seps is Anglicized.
Similar to how Romans would have said "Kai-sar" for Caesar but we often say "See-zar"
Are there any of these books following Guardsmen rather than Astartes?
Several, There's Gaunt's Ghost, Ciphas Cain, Last Chancers, among others
yeah loads of series and one of novels
@@steelungol4373 I can find only lore on these, and not the auiobooks themselves. Do they exist or is it like the Hellsreach auidobooks that got taken down?
@@mivapusa Sorry, I thought you were talking about the stories in general. But in terms of audio (at least on UA-cam) two that I can recall that has The Guard in the main role is called Defixio and Cometh the Hour.
@@steelungol4373 My thanks.
God-Emperor protects
I listened the entire thing on playback speed 0.75.
It sounds like random rock lyrics, can't stop laughing
I like it but, what is happening?
War!!!!!!
@RE fana little background. Anyone know where to start so that I'm not lost.
Prinkeps?
He is pronouncing it in Classic Latin rather than Ecclesial Latin. Both are technically correct.
Any green skin storys id love to listen to them next
i did 2 in the playlist. got some more orky stuff coming
@@ABorderPrince awesome just got into warhammer and I got green fever, really enjoy your channel
So..so much heresy
LOL

Another great tale, but I did not find any satisfaction in the ending! I don't mind an open end, but that seemed to be a great starting place, not an ending.
yeah a lot of these are like that, many get turned into full novels or are in between stories for novel series
Maybe I don't know enough about Iron Warriors lore, but I don't think one of the chosen would allow themselves to be turned into a demon abomination.
Princeps is pronounced "prin-seps"
Your wrong it’s How I said it
Iron Warriors can breach any fortress except one which is Terra? How come I have not seen them knocking on the doors of the Ultramarines in Ultramar?
they have!
Quite liked this one. Would have been better with a female character for you to voice :-P
lol oooooooo dont worry a lot more of that to come
Was the ending
Ironclaw: No. I have won
Or
Ironclaw: No
IG leader: I have won
?
Yep, that's Heretical, the Inquisition will remember you

Transhuman psychopaths destroying everything they come across. No plot, no finess, no story. You can hardly write more boring stuff than that. Most Chaos SM stories are like that.
